Absolutely Shocking
Having been aeting from here for over 7 years and spent a small fortune between myself, feeding my staff and recommending to guests I had casue to stop using them earlier this year after the worst inedible chicken chow mein being dellivered, I sent them an email and am still waiting for a response as being in the industry never post a bad review unless absolutely desrving. I gave them another chance and so far so good until tonight.......... Spring rolls, salt and chilli ribs and shredded chilli chicken all inedible verging on off, soggy damp ribs, reheated dry chicken with no sauce and strange tasting spring rolls. 15 pounds later and am starving I will never order from her again or recommend. Very poor indeed and customer service zero

My Kind Of Place
Truely delicious. I enjoyed the Chef’s special, employed the waiters suggestion , and completed off with a pleasing soft serve dish .
Classic food preparation, dished in an unassuming dining area without a great amount of fuss. The fruits definitely speaks by itself, and though vegetarians might unearth their choice quite limited, it's a carnivore's ecstasy. A few of business-types here on a week day lunch break, but the surrounding was still being fairly casual.
Service plan was polite, attentive and considered as without having to be pushy or stuffy. Will clearly go back try a few of the more daring dishes

Lacking Customer Service
The food is good but never going back.Customer service is awful. We have been given the wrong items so many times, this last time when we decided to pick up the phone and make them aware we have been told we should have checked what we got. This was after giving our order in writing as we were fed up getting the wrong items. We were charged for food which was not ordered and when we challenged them about the prices on their website and leaflets we were told they were not updated for a while!I think this comes under false advertising; it is not the extra few quid you pay, but it is their attitude. I think I can live without taste good for the rest of my life!

Edinburgh, Chinese, Taste Good - We've Never Had A
Edinburgh, Chinese, Taste Good - We've never had a sit-in meal here (too close to home, it doesn't feel like going out) but every part of the place is clean and looks good, just as shown on the website. Forget the traditional pine-panelled minature shopfront that looks like a minicab office - Taste Good lets you see everything; they're clearly proud of it. The takeaway and delivery services (whether booked online or by phone) are faultless, delivery is prompt, or if picking up, it's ready when they say it will be. Staff are courteous and attentive. The food is exactly the way it should be. The starters are particularly good - best spring rolls in town. Wouldn't bother ordering from anywhere else - this place sets the standard for takeaway Chinese meals.

Taste Good Chinese Restaurant And Takeaway Is Situ
Taste Good Chinese Restaurant and Takeaway is situated on Slateford Road at Shandon on the west side of Edinburgh.
It first opened as a Takeaway about 15 years ago and my parents used it regularly as you got a good Chinese and delivered quickly!
As time went on this little takeaway developed a great reputation and about 6 years ago, they took over the shop next door and opened the restaurant.
There are 2 doors to Taste Good, the left hand side one leads downstairs to the restaurant and the right hand side one is the takeaway.
You enter the glass door, and walk down the tastefully decorated stairway, and enter the glass door to the restaurant. There is always someone downstairs when you enter ready to greet you with a smile.
Because of the popularity of this restaurant we have always tended to book, but as long as you are there before 7pm there's no doubt that you will get a table. Booking can be done over the phone after 4.30pm, or if you are booking in advance you can book over the net on their website. I tried this once and I know that my e-mail was read as I got confirmation about the fact they had read my e-mail, but they never actually responded. When we went to the restaurant after phoning to confirm, the head waiter asked if I was Louise and told me that I was the first ever e-mail booking and that they were still getting used to it! Needless to say I have not used that again!
We have eaten in the restaurant about 6 times, but have at least one takeaway a month from them! It's not because the restaurant is expensive, it's just easier as with 2 children to go out a lot is hard.
There is not a car park with this restaurant and the surrounding area's are tenements and houses but there is on-street parking, although it can be difficult to get a space unless you drive around!
Our most recent visit was last week. We phoned and booked and our table was for 6.45pm. We arrived at 6.30pm and the waiter took us to our table, in the empty restaurant. On the table was a plate each and chopsticks! Our table could have sat 4 people but it was set for 2!
There are around 20 tables in the restaurant. They are well-spaced and you get plenty of privacy. The decoration is bright and airy with lime green and red! There are also spotlights in the ceiling which go over each table! They also light little tealights in the tealight holder's which you can get from Ikea.
The tables are a beech wood and have matching highback chairs! Most tables are for 4 but are easily moved to make way for bigger parties!
The restaurant is very quiet when not busy but when it is starting to get busier the noise seems to amplify.

OoO OUR MEAL OoO
We ordered a portion of prawn crackers, 2 chicken noodle soups, 1/2 aromatic crispy duck, 1 beef with cashewnuts, 1 sweet and sour pork and 1 fried rice.
The soups arrived about 10 minutes after ordering. They were piping hot. There was quite a lot of noodles as well as quite a bit of chicken. The taste was a bit bland. The stock could have done with a bit more flavouring! The prawn crackers were plentiful although a bit greasy, but they were crispy.
We took our time eating our soup and the waitress constantly hovered over us to see if we were finished. We started to feel a bit like we were being rushed.
Once our soup plates were taken away we had about 5 minutes before the aromatic duck arrived. This came with pancakes, vegetables and sauce. You get 10 pancakes with it! Quite often in a chinese restaurant we find that they bring the duck on the bone! In Taste Good it is already prepared and it is easier to find bits of duck to put on your pancake! The sauce was quite thick rather than too runny, but it stayed on the pancake although it was a bit hard to spread.
For those who don't know you get a thin pancake, spread some sauce on, put some veg and duck on then roll up and eat. I often put the veg and duck on first and then put teh sauce on top! It is a very yummy dish and fills you right up so beware. It can also get very messy, and Taste Good provide little wipes which are warm to clean yourself up with!
Our plates were cleared away and the table was wiped down. We then received our bowls for our main course. We had about a 5 minute wait when our main course of Beef with cashewnuts arrived and Sweet and Sour pork Cantonese style with fried rice arrived!
The plates were full, but not too full. It was falling off and it wasn't full of sauce. There was a lot of meat and vegetables like carrots, celery, cucumber, bamboo shoots and water chestnuts in the beef with cashewnuts! It was also piping hot! My only complaint was there wasn't a lot of sauce which made the rice quite dry while the dish itself was very saucy and moist. I love cashewnuts when they have been in the sauce and soften a bit! The pork was roasting hot and I nearly burnt my tongue on it! But the sauce was just perfect. Not too rich and not too weak. There were plenty bits of pork and onions and peppers. The rice was lightly fried, but was a bit dry. It needed some sauce to make it not stick in your throat.
There is a full wine list as well as many beers and lager and you can also get bacardi breezers and plenty of soft drinks. We had 2 cans of coke and that did us for the whole meal!
The overall cost of our meal was £42.50. It was worth every penny and was delicious. Although we felt rushed at the start as more people came in, the staff were pretty busy and it became more relaxed in the atmosphere.
We were glad to go when we did as it was quiet and not too noisy, but we did find we were glad to get away as it was becoming busier and getting very noisy that we felt we had to shout. For a quiet meal I recommend eating early. If you are going in a group, go a bit later.
If you are in Edinburgh and fancy an excellent chinese..... Taste Good on Slateford Road on either the number 44 or 4 bus, or a taxi and have a great meal!
