Bought these a few days ago and I tell you what, plugged into my Mac Book Pro, they sound amazing! Going to use these for DJ'aying with the Pioneer CDJ range and it'll be a perfect match!

Fantastic sound quality. Great comfort. Price would be brilliant if they weren't so poorly built. I owned 2 pairs of these, they were used 5 nights a week but looked after and still both pairs snapped. After the second pair broke I bought the upgrade (HDJ 2000's) Ive never looked back since. They have an even better sound quality and comfort but are pretty much indestructible. They've lasted me 2 years now doing about 4/5 nights a week and will easily last another 2 years with ease! Spend the extra cash and trust me you will not be sorry!

OK I bought these headphones and they broke in under a year. I am always very careful with my audio equiptment and I have never broken a set of headphones before.
They do sound nice though. A little on the treble side, but i prefer this when beatmatching. The look pretty cool and they are very loud.
Why have i given this 2 stars?...... Because i am a fool for buying these when i could of got Sennheiser hd25s. The sennheisers really are professional headphones, and the audio quality is unbelievable. They are top notch for DJing and studio monitoring. Also, with the Sennheisers you dont have to worry 24/7 about breaking them.
When i got my Pioneers i read the reviews from people saying they break, but i thought they must just be the sort of people who break all their stuff etc. I was wrong because mine broke when i was taking the off my head one handed. And everyone i know who has had a pair has broken them. I will never but them again. I love my sennheisers.
Basically, the Pioneers are posers headphones. They do look nice, but everyone who is in the industry knows that anyone wearing them is posing.
The only reason you woud get the Pioneers over the Sennheisers is because of the looks.

I love them but after 3 pairs breaking after about owning them for 3 months then i have to revert back to Seinheisser. I use them everyday djing for 6 hours a night so I need something more durable.

I am not a DJ and use these babys for home listening. They seem fairly tough too me. And i am very impressed with the audio quality and bass it kicks out. The Pioneer HDJ-1000 are a great pair of headphones i would recommend to anyone looking for quality audio.

If you can baby them and treat them like tissue paper that you only want for 1-6 months, fine the sound is worth $120. Don't pay more than that for the HDJ-1000. I had to repair them about 2 months after I got them, then again on the opposite side a month later. then finally about a year into the life the internal something was beyond anything I could manage to fix. Just sounds like a digital mess.

The Pioneer HDJ-1000 headphones really do sound great, and are well worth the money. This is only if you are prepared to buy a new set every year. The plastic swivel joints are badly designed, and everyone I know who has owned these has broken at least one set during normal use. There's nothing worse than your headphones breaking whilst DJing.

As much as i love the Pioneer HDJ-1000 headphones. I have gone through 5 pairs of the same hdj-1000 for 3 years. I've only purchased 2 the other were replaced by Pioneer itself. But I've got to say these are simply the worst build headphones I've ever used in my dj'ing career.
They have a weakness point from the ball joint outer plastic cube wich cracks and breaks.
Their other weakness wich I believe is a manufacturing fault is one of the speakers in the headphones cuts out. I am never going to purchase another Pioneer pair of headphones again unless they bring out a new design wich would be stronger and has no faults.
I am now using Senheiser hd25 which are undoubtably the best.
