“What customer service?”

The worst customer service I have come across - if it exists! Every thing looks great, straight forward until it comes to them taking money from your bank, as agreed, they don't take it and charge extra for you not paying! Once they get you to pay over the phone, which will be a late payment due to the arrangement agreed which they haven't adhered to, they up the cost for paying late! Passed A1 bike test today, called Hastings direct to inform them I now have full license and told not only would my premium do up but they would have to charge£25 for 'admin' on online only documents. Disgusting price and poor customer service. just wait till you pass your A licence and then get told they are not going to insure your bike, I can't sell my cbr125r or they will cancel my insurance, I can't ride my 600cc because they won't insure it, can't face riding my cbr125r, I've got to look at my insured 600cc for 2 months and keep my 125cc or I'll have to pay cancellation fees and lose my NCB, didn't Dock Turpin (had to put dock as blocked for a bad word) wear a mask while he was taking money for nothing?

“Poor Communication”

Not always easy to find your up to date policy details. My online search always defaulted to an earlier bike policy that I have not had for several years and that bike policy is still there today when I log on, alongside my current policy, yet the two bikes in between don't show. “Rubbish customer service”

Been with Hastings for 2 years, received a letter from them saying they were not able to offer insurance for this year. No explanation and nothing has changed except that I have another year's no claims. Called them for an explanation, call taker was uninformed and couldn't help or explain why they were not able to offer insurance again. “Unfair charges”

I cancelled a scooter policy which cost £104.00 with four months left to run as I had sold scooter. To be honest I didn't expect any refund of premium, but I was shocked at the £35.00 cancellation charge. “Terrible Claim Service & Delay ”

Made a claim on 20th Sept and was told that i would receive a call from their repair partner (4th dimension) within 2 days to collect the bike. No one called. I chased up the repair partner and was told that they only received the claim today (22nd Sept). The repair partner then told me their logistics team would contact me within a few days to arrange collection. The bike would then be collected a few days after the call. Have just renewed for the third time with Hastings. The price offered is competitive, but always phone them direct for a quote as the premium seems to end up lower than that shown on GoCompare and similar sites. One negative (although identical to many other insurers) is that when the renewal quote comes through the post in a years time, it will almost certainly be inflated by around 30%. My hasting motorcycle insurance is due for renewal next week. Having also been stung for the £25 admin fee for change of address (no increase in risk) I will never use Hastings insurance again. How can the 'admin' fee be more than 25% of policy price?

We are careful to be upfront and transparent about our fees and you can review them all on our website. In addition, we ensure you have understood and accepted them before purchasing your policy so that you can gauge what you may be charged later on in the policy. Lastly, on the back of your Certificate you can view the premium return information as there may be unpaid time on cover to pay on cancelling. As we frequently review our fees your comments will also be taken into account.

Having moved house recently I called to change my address and was told that I have to pay a £35 admin fee. My premium was the same but this is a standard across the board charge because I had simply moved home. I was told that it was to cover postage of policy documents and also for them to inform various other organisations. Thank you for taking the time to provide your experience and a review for us here, though I am sorry that are unhappy with our administration fee. In order to treat all customers fairly, we must be consistent and where a fee is correctly applied, uphold its charge. If we waive it for some and not others, we would be acting poorly as a company that puts customers first. I understand you feel that the task of changing your address sounds simple and therefore the fee is unreasonable, however it is not for profit. We as a broker incur a large portion of running costs in making mid term changes and we apply the fee to help recover these and in turn remain profitable and therefore competitive. These fees are also explained to you before purchase so you can compare what you might be charged to the other quotes you might have obtained. I am sorry you felt that our representatives explanation was irrelevant and I feel that he or she was likely trying to be helpful but perhaps not in the most appropriate way. We do include feedback in our fee reviews and I will pass yours on to help with this as well. Thanks again for your time.

“Car insurance - Worst Customer Service EVER”

Bought car insurance through a comparison site for it to start that date. Received email with wrong start date on was a month away. rang to change it and was kept on the phone for over a hour to say they would have to cancel the policy as cant change the date and I would have to pay £20 admin fee!! Because you are purchasing a Certificate to cover your car for exactly one year, it must begin and end on a specific date. These cannot be amended as they are contractually bound. All fine until I had to update my address. First they said will be £35. And it resulted in a change of the "premium" (means we charge you more for the same conditions). They wanted to charge me £165. All right, complain to council courts is in its way. Plus, lets do some maths. £165 + refund after cancellation = new insurance to my new address for a year.
