Value For Money

Is Value For Money An Issue When You Are Looking A

Is value for money an issue when you are looking at a timepiece like the Rolex? My husband bought me this watch after having owned one himself for some time. The model he purchased for me was the Rolex Datejust in Stainless Steel and 18ct Gold Rolesor. The face is inlaid with ten diamonds, and it is also gold, with the date function displayed underneath the trademark Cyclops, that Rolex has become so renowned for. This watch is very heavy for a Ladies time piece, but I think that is one of the nice things about it, as you are aware that you are wearing it. The actual quality of the Stainless Steel and the Gold is quite simply second-to-none. The shimmer and shine on the Gold reflects every type of light, and it looks as good as the day we walked out of the shop with it. I have never cleaned the watch, although my husband does rinse it for me every now and again in soapy water. Accuracy is not an issue, as I only tend to wear it at weekends. As it is an Oyster Perpetual, my husband will set the time and date for me prior to wear. He has commented that he thinks it is every bit as accurate as his own Oyster.

Am I pleased with this watch? To say yes would not be doing this watch any justice. It has received comments from everyone who has noticed it. Not for the reasons that you may think. The vast majority of people do not recognise this as a "Rolex", but they comment on the quality of the shine on the Gold. It has never, to my knowledge made any difference in the way that staff in any shop have dealt with me. It was not bought for that reason. It was bought because my husband appreciates quality. I never wanted a watch of this value, but now I have one, I would never change it, because I have come to appreciate the workmanship and the quality that the watch exudes. That said, I did happen to spy an all Gold model while my husband was buying me a Wellendorf necklace for my Christmas present. Perhaps I'll tell him about that later.
