“Stressful experience - You can't use your vouchers”

This gift was the most stressful experience, and I will never accept one of these vouchers again. From day one, after looking for an experience, and going through the booking process and confirmation, which takes days, we finally got to our first activity being a train trip. When we got there, the train was actually are community-run train, accepting donations - no tickets required, so why did my family members have to pay for the voucher? The next experience took months to try and book. Every date I put through was rejected, one came back requiring me to pay extra, and another had stopped accepting the vouchers. I even exchanged the experience but found that the venue near me had closed, but was still showing on their site. Be warned - the reviews on other sites are more accurate with the poor experience you are about to purchase for one of your loved ones.

“Next day delivery takes 5 days ”

Ordered a voucher pack as a last minute birthday gift, paid extra for next day delivery as I needed gift gif the Sunday on the payment section it states if ordered before 2pm it would be delivered via dpd the next day…it turned up on the Wednesday a whole 5 days after it was ordered when. Emailed on the Saturday asking why it hadn’t arrived I received a reply on the Tuesday saying as it was bank holiday the Tuesday was next day delivery (ok 4 days for next day delivery was not what I paid for!) especially as I received other parcels via dpd all over the weekend, then it still didn’t arrive until the Wednesday morning but still not willing to accept they are wrong and refund me the money! Ruined our son in laws birthday present and still trying to say it wasn’t their fault! All I asked for was the next day delivery to be refunded not the whole thing as we still wanted the vouchers but they are refusing

“Worst Experience ever AVOID”

If possible to leave 0 stars I would worst experience trying to book anything waited over a year for something that was booked for them then to tell me its not available anymore and I have to pay to extend my voucher don't waste your time with this company AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

“Worst experience in my life”

From the moment I got the voucher to actually taking my sparkling afternoon tea it was a disaster everything was difficult from the booking process, No one returned to me from customer services for two weeks therefore I had to extend my voucher costing a further £20 on top of what a family member had already paid out for (£60). We then arrived at our afternoon tea all excited this was soon shattered when we were handed a glass of prosecco and 1 scone with the tiniest pot of jam (that had no flavour) and the same size pot of clotted cream. Followed by a cup of tea. Absolutely no choice of teas and 1 scone, I've never been so disappointed. £80 for that. Please avoid these huge companies you do not get what they state in the voucher wrote ups.......

“Unable to activate voucher”

Was given a voucher as a present by my daughter. When I tried to activate it got a message that it had expired (even though she had purchased it only 2 weeks before giving it to me). She didn't keep the receipt. Now customer support says they are "unable to offer more assistance". Avoid. Do not use this company.

“Avoid booking a voucher through AS - go direct to provider”

Very poor customer service from the activity superstore. The activity provider (ifly) didn't have availability and suggested that I extend my voucher with activity superstore. Upon contacting them they said that they would charge me £20 for extending the voucher despite it still having weeks until it expires. This is a money grabbing company with poor customer service and I refused to give them any additional money. Thankfully, the activity provider had much better service. I would advise people to book directly with the activity provider to avoid any nasty charges and frustrating dialogue with unhelpful and uncaring staff

“Terrible service”

Terrible experience with this company. They offer a limited selection of venues for their experiences so finding the right one is difficult. Once we did manage to find one, we contacted the venue directly beforehand and were told that, even though they still had a contract in place with Activity Superstore, they weren’t offering any bookings as they weren’t ‘paying off as expected’. We then spent time searching for another venue. Having finally found one we contacted Activity Superstore to book and were told the venue is closed for maintenance. So we changed our childcare arrangements and proposed more dates. Funnily enough the venue is closed for maintenance and all the dates we requested! We know this isn’t true as we contacted the venue directly and they confirmed availability. All in all this is such a bad experience, and Activity Superstore don’t make it any better by trying to help. We’ve not managed to use our voucher and it will likely expire now at a significant cost. I’d book an experience with somewhere reputable personally.

“Dreadful service dont use”

Afternoon Tea Voucher bought prior to Covid. All venues closed so couldnt use. Now venues reopened no local suppliers are taking their vouchers. Customer support refusing to help soi money is taken under false pretences. Consumer rights legislation is simply ignored.

I can confirm restrictions for booking these experiences has been eased since June 2021, leaving a further 18 months in which vouchers were able to be utilised and extended if necessary.

“Avoid, Avoid, Avoid”

My son booked a car experience for me for Father's Day. When I tried to redeem the voucher to book the experience I found that the voucher had expired. I asked customer services if they would look into it, but they just fobbed me off stating that the voucher had been voided on their system as it had expired. I explained that we couldn't go on the experience earlier due to family health issues and due to Covid restrictions, but no, they were not interested, there was no compassion. We couldn't redeem the voucher until August due to these family issues. I decided to try and book the car experience, only recently, to find out the voucher expired on 31 July 2022. After several emails explaining the family situation with customer services, they wouldn't budge. They have received a payment so they're not out of pocket and why can't the expiry date be extended. Ridiculous, we won't be booking anything else with this company and I advise others not to book.

“Disgusting Service!”

Absolutely disgusting customer service!! They were unable to offer me and suitable date for the experience i chose as the car was not available for every day i chose. I decided to reset my voucher and try something else. Had to pay £90 to upgrade the voucher and was then told to book the experience through the provider directly. The provide did not have any availability until AFTER the expiry date of my voucher so I decided to cancel completely. I was told that I was not allowed a refund and could only spend more money and extend the voucher. I explained that I did not care about the original voucher just the amount paid to upgrade. Was told that I had emailed outside of the 28 days (I emailed the morning of 29th but did not get a reply for a few days) so was not allowed a refund. Terrible company, did not take responsibility for the company having poor availability and just expect you to pay them more money. No sense of compassion or leniency towards the situation. Have contact citizens advise and the financial ombudsman to take things further.

“Warning! Never buy from here!”

I received a voucher as a gift back during 2020 and it was for an indoor skydive. During the rest of 2021 I was constantly told they would not accept the voucher at which point I was told to exchange it for a different experience, which I chose something else. I then tried to book this during early 2022 where most of the support emails went to the junk email and on another message back to activity superstore they never responded (back in March). Now a few months later on contacting them for support I have had some unhelpful responses back basically saying tough the voucher expired. It’s clear to see they are just money grabbing off people. Both my girlfriend and mum have had different experiences from them and so far been able to redeem none of them. At this rate I don’t think they will get many more customers with their attitude.

“Expired Voucher”

I received a voucher from this company from my brother which had no expiry date on it. When I tried to use this voucher it would not work and upon contacting the company they advise me that it had expired. I explained that I was unaware of this expiry date as it was a gift to me and no expiry date was written and asked if they would extend it or if the price had risen, could I pay the upgrade price only. They refused to assist and state that the voucher is now void - they are therefore keeping the money from the purchaser and offering nothing in return. Do not buy from this company.

“Terrible! Lots of unneccesary hurdles to redeeming a...”

I wish the person who bought me two Activity Superstore vouchers had seen these reviews first. The whole process for trying to redeem a voucher is full of unneccesary obstacles and hurdles, which make what should be an enjoyable experience a real PITA! Why does Activity Superstore make it so difficult? Because their business model relies on people not redeeeming vouchers in order to make money. And it is shameful and disgraceful that even though I was unable to use the voucher for several months during 2021 due to Covid lockdowns and restrictions, Activity Superstore refused to extend the period of validity of the vouchers. Avoid at all costs. There are much better companies out there doing this kind of thing. Not possible to leave a rating of zero stars, otherwise I would have.

“This is a ridiculous company”

Someone paid good money for us to have 2 nights away and afternoon tea. So I had a go at booking it. The booking procedure is the most bizarre thing I've ever seen. It's like something out of the early days of the internet. You put in activation code and voucher and some other rubbish. Then find somewhere to go, not that there's a whole lot of choice. But you find something that looks ok-ish then you think I'll book that. Simple yes? No you put in 3 dates you'd like to go, you don't select from something linked to the actual place you want to go to and find out if there's room, oh no it's like an email thing. You get an email saying they don't open at weekends and they'll contact you within 5 days right? They contact you a few days later, the place you've selected can't do those dates. Round and around you go... I feel so bad for the person who bought it for us because I think it is just a complete coin, that is the only conclusion I can come to. Advice for anyone thinking of using them is DON'T, just give whoever it is the money or think of another gift, don't use this company.

“Disgusting. Don’t bother”

This was a Christmas present from my son. I booked a restaurant in Norfolk 2 months in advance for my birthday. Apparently it was full that night and any other night!!!!!!! I had to re-activated my voucher ( new activation number/voucher number) to book something else. Valid until 31/12/23 So tried to book something else, lo and behold voucher out of date. I tried the ‘chat’ nothing happened. Tried the email again nothing happened. Next should be ashamed of themselves. I would have given a zero rating but sadly you have to tick one.

I just to clarify I tried to change my London trip in November was not due to go till march could not get through to anyone . They more or less ignored loads of emails. This trip cost nearly £200 and when you only on a pension that’s a lot of money but they will be happy if that’s how they treat customers

“Great Ghost Tour in London”

“Save your money”

I selected the venue for our lunch meal, activated the voucher and rang the venue to book. Said venue was closed, but said their neighbouring restaurant could accept the voucher - on calling them, unsurprisingly they couldn’t. Activity Superstore’s chatbot doesn’t work (perhaps not very chatty at the minute?), they don’t take incoming calls and haven’t as yet responded to my email (not very helpful as I wanted to arrange lunch for yesterday). I would save your money and book direct - this company offers zero value and has no concept of customer service.

We received voucher as Christmas present just before Covid and expire date was 31.12.20... As soon as all restrictions were lifted we contacted them but they refused to extend our voucher saying "sorry but it is expired". Clever is not it?

we are having the exact same problem! just to be told or voucher is now void!! we did try toredeem it earlier, however, all events were fully booked, so now we are left out of pocket.....FUMING! wonder how many of the 300,000 experiences sold every year actually get fulfilled??

I was given a activity superstore gift last Christmas it was a one night away escape for two, we did look online and we did fill the activation code and voucher number to have a look, we did this around February but we never did book anything as we couldn't decide when to go. Now I'm trying to get on and filled every thing in again to have another look but it's now saying already been validated? What can I do?

Hi, Not exactly an expert on them, but had one protracted and painful experience from which to learn. The complication with the vouchers is that there are different types, each with a pre-set value. My original post discussed some of the issues, but... First thing - ring them and ask for help, stay positive and ask for solutions. If they fail to come up with one, or only at further cost or inconvenience then advise them of your frustration and join what seems to be a large group of disgruntled customers. They got a lot of business via Argos, and so I would advise all reviewers to: complain to Argos, post details of alternative providers or even better - details of direct local venues. Good luck
