Evanescence, Fallen Is Good On The Cd But The Best
Evanescence, Fallen is good on the CD but the best live in concert. Who wouldn't like the music. Very, very depressing though but who cares? EVANESCENCE RULES!

I Have Already Glanced Through The Other Reviews W
I have already glanced through the other reviews written and everyone has pretty much summed it up. Evanescence's 'Fallen' is a very unique album that none of us were expecting in today's punk loving music community. But no one really went into depth on why it was so great. Is this really the CD you want to spend your hard earned money on? I'll do my best to help you decide.
To begin with, the instrumental background is something I have never heard before. The band takes hardcore metal and adds violins, cellos, piano, the works. What I thought would sound completely ridiculous turned out to be the most amazing thing I have ever heard. 'My Immortal' is a beautiful ballad, and while most bands would leave it with vocals and piano, the most logical thing to do, Evanescence took it to a whole other level. They added drums and guitar (both are pretty risky in such a delicate ballad) and added a whole orchestra behind that making the sound feel full rather than dull and lifeless as it would have been with traditional piano and vocals.
Which is not to say that piano, played by vocalist/pianist Amy Lee, isn't amazing by itself. Under Lee's hands the songs are given a "texture", in a sense. Those who play instruments should have an idea what I'm talking about. With the right skill a song can sound delicate, rough, etc. Lee, without a doubt, has this skill.
On to the lyrics, if you're looking for bouncy up-lifting songs, I'm going to be honest, this album is not for you. While these songs may be beautiful and inspiring, they are not in any way going to give you a more optimistic outlook on life. They are honest, edgy, sorrowful, and moving. They make you think. Hard. For example, the song 'Hello' is a beautiful song but it took several times of listening very carefully to truly understand the meaning of the lyrics. Almost all the songs have metaphors or some hidden way of saying things. While many bands who attempt this over-do it, making the song completely nautical, Evanescence gives the song more... personality, for lack of a better word.
In these lyrics you'll find suicide, tragedy, betrayal, and raw songwriting talent. Some say the lyrics are depressing, but I find them truly inspiring. Maybe it's the songwritter in me, or maybe it's just morbid side of me. Either way, there's something in these songs you have to hear to truly understand why I'm raving on about them.
And last but not least, vocals. What more can I say about Amy Lee that hasn't already been said? She's been getting rave reviews from everywhere, appearing at the Grammy's for a live preformance and even at the VMA's, I believe.
Her voice is what you would expect to find at a watered down opera performance, not in a metal album at Wal-mart. It's incredible. She's the Alicia Keys of rock. But even Keys has nothing on Lee. She has this hypnotic, enigmatic voice that just floors me. There is truly nothing to describe a voice like this. The vocals bring the already beautiful lyrics soaring above every other album of the genre.
So overall, I was amazed and relieved to find such talent. Today so many people can get away with having so-so voices that you don't find much talent like this. This is definetly something you need to hear to understand. But I stand behind it no matter what.
Ok, this is my look on Evanescence. Dont like it, then oh well. I think this band is the best i have heard in a loooooong time! People think the songs are to cruel and sad, well i find them real and actually it makes me happy. It makes me think of how i need to think before i go on and on about my problems. i think of how there is always some one with a bigger issue than i do. i think the songs have a truth and they go where i dont think any one has gone or ever will go for a very very very long time! No i am any thing but goth. im closer to being a pink elephant on a childrens show than goth but i think that this band shatters the lost and empty vassels, that we call our bodies, freeing our souls from further torture from others. I listen to this band all day and all night. At school you could be talking about Barney or Teletubbies and i would change the subject to how awesome, great, perfect, ect. ( i could and i want to go further! ;)) this band really is. we turned the biggest preps in our school, ya know the ones with the blonde hair blue eyes and pink from head to toe, into hard core screw every one else black is my friend dirty nails dark hair maniacs! This band honestly and truly, is my idol. Not the whole goth thing ( i hardly ever wear black and my nails are like mirrors. ) but the fact that this band is based on life and how it sucks and that you need to get over it! if i had a choice to be on this band for 3 years and die or live to be 7628426846328756439340570478 years old, i would choose the band! not cause they are cool and stuff ( yah thats part of it ) but because they are real! the songs have lessons! people wake outta care bear lala smurf land! been there and yah the bunnies are cute but ya gotta realize the bunnies have rabies! this band is great bottom line!

Evanescence, Fallen - A Definite Yes! Evanescence
Evanescence, Fallen - A definite YES! Evanescence seem to be able to combine hard rock/alternative with soft piano ballads and violins with ease, and the result is absolutely amazing. The vocals of Amy Lee are absolutely brilliant; not exactly what you'd expect to hear in everyday music. The track is a great mix, and while it all revolves around alternative, we have ballads, hard rock, nu metal and slight heavy metal to make Fallen. Highly recommended.

This Album Is A Mixed Bag. It Includes All The Ev
This album is a mixed bag. It includes all the Evanescence favourites but the best it yet to be seen. The best tracks are nearer the end and they show the real Evanescence. I must admit though, the whole album is a bit repetative. After you have listened to it a few times you'll see what I mean. All the tracks begin to sound the same. The vocals in the tracks are great though. Amy Lee has one of these voices that only she could have. It's not the type of voice you expect to hear in this type of music.
Overall - A mixed bag of an album with its bad points and good points.

Fallen Is A Great Album Due To The Powerful And Ha
Fallen is a great album due to the powerful and haunting voice of Amy Lee combined with lyrics that provide themes of love, destruction and betrayal. Definitely a must buy. Highlights include "Hello" and My Immortal as well as "Bring Me To Life" included on the Daredevil soundtrack. Every track is emotion filled and builds into a great song.

I LOVE "Fallen" by Evanescence. Especially "Bring me to life" and "Hello" are cool. I like "My Imortal", but the video version is definitely much better than the version provided on CD.
