Less functionality than old version. Can't drag and drop attachments. Can't save emails to folders. It's like going back to an older version. What are they thinking?!

“Unreliable-You will lose critical data”

★☆☆☆☆

written by bbHoward61 on 04/03/2019

The games Yahoo plays denying access to your accounts, as they try to accomplish more and more privacy invasion as google copycats. They would be novel to leave the original platform alone protecting privacy. I have lost critical records in my mortgage communications with their careless upgrades dumping data. Stay far away from Yahoo..you cannot trust them. They are sloppy.

“New version of yahoo email is Terrible ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Fernando64 on 19/04/2018

Update my yahoo email and now it is terrible. Have to wait for the mail to come in even after notification says you have mail when I open my mail it has to reboot or something before my mail appears and then they got all the adds flashing distracting you from reading important emails and now some bs about changes to policy’s ain’t doing it . Any thing from yahoo send it to the spam folder. This is getting stupid Hey yahoo why you trying to reinvent the wheel like a dumby old mail worked fine the new is the worst ever and with the stuff y’all say is coming next it’s going be even worse. Email is for communication between parties that want to communicate not for adds

“Unpredictable performance, arrogant yet poor support.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 354Huber on 27/01/2017

We've been a paid business email client for years. Yahoo has had it moments but never before have we experienced such a consistent period of unpredictability. Without changing settings on our clients we can receive anywhere from dozens of repeated inbound emails to nothing. Our MS Outlook and mobile email applications periodically receive extensive hours of invalid credential responses while trying to send or receive mail or seemingly log in to show no waiting messages even though logging in via their website shows waiting unread emails. When contacting support about these issues they produce the typical customer service script of check your settings, read these help pages or other mindless hoops obviously not appropriate for the encountered problem. Many of their 'help' pages are no longer valid - some produce 404's... In all cases they don't acknowledge they've changed something on their email server side that requires users to make adjustments - let alone inform customers ahead of time about mandatory changes. Lastly, in trying to work with other customers on their forums they have 'managers' that arrogantly copy and paste 'answers' - read: generic support scripts - and simultaneously mark the thread answered and their response as 'best'. And, for those who are trying to judge what is happening you'll get a false image: Once a thread gets to a certain length, they DELETE IT so others researching the forums about problems will never see how extensive the issues are.

“Regular data requests despite their data breaches!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by GrumpyVictor on 01/01/2017

The cheek of this company, the hacking issues with Yahoo are well advertised on the internet and on my login page. Annoyingly they ask for my telephone numbers, mobile and landline, on a regular basis claiming, with what can only be described as fear mongering, it is to avoid being locked out of your account! Well what about the security questions is that not their job? The request for data is unnecessary, an invasion of privacy and really with all the hacking problems at Yahoo, can they be trusted with telephone numbers? More over, why do they want the numbers? Sick and tired of Yahoo and started to move my accounts over to GMX.

“Password Paranoia”

★☆☆☆☆

written by kevinworby on 24/12/2016

Yahoo continuously bothers users to change passwords and now is forcing people to change them or loose account access. They have no right to dictate what my pw is nor if or when I change it. so I will leave yahoo and find another email provider so I can keep track of my pw.

My yahoo account has been hacked too many times. I had trouble just today it got hacked 6 times every time i changed the password someone took it over the last time today i did get to delete all my contacts and my personal info. I will never ever use that sorry site again. Easy for hackers to take your account and use for nasty pictures, Hard for you to get it back you have to prove who you are so how is someone else able to change your password so quick but not take off your contact info. GET BETTER PEOPLE WORKING FOR YOU.

“Average free email service”

★★★☆☆

written by 57Kearney on 25/05/2016

(This review is for Yahoo Mail in the US) I've been using my free Yahoo email account for over 20 years now for online shopping and casual contacts. I don't use Yahoo Mail for family & serious contacts because the spammers love to spam Yahoo Mail to death as it's easier to hack into the Yahoo accounts and to obtain Yahoo email addresses than other email service providers. I normally received well over 100 spam emails in the Spam folder of my Yahoo Mail account daily. Thanks to Yahoo's great spam filter, I rarely saw any spam email in the Inbox folder. I saw only one or two spam emails in a couple of month in the Inbox folder and I always reported them to Yahoo. The web interface was often very slow and/or unresponsive so I used MS Outlook email client and my cell phone to send/receive Y emails and that even helped stop the spam emails 100%. There are many other free email service providers that are better than Yahoo such as GMail, Outlook/Hotmail so I would use those for my personal & serious contacts. The Yahoo Mail, in my opinion, is good only for online shopping and unimportant contacts where I expected to be spammed by the trash-bags.

“Bad made worse ”

written by Bernardi1959 on 16/10/2015

Thanks yahoo for taking a "not that good" mail server and making it worse. Not only did you lose all my contacts on the app but mail no longer down loads. I may have to delete the app and reinstall or, heaven forbid, go to google.

“The NEW yahoo mail sucks”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MarenHiggins89 on 27/07/2015

It used to be that I could get to my mail through Yahoo mail in five minutes and open mail immediately, respond to or forward it right away and get into all the folders. Now with the "New Yahoo Mail" it often takes over an hour to get to my in box and 20 minutes to open an email. I seldom can respond to, or forward, any emails. I can't access my sent, spam, or trash folders. I tried to contact Yahoo about this problem and all I could get to was their "Quick Fix" service. It is worthless! They would not let me tell them what problems I was having. Quick Fix got back to me and said the problem wasn't theirs but was my browser. The problem is theirs: my browser didn't change. Yahoo started adding all sorts of extra features for messaging, mobile devices, and social media. That is when all the problems started! Up until a couple months ago I would get a message that Mail was taking longer than usual and it would offer me the option of going to "basic mail". When I went to basic mail the problems were not there. Now I don't get that basic mail option any more. I just want to be able to get to my mail easily. I don't mind the increase in advertising: that pays for the free mail service. If Yahoo doesn't get their act together there won't be anyone there to look at the advertising because they will all have gone to other mail providers.

I thought it was just me having this issue. You are totally right. I have missed important information due to not being able to access my mail. If it doesn't improve within the next month I am going to another mail provider. I have been more than patient for a whole month of continually contacting customer support. I get access for a couple of days then it goes right back to some errors message.

“yahoo mail sucks!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Reece30 on 12/05/2015

I have had yahoo mail for many years. Lately....unable to attach attachments.....necessary for my business. Now all contacts have been deleted. When i try to upgrade to safari, apple tells me my computer safari is up to date...but yahoo tells me I need to upgrade browser. Firefox will not upgrade either. So I am stuck with useless yahoo mail. Time to change to gmail. There is no online help for this issue. When I look it says go to deleted contacts...hahaha...there is no such item on the screen. There is nobody to call. Yahoo mail is currently useless,.

“Bad basic premise”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 233Fisher on 18/11/2014

I try not to be a crank, buy the new Yahoo mail is a good example of a complex interface system that fails at all levels. I've taught human factors in interface design at West Point and Johns Hopkins, and the new Yahoo mail shows no awareness of design standards. Bear in mind that Yahoo's basic goal is (correctly) increasing revenues. Hence we have a system driven by marketing and glitz, not responsive to how users are best served. Yes, spam attacks in swarm and navigation is confusing and counterintuitive (many of the features simply ignore principles of interactivity), and more ad copy is crammed down the user's throat. This increases revenues (important since the service itself is free), but it's ultimately counterproductive as users abandon the service. There has to be a thought out strategy and competent interface design or the it will go into rapid decline. Listen to users.

“WTF??”

★☆☆☆☆

written by FrustratedUser10 on 11/11/2014

There was a time when I used yahoo mail, but w/ this new format, I'm gone. Now, the inbox fills the full browser screen and there is little in the way of navigation--I still don't know how to get to any other folder, and the few 'links' (at least I think they're links--I really can't tell) there are aren't labelled, now does a mouse-over event reveal what they are. As a result, the spam and trash folders will fill up unabated, and there is no way to get to them to empty them. I don't know why yahoo does things like this--yeah, developers gotta make a buck, but is doing so at the expense of the end user a good thing? I think not. Do yourself a favor and use gmail or some other mail platform. You'll be glad you did.

“Once was good but no longer usable”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 07/10/2014

This review pertains to the free version as of October 2014. Pros: It is free. Cons: Many, here are a few. 1. Frequent interface changes with no warning. 2. The interface changes are always extremely buggy. 3. Servers frequently down, inbox or folders not available. 4. Too much emphasis on social media integration. 5. Forwarding of attachments works only occasionally. 6. POP not available with free version. 7. Mail forwarding not available with free version. 8. Support for free version is limited and robot generated. 9. Questionable security, account hacked several even with very long passwords. I have postponed leaving Yahoo mail for a long time due to many contacts to notify and profiles to be updated. But it has finally gotten so bad - I'm gone.
