“Shoes ”

Written on: 10/12/2013 by jacaranda1958 (1 review written)

Bought a pair of Clarks shoes for Granddaugter for school. They have only lasted 2 1/2 months! The buckle has broken off! The reason for buying Clarks is for wide fittings and the fact that I thought they were supposed to be the best. You don't expect a pair of shoes that you pay £40 for to fall apart after such a short time!… Read Full Review

“I recently visited the Clarks shop in Worthing to buy...”

Written on: 06/10/2010

I recently visited the Clarks shop in Worthing to buy a pair of shoes for my 15 month old granddaughter. We chose a pair of boots which she immediately wore. They were marked down from 42 to 25 pounds. However, when we got to the till we were told that there had been a mistake and the shoes were actually 42pounds. As my grand daughter was actually wearing the shoes I reluctantly paid the extra seventeen pounds. I was very upset at the attitude of the staff who seemed to think that it was… Read Full Review

“I like the way that SOME shoes look quite nice but,...”

Written on: 06/05/2009

I like the way that SOME shoes look quite nice but, most of the shoes are either really ugly. Their school shoes are completely horrible and unsutible. I was looking up girls school shoes on the Clarks Shoes website and all I could see was ugly shoes, high heels and boots! Clarks used to be such a great place to shop but now it has really let itself go!… Read Full Review

“Clarks Shoes - My daughter has only been in reception...”

Written on: 26/09/2008

Clarks Shoes - My daughter has only been in reception for less than 2 weeks and the back of the sole of her shoes are badly frayed with great chunks missing! All she has done in run around like a normal child. I took them back to the shop but they only had one pair in her size - black patent, not really suitable for school! I was offered vouchers in exchange but can't send my daughter to school without shoes so will have to wait till the weekend to phone lots more branches to see what's in… Read Full Review

“When my daughter was small I had a couple of pairs...”

Written on: 26/08/2008 by High Wood (1 review written)

When my daughter was small I had a couple of pairs seemingly badly fitted, I didn't return as a customer until recently now she is 9 and I have a son of 5. Alas, now have had another bad experience where the machine measured a half size wrong for her and then my son was fitted a whole size wrong apparently just because they didn't have his size and they said it would be ok to go up a size and down a width. I feel it is disappointing that they trade of a brand name which has been around for so… Read Full Review

“Clarks provide a poor older girls' school shoe...”

Written on: 06/04/2008

Clarks provide a poor older girls' school shoe selection to start with; they rarely have many sizes in stock; there is no help from the shop in finding correct size; the Clarks head office has run out of nearly all G width girls' school shoes already from the Spring new catalogue - they only offer 2 shoes in a G anyway now; plus the children's shoe fitters I've found to nearly always be poor at fitting. Go to shops selling Startrite & equivalent - they are cheaper or the same price and fitting… Read Full Review

Written on: 20/02/2008

We tried to purchase a pair of school shoes and they had not got any in my daughters size so we asked if they could order a pair but they said no and gave us a customer ordering card and we looked at it and we had to pay '£3.00 extra which was annoying but clarks is the only place/brand that do children's school shoes.it was half term so they should have ordered more shoes in various different sizes… Read Full Review

Written on: 11/08/2007 by jm jones (1 review written)

I have a daughter who will be eleven in October. She needs a size 51/2-6 in Navy. She would love to have a pair of shoes with a buckle / T -bar. There is nothing! The only choice we have are lace up when the heels are too high, with platform soles and heavy to wear. In most schools the rule for footwear is a 1cm sole and 2 1/2 cm heel maximum. The lowest we can find at Clarks is 3 1/2cm heels. It's about time shoe manufacturers realised that children are taller now, with bigger shoe sizes… Read Full Review

“It appears that the shop workers are put under...”

Written on: 14/02/2007 by George Street (2 reviews written)

It appears that the shop workers are put under enormous pressure to sell more shoe care products and handbags. I find this insulting to the customer and feel that it is demeaning for the staff. I will no longer shop with Clarks… Read Full Review

I too have found this; not only in Clarks, but also in some other shoe stores. And they sell these shoe cleaning products at ridiculously high prices too! I ALWAYS decline.
1. the products DO work,
2. shoes don't come with a care label, and would you wash a new top without looking at the label??

Written on: 27/08/2006 by Andrea Aplin (1 review written)

With two weeks before school goes back, we tried to purchase black school shoes from our local Clarkes only to be told that they had just two styles, both in patent ... We felt embarrassed for the staff who were obviously trying to be helpful but continued our search to a private company spending £40.00. A loss for Clarkes… Read Full Review

Written on: 11/05/2006 by Gespi (1 review written)

I went to buy some summer shoes yesterday for my seven year old daughter, and I was appalled at the lack of styles that Clarks had to offer. They were either too high, or the only suitable sandal for school was black, which is great for the winter but not for those hot school days!! I feel that no thought has gone into this seasons and last seasons selection. Come on Clarks, do you want your loyal customers to go elsewhere??… Read Full Review

Written on: 29/10/2005 by debthezeb (1 review written)

I have always bought Clarks shoes for my kids, relying on their reputation. However, I have in the last couple of years become extremely disillusioned! The shoes wear out too quickly and look scruffy within a week of wear. However, a positive note - at least they are worn out before they grow out of them, which doesn't say much as they do not allow enough room for more than a couple of months anyway!! I now buy Tesco school shoes, and they are fab, and at a fraction of the price of Clarks!!… Read Full Review

Written on: 06/10/2005 by muminthekitchen (1 review written)

I purchased a pair of school shoes at a Clarks shoe shop relying on their good reputation. The shoes have worn down at the heel by over a quarter of an inch in less than a month. I would not recommend them to anyone any more. Kids wear their shoes all day and they need to be better quality than this… Read Full Review

214493_Hotbabe12's Response to muminthekitchen's Review

Written on: 20/10/2005

I agree totally with 'mum in the kitchen' my little brother and sister both used to get shoes in Clarkes, I don't know if it was just the shop in my home town but they both got trainers and school shoes and they were marked and damaged very easily and we stopped taking them there. As for Clarkes "So called" good reputation, where I come from in Scotland they have a very negative rep!!!!

“Buy Clarks girls shoes and risk wasting your money -...”

Written on: 20/06/2005 by Louise2of11 (1 review written)

Buy Clarks girls shoes and risk wasting your money - that's the experience of my friends and I this year. The formal girl's summer shoes have leather which is much thinner than usual - as a result the shoes are in a poor state after 8 weeks' wear. Doodles have suffered the most because Clarks have removed the protective rubber strip from across the toe - resulting in heavy wear, tears and holes after just a couple of weeks wear… Read Full Review
