I'm Your Fan (Tribute to Leonard Cohen)

We have two copies of this CD in our household - one the US release and one the UK. This is accidental, as we each owned one when we met, but both of us refuse to part with a copy, partially because the releases are slightly different, partially because we love Leonard Cohen in our house, and partially because this is a really fantastic tribute album full of startlingly good renditions of Leonard Cohen classics.

My particular favourites are R.E.M.'s version of "First We Take Manhattan," James' "So Long Marianne," and John Cale's now classic rendition of "Hallelujah," possibly better than the original! Ian McCulloch's "Hey That's No Way to Say Goodbye" is not bad, but not as good as his version of "Lover, Lover, Lover" which appears on his Mysterio album.

So, as tribute albums go, this is a cut above, featuring fantastic songs by one of the world's greatest songwriters performed by some of the best bands on the planet!
