The Language of Sharks is a collection of stories about rites of passage and turning points in the lives of a collection of unrelated women. It doesn't have a heavy feminist agenda except that it paints the women as full vivid characters which many books don't. They have to struggle with drugs, relationships, and general survival and it's quietly engrossing. It reveals some moving home truths about life in general.
