The Matrix Revolutions - As A Third Part In The Tr
The Matrix Revolutions - As a third part in the trilogy, I'd say, an awesome movie. But I was really disappointed when it was over, because it just leaves you hanging! Did Neo die? And plus, in two hours of film, it was only one day!! What's up with that? I mean, come on. And why couldn't Neo bring Trinity back again? There are too many things that were left out! But Keanu Reeves, as always, played a wonderful role.
The Matrix Revolutions, I would probably recommend, if you have seen the first two, but if you haven't, don't bother with this one until you see the other two.
Well, Well, Where's It All Gone Wrong Eh? The Firs
Well, well, Where's it all gone wrong eh? The first Matrix was a triumph of clever plot and storytelling. Reloaded was definitely the thinking mans matrix (being a physicist, the whole "cause and effect" thing really tickled me). But this one was diabolical, the stoyline (i use the word loosely) was erratic, the fighting scenes seemingly random and pointless, and the most disappointing ending to what could have been a trilogy of star wars calibre. I'm a bit too dejected by the ending to write an awful lot about this, except that the zion invasion special effects were pure genius!
Before I Start I Am Going To Make This Review Of T
Before I start i am going to make this review of The Matrix Revolutions in two parts- part one for those who haven't seen the film and part two for those who have.
Part1
I went to watch this film full of anticipation after watching the first two films, The matrix had mind blowing effects and a great premise, then reloaded was released with all of its questions and deepness and then finally after 3yrs the third part of this trilogy with all its..........err...........explosions?
I was completely under whelmed, the dialogue when there was some was more like the script of Independence Day than the matrix ("kick his ass Neo" and "I believe in you neo, we all believe in you" examples of the deep thoughtful language on offer) As a no brainer action film this could just about hold its own but this is the matrix and we don't just go to see 2hrs of stuff being blown up.
All of the questions raised in the second film are just completely washed over in place of mindless action. (Why does Neo still have his powers in the real world, no elaboration on what the architect was talking about etc etc etc)
I have heard other reviewers talk about how the actors were playing bit parts in their own movie and I totally agree, take Morpheus for example, instead of being the proud, strong menacing leader he is in the other films he is reduced to about 6 murmured lines. If you added up all of the dialogue in this film it would probably not fill half an hours worth of movie.
This film was a big disappointment, in my opinion it has put a downer on the other films and has ruined what could have been a great trilogy. If you were never a fan of the matrix you may enjoy this film but as a fan you will probably leave the cinema shaking your head asking yourself why was the film made like it was, it could have been so much better.

Part2 (stop reading if you haven't watched the film)
Now onto the ending...
Is it just me or was anyone else disappointed by the ending. The matrix was supposed to be dark and foreboding with the ungodly soulless killing machines out to destroy mankind but in the end everyone goes away as friends, 2hrs of bloody combat then oh it doesn't matter lets just leave them be! What the film needed was one last twist to leave you thinking about what could happen. And in my opinion the bit with the little lad running in dancing and shouting "the wars over, zions saved" was just pathetic. If only he had said that, then with the audience tricked into thinking everything was over...a sentinel rears up behind him, the Zion crowd scream and try to run, fade to black, music. Voila the greatest ending of a film/trilogy ever...but alas no..."Zions saved the war is over" yay!
