I would say that the strokes have received some harsh criticism from the press, and people that just like to put bands down. Often compared to new york compatriots Television, which the band staunchly deny, people just wont have it. The fact of the matter is this band brought excitement to a scene that was still stuck in the seventies and early eighties. While they have their influences as so many bands do, this record stands alone as one of the greats.
