Thank goodness for Kill Bill II after seeing the first one and being left on a cliff hanger. I was wondering will there ever be a sequel? I would like to say Tarantino didn't let us down. Great storyline tied up the loose ends (at last), music was brilliant throughout and Uma Thurman was at her best as was David Carradine. Superb acting, action, suspense and drama.

“Kill Bill Vol. 2 - The 2nd part of Quentin Tarantino's...”

Kill Bill Vol. 2 - The 2nd part of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill story. This movie concentrates more on the story of the characters rather than the fighting but it ties up a lot of loose ends and answers a lot of questions from the first movie like The Bride's real name (Beatrix Kiddo). It tells the story of the other 3 characters that she has on her Death List, Budd (Bill's Brother Code Name - Sidewinder), Elle (Code Name - Californian Mountain Snake) and Bill (the father of The Bride's daughter). Overall the movie is good to watch and it never gets old.

“I loved Kill Bill, Volume 1. I thought that it was...”

★★★★☆

written by 80smetal4ever on 09/05/2004

I loved Kill Bill, Volume 1. I thought that it was the comeback movie for Tarantino. He had been hurting for a stretch of movies in my opinion. The first Kill Bill had tons of action. I think someone died every 2 minutes on average. If Kill Bill 1 is an action movie, than Kill Bill 2 can be filed under "drama" in my opinion.

The beginning started out slow. So slow, in fact, that I fell asleep. I was out for about 5 minutes, and evidently I began to snore. A guy in the row in front of me yelled, "Hey, wake up"!! Realize, there were only about 5 people in the entire theater. Uma Thurman is back as some sort of uber killer. She is a top notch assassin that is out for revenge.

The wedding scene from the first movie is explained in detail in this film. Evidently, Bill was in love with Uma, or "Beatrix" as her name is in the movie. He figured, if he couldn't have her, nobody could - so he killed her. Or so he thought.

The beginning of the movie follows Uma's training under an asian martial arts master. This took place long ago, before she tried to quit Bill's team. He was a funny character. He hates white people, and he hates women, so you can imagine the scenes of training Uma. It was like watching an old "Rocky" film, there for a while. This asian master has white hair, like Colonel Sanders - including goatee. He loves playing with it, it was strange.

Uma has three people left on her "to kill" list. They are: Michael Madsen, Darryl Hannah, and Bill(David Carradine). Madsen's character has gone way down hill since his assassin days. He is now a bouncer at a strip club, and an alcoholic, who lives in a trailer. He is Bill's brother, which we didn't know in the first film.

Uma's fight scene with Darryl Hannah is probably the best in the entire film. There were not enough fight scenes in this movie, in my opinion. Uma and Darryl fight it out with the best samurai swords known to man. A lot of swordplay, and just plain beating each other up. The end of this battle is outstanding!

The final scene is Uma confronting Bill. Tarantino brought John Travolta's career back to life with "Pulp Fiction". David Carradine is not a good actor, in my opinion. He wasn't good in "Kung Fu", he wasn't good in "Death Race 2000", and you can't convince me that he has been any good in either of the "Kill Bill" films. I get the feeling that he isn't even acting, he's just being himself.

Uma is torn, because Bill has been raising their 4 year old daughter, while she has been away. Most of those 4 years, Uma was in a coma - brought on by Bill shooting her. Uma and Bill do end up having a final showdown.

Quentin Tarantino does some nice things with this film. He moves from color to black and white effectively. The music is very good. However, you can put all the lipstick on a pig that you want, it will still be a pig. Compared to the first Kill Bill, this movie is slow, not as original, and nowhere near as good. I give it a 7/10.

You are completely right in how the effectiveness of this film is lost due to the slow style on the dialoge. The scene with Micheal Madsen in the bar is 15 minutes of going nowhere. And I can't say that David is bad for any of these movies but he wasn't great. But part of being an actor is playing yourself so well people think you are real. That is the one thing QT does better then most directors. He puts a lot of effort into the charaters but sometime lets the movie get boring. This movie is great that is completes the second one but really he could have just made one long movie and made a few edits. Then he would have saved Vol 2 goers a few $ bills.

I Luv Kill Bill Films's Response to 80smetal4ever's Review

I thought both films were perfect, great acting from all actors/actresses. But especially Uma Thurman and Daryl Hannah who were amazing; I loved the fight scene batween them both. I also thought it was great how Quentin made the 1st film violent, just revenge and the 2nd one explained how everything happened. Glad it wasnt just one film. LOVED IT ALL XX

Actually Tarantino wanted to make both Volume 1 and 2 into one film but the publisher wanted to split it up. As for the slow speed, I liked it. I found it lacking in the second one. Volume 1 doesn't stop and just explain (well... it does once). I find Kill Bill v. 2 to be better than the first (I like the action in this one more as well).

Well in the case of the Matrix that would have been a very long movie. I would say that Matrix Reloaded was action packed but confusing and lacking in new character development. Things just happened and they would give a generic technical response. It was merely set up to let people know Neo could fly as shown at the end of #1. So when in the 3rd movie came out and it was revealed that Neo was "Jesus" and Smith was the "Devil" you were more likely to say sure why not. But these movies were for the most part stand alones. Vol 1 & 2 are deliberately 1 film that was separated for time, huge egos and the almighty $ bill. Plus QT only has a handful of films, he needed to stuff his portfolio and his wallet. But I will say the development of her hand strength was great. She didn't just pull a Matrix and say she can break boxes just because, instead QT showed the pain she suffered to built her up to that point and if that was the only scene in the movie it was a masterpiece and then to come back and do what she did to D Hannah it was a true show of her Kung fu mastery. But still the movie was slow and two scenes out of a movie doesn't make it a great movie.

Pasqual, I definitely agree with you that these two movies could have been combined into one really good one. Although, I still think Kill Bill, Volume I stands on it's own as a great film. These days, for "money" reasons many films and sequels are being made that shouldn't be. For instance, the 2nd and 3rd Matrix films, should have been combined into one good film - instead of two mediocre ones...
