We have purchased a Samsung 55", from Comet due to our previous Samsung being dark at the bottom and predominantly red all over. The new on delivered last Friday has shaded corners and red extremes when the lesser red is showing. This is why we replaced it.I have been trying to get in touch early in the morning. They have no humanoids only machines that give you the run-around.Like Sky, if one could speak to an engineer to go through some basic posabilities. I can't give my telephone no. to you because I am prevented from doing so. Please do not tell me it is cheap. I still want to watch it. Our last Samsung was fine for 10years, until the same problems started and we bought this one. Have a I had or poor model supplied to me?

I PURCHASED A CREDA TUMBLE DRYER, FROM COMET - ST OSWALDS PARK, GLOUCESTER, IN 2012. I ONLY HAD IT FOR 2 DAYS AND IT DEVELOPED A FAULT. I WENT BACK TO THE STORE, AND COMPLAINED. THEY SAID THEY WOULD ARRANGE FOR IT TO BE PICKED UP AND REPLACED. TWO WEEKS LATER, AFTER PHONE CALLS, NO SIGN OF COMET, SO WENT BACK TO THE STORE AND COMPLAINED AGAIN. STILL NO JOY. IT WAS NOT UNTIL I WENT TO TRADING STANDARDS THAT THE BALL STARTED ROLLING, AND EVENTUALLY HAD A NEW TUMBLE DRYER DELIVERED. WHY DOES ONE HAVE TO GO TO SUCH LENGTHS TO HAVE MATTERS PUT RIGHT. IT'S NOT THE FIRST TIME I'VE HAD TROUBLE WITH COMET. THEY WERE PROFESSIONALS AT CAUSING AGGRO FOR THE CUSTOMER. I AM GLAD TO SEE THE BACK OF THEM AND THEIR STAFF.

I love shopping in Comet, the staff there is so knowledgeable and helpful, and I always seem to find the right item, of the right colour shape and form. Great shop that one.

In August 2012 a muslim man in Selly Oak persuaded me to buy additional things I did not want on top of the Samsung tv I wanted to buy for my parents. I paid in advance. He tried to get me to buy on credit or debit card, but having suffered being robbed many times I never carry my id on me. My DADDY WAS ANGRY. i WENT BACK AND CANCELLED EVERYTHING. He still paid me no refund even thou I took nothing with me and returned monster unit unopened unused...

I had a Macbook Pro which i bought from Comet. I had a bag which i carried my Macbook around with, and the handle snapped off as i was walking and the Macbook flew right out onto the floor. Had a minor dent but the screen was damaged. I had insurance and warranty so i sent it of for repair, 3 weeks later i got told it couldn't be repaired so they were going to send me a cheque. 4 and a half weeks later (today) still not received any cheque and no one knows when I will receive it. I ask, and they always have an excuse "You're not the only one who needs a cheque, there are many others in your shoes". Then i get into an arguement with them since i i don't have a laptop and probably be a very long time until i get my money back for it.

I went to Comet yesterday to a store that was closing for good. It's such a shame. My heart goes out to those individuals who have worked there for years. People who I have always found to be kind and genuinely interested in helping and who through no fault of their own are now out of a job. This recession is being very cruel and who knows how businesses that actually have stores can keep going?

As we all know Comet has been taken over by the administratos Deloitte. I bought a Samsung television in September of 2008 and took out an extended warranty. The television developed a fault on 12/11/12.I rung Comet and was advised it was still business as usual and arranged for it to be picked up on the 15/11/12 From that day until today 10/12/12,I have been fobbed off and essentially 'led up the garden path' in regard to any inquiries regarding the repair. Initially I was told the repair centre was awaiting a part. After a few calls ,I was told this part was due to arrive on the 3/12/12 and would be called that evening to arrange a return delivery. On the 4/12/12 I called after no contact from Comet and was advised that the system was still showing that the part was delivered. However, there were no couriers that were contracted to deliver any stock for Comet.By this time I requested my television returned unrepaired. To this the reply was ,there were no couriers to deliver my tv back.Secondly the repair centre would not allow me to come and get it myself due to health and safety. Also I could not hire a delivery company to get it back to me. On 8/12/12 I spoke to the helpline again and was advised all stock was being returned to the depot and I should get a call the week beginning the 10/12/12 to arrange a delivery as they now had couriers. I have phoned today 10/12/12 just to be advised that the part for my television was due on the 12/12/12.I have explained that I just wanted my television back as I had lost faith in their system. To this I was told there were actually no couriers in place and I could not have it back. My extended warranty company have taken the position of :'a comet manager has to sign off stating that my television is beyond repair.Essentially it is as they have not got the part . If the practices of Comet are not unlawful(keeping my property, unwilling to return, fully paid for) I certainly consider it unethical.

I have a similar problem with my Toshiba T.V. which went in for repair in November. I was assured that it would go to an outside repaired not connected with comet. This was not the case and it ended up in Comet repair shop. I had a call to tell me it had been fixed and would be delivered on Sunday 2nd Dec but it didn't turn up. I have been calling them daily since then but have been fobbed off with nothing but lies and false promises that it would be delivered back to me. I was told on 8th Dec that it would be delivered by Yodel but I have spoken to Yodel who do not have any such arrangements with Comet to make deliveries on it's behalf ( another lie by Comet). I expressed a wish to collect my T.V. myself but was also told this would not be allowed. How can this be the case? IT IS MY T.V.!!! I have today (14th December) been told that it will be delivered before Fri 21st December but this will probably turn out to be another lie. When I asked for a tracking number for my T.V. Comet did not have one. Funny that!
I am now awaiting another call on the promise from Comet that I will be contacted to arrange a specific delivery time. I'm not holding my breath as I have no faith in anything they tell me now after having been told so many bare faced lies! When I first contacted them when my T.V. was not delivered as arranged on 2nd Dec I was told that the delivery van had broken down and 2 or 3 items could not be delivered as planned. Today they have told me that there are in fact over 2000 items awaiting delivery to customers after being repaired. This is appalling customer service. Surely it cannot be legal to withold property that belongs to someone else. I'm not even allowed to arrange my own courier. This whole business is unethical. No wonder Comet have gone out of business. I bet they don't get any return customers.

The service is appalling!!! I have phoned today. 18/12/12just to be told that Yodel has only started calling customers TODAY! the administrators apparently sent the email this morning....I don't understand how this can be going on and how people can just lie again and again

Have extended warranty, tv went n for repair but parts are not available. We were due to have a replacement tv sent but 2 days before delivery date the news of administration broke out - to cut a long story short £20 worth of about 30 phone calls, no tv, no refund and Comet have our £800 tv. No-one will help us and keep getting told a different story every time I phone.

Yesterday I visited the Northampton branch of Comet, I told the assistant that I was interested in the new ipad 16gb as they were offering a 10% discount. He told me that he had one left but he had to go and validate that the stock was there. The assistant went off into the back of the store to check. Gone for about five or ten minutes he reappeared frantically looking for one of his colleagues whom was eventually located sitting in his car smoking. They both then returned to the back of the store and eventually reappeared with the ipad. They tried to convince me that although the box had been opened this was a brand new ipad which had never been used, however the screen protector had clearly been removed and replaced and the product in general looked grubby and used! They made up excuses as to why the box was opened but I felt that something wasn't quit right so decided not to buy. Then they seemed to be a bit aggreaved with me and it felt like they were trying to intimidate me into buying it. I believe this wasn't a new ipad and was either a customer return or had been used by one of the assistants that was trying to sell it to me! I said this to them and he just stood up and said "You don't want it then" and walked away looking rather annoyed. Shameful

I said in a complaint last year that if they continue to treat customers like they do they won't have a business left. This is nothing to do with the recession as places like Currys and Argos are still going strong. Why? Simple because they treat the customers decently, fairly and with dignity. Good riddance.

I couldn't agree with you more. I used the Gloucester Branch on Eastern Avenue, Gloucester. I do not feel sorry for a single member of staff there, when they were open. If they could catch you out for a few pounds, they most certainly would.. I said exactly the same thing.....carry on like you are Comet, and it will not be long before customers will not be returning. The result was as I predicted, 'CLOSED DOWN'. Companies like Comet don't get a second chance. Glad they have gone. Good Riddance, and stay closed!

I purchased a TV which was faulty when I opened it , I returned it to the store in Birstall Leeds and was informed they could not exchange it and I would have to get an engineers report in order to either get a refund or exchange. I contacted the engineer who could not visit for two weeks, when he did he established the set was faulty and I should return it to the store. I returned it and got an exchange, at no point did any one appologised for the I inconvenience or the fact that it had taken over two weeks to authorise a return. I did contact customer services and they were rude and unhelpful. I was out of pocket with this having to drive to the shop an additional twice 14 miles each way and the cost of the calls to contact the engineer were £4.10 p. This is very poor customer service I'm not surprised Commet is going out of business they should have looked after there customers a lot better !!!!!

Purchased item day before went into administration in full faith and no knowledge of isses. Was meant to be delivered yesterday - didn't arrive, no call, nothing then called today and discover as not in stock at a distribution centre we won't get our £300 item, and we won't get our money back. Fair enough if we'd bought after the administrators came in. Now Comet/ Delloitte have stolen from us

I bought and paid for a fridge freezer 13/10/12 delivery arranged for Sun 4/11/12. Sunday I get a call from the delivery guy at 2.30 pm he will be here in an hour. 5pm still no delivery rang the guy back he hung up then turned hos phone off.Rang customer services Monday was told the van broke down delivery re booked for today am. Midday I called again my delivery is on its way they are running late; 5pm still no delivery called customer services again this time told they had no money to fuel the van. I can t have a refund as they are in administration, they have offered to deliver this Thursday!! I am now in a position I have paid for goods I am extremely unlikely to receive, and I have to apply to the administrators for a refund which will be a complete waste of time of they have no money how are they going to give me my money back!!! What I feel most aggrieved about is they knew they were in trouble but still took my money anyway.

purchased a laptop from this company...had it less than a year it's been in for repair, hinges and screen needed replacing, needs to go in again for replacement battery as it will not hold it's charge and it keeps overheating, comet won't give me my money back or a replacement laptop so now stuck with a pile of rubbish

I bought a Sony Vaio laptop from Comet which overheated and died soon after purchase. I returned it to the store to be first told that I would have to contact the manufacturer. When reminded of the sale of goods act Comet reluctantly agreed to send it for repair. This took three weeks for them to advise me that they could not repair it and I would need to purchase a new laptop. I again advised them of the sale of goods act and that the laptop was not "fit for purpose". I made many calls to their head office in Hull who never returned my calls. I also sent many recorded delivery letters and eventually had to get trading standards involved and threaten to take them to the small claims court. This all took several months.

I have to admit that Comet aren't great.
Or anywhere near great, for that matter.
Well done Comet! You're doing great...NOT.

I agree, and the prices itself are ridiculous.. that's why ever since i was introduced to a website which builds your pc by the components you choose from their big list.. I stopped buying any computers or laptops, but rather self built..
I'm not going to mention the site even though i owe them big time because of how much satisfied i am with them (top customer service, quality and best bang for your buck)
I'm only going the company is in the uk, and i promise you if you start doing custom build pcs you will never regret it.. (btw make sure you check the company vat to see if they are legit and registered, you dont want to get scammed bro)

Hi there who is the insurance company that underwrites for comet?
