The Beatles - "a Hard Day's Night' Is A Film That
The Beatles - "A Hard Day's Night' is a film that I have been studying for my AS Film Studies course and I have found out whilst close watching the film that many of the representations of youths and so therefore the older generation were biased because the audience at that time would have been primaraly youths so the attention on the film was on making the youth culture appear to be full of energy etc. This created a biased view for me and made me have to pay further attention to the other characters in the film. I also felt that many of the secondary characters such as Shake, Norm and John McCartney were based on stereotypes which made their characters appear more offensive to the older generation so would have therefore affected the overall audience. There were many moments of surrealism in this film such as when The Beatles suddenly appeared outside the train whilst it was moving at the very beginning of the film. This was confusing and made me question the believability of the film throughout it. Altogether though, I feel that the film created a believable atmosphere of the sixties and showed off the experimental cinematography and editing along with the freedom that was represented throughout the film.
