I bought this Nokia 3510i phone when it 1st came, many moons ago! What a cracker! There was't many cameras phones back then, polyphonic & internet was the latest. Dropped many times, Excellent battery life, needs charged once a week & superb at getting a signal!! Does what it said on the box then & still does now! Change? It does what I need it to do, while other people can't a signal, run out of battery or just won't work, the 3510i just does it's job!

My friend had a Nokia 3510i on O2, and I was really impressed, so I bought one. The casing scratches easily. The games that come with it are not very good. The screen isn't the best quality, but the poor quality pictures from orange world didn't help. The battery life is excellent, and it once bleeped low battery for nearly 4 days. It never broke. If you want a cheap, good looking phone I would recommend it straight away.

It doesn't have any of the new features i.e. Bluetooth, however I have had this phone for over 2 years and both the battery and the phone are still in good working order. I have never had problems with this phone! An excellent choice for someone looking for the basics.

written by JRHTowers on 13/06/2005

Although the Nokia 3510i lacks many of the more sophisticated features of later phones, in terms of its ergonomics, this is the best I have ever used (and I have used many). The keys are nicely spaced and also extremely well illuminated when pressed without any noticeable compromise to battery life. In fact the keys are clearly visible in any light from bright sunlight to pitch dark which makes for very fast texting, a process which many newer phones manage to make extremely difficult, particularly in semi-light conditions.

The screen font size is also nice and big which makes it very legible.

One seemingly little-known feature of this phone is its huge text capacity for SMS messages - I have started many a letter on this phone where even handheld computers would be a burden.

If Nokia were to combine the same ergonomics into a more modern design (and perhaps smooth the keys off a little), they would have a winner.

The Nokia 3510i is a great little phone and has most of the basic features you would want. I like the colour screen and polyphonic ringtones, the battery life is great and it's very sturdy. The WAP facility is very useful for stuff like finding out sports results, news and train times.

However, it's quite bulky and thus doesn't score highly from an aesthetics point of view, text messaging capability is inferior to earlier models (on the 3310 one message could contain 450 characters, this one can only take 160)and the menus are a bit confusing (I'd had the phone for five months before finding the reminders feature!)Before this phone I had a Nokia 3310 which, although monophonic and monochromic, I found more user friendly.

★★★★★

written by portsmouthrule2005 on 04/04/2005

The Nokia 3510i was the first MMS phone to be released by Nokia and hopes were high as I shelled out 120 quid for it. I wasn't dissapointed as the colour screen was excellent and the features even better than ever. The introduction of full scale wap and multi media messaging meant you could store almost anything on your phone. There wasn't anything special about the accessories you receive with the phone, as Nokia seem to want to screw you out of as much money as possible but you do get a choice of colour. The reliability came about 1 month before I was due to change my phone when it wouldn't ring properly and kept switching off, carphone warehouse diagnosed it as a chipset problem and it would cost more than a new phone to repair. It's a shame really because it was a great phone.

The Nokia 3510i is not a good phone if your parents are tight because this phone will never break so they will never buy you a new one!

★★★☆☆

written by nitrousjunkie on 25/12/2004

I've had my 3510i since august 2003 and at first I was pretty impressed (well wouldn't you be going to this from a crummy 3330 with constant software crashes) it was brand new & unlocked to any network on a dual band frequency, £70+3330 job done (I had a few goodies with it as well like hands free kits, signal boosters etc which pushed the price up)
But now I'm getting sick of the stupid thing, the '7' button becomes iffy, so when you're texting someone you get typo errors 'cos you don't have any P's Q'S R'S & S's. any wall papers you download have to be at the resolution of the screen allready otherwise they just look horrible, some of the ringtones sound tangy, crackle, hiss, click and sometimes cut notes out all together, then plays them next time! I know it's only 4 chord BUT COME ON! A new problem that has recently developed is that I cant save operator logos of any sort on the phone, it now hates my data cable, and when I plug it in the phone refuses to switch on.

**********

To cut a long story short the phone works great for about 6 months then goes down hill over time, I would recommend buying one of these if your desperate for a phone, want some sort of tuneful ringtone (not beep beep SHREEK) want a colour screen so you can play some half decent games, and need to text and call people, otherwise go for something more up market if your budget allows it.

written by Georgio on 01/12/2004

Well I got my Nokia 3510i around October last year and at the time it was a great phone. However, it is now obvious how bad this phone actually is even if it still retains its good features.

The price is definitely good at about £50 which is a 50% decrease from last year when it was anything up to £125. If you do not have a high budget or do not want a top-of-the-line phone then buy this!

As far as features go, this phone does give value for money. It sports polyphonic ringtones, java games, a colour screen and an easily accessible menu.

However this phone is not without its faults. This is the upgraded version of the 3510 with a black and white display but in reality, this should be the 3510 and a camera should've been implemented for the 3510i. Having just said that, I doubt that photos would be legible as the phone's resolution is POOR!

To sum up, this is a great phone if you are new to mobile phones or you just don't use it that much. When christmas comes I will definitely be disposing of this phone in favour for something much better!

My Nokia 3510i wouldn't work after three months of purchase. Orange would not change it only repair it. Three times for repair and no better. Went back to Nokia then worked for six weeks and is now 'DEAD'. I will Never buy a Nokia phone again.

At first I was really excited about my 3510i! Then I held it and it feels really weak, cheap. The screen sucks and it has some problems. It sometimes switches off then back on. I wouldn't recommend it at all. It's a rip off. Active covers are good though. The vibrate is actually louder than the ring tone! and the tones sound a little distorted.

I had this phone for almost a year now and it has been working great, I had no problems with it till now.....

I find the phone pretty cool, you can do almost everything with like sending pictures..... It has a BRIGHT LCD screen which I find quite useful in the dark and also a loud speaker.

I would recommend this phone to anyone who wants a phone that offers you almost everything for a great price.

Your phone must be unique because mine certainly didn't have a loudspeaker function - are you talking about the 3510i?

It is the 3510i I am talking about, sorry because I forgot to mention that monophonic tones are louder than polyphonic tones.

I have had my Nokia 3510i for 7 months now, I got it last Christmas because that was my first ever phone and I wanted one so I got the 3510i because it was great value for money.
Now I keep saying to myself when am I going to get a new mobile?
I now hate my phone because it is too big and the colour screen is poor.
I am getting a Nokia 1100 next week because they are cheap and compact. But I also want a Motorola v50 or a Motorola v150.

The Nokia 3510i a very good phone for the money but if you could afford something a bit bitter go for it. The colour screen is a bit low on pixels so it tends to look all smudged on some wallpapers and the polyphonic ring tones are only 4 cord, my current phone is 40 cord 4 times better, but over all I have to say it was a great phone for the money I paid for it. It is overall a great phone for someone who just wants a phone to call and txt people.

I got the 3510i phone about a year ago now and have not had a single problem with it. As with most Nokia it's reliable and very easy to use. The menu is the same as all the previous Nokia phones which is a great bonus if you've had a Nokia before. As for the features, the phone has a very good colour screen for the money you're paying, allowing you to play some awesome games. The polyphonic ringtones, changeable fascias and customisable background adds style, although the tones aren't as good as you'd get on a something like a Sagem, but again it's good for the money your paying. If your looking for a solid, reliable and easy to use phone, this is the one, but if you're looking for a modern stylish phone, perhaps look elsewhere.

written by Veronica on 09/06/2004

Got this Nokia 3510i mobile phone on an upgrade (from a 3330). The first thing I noticed was the horrid orange - why? This is a good phone for people who talk and text only and don't care about flashy 'buy me' gizmos like cameras and games (i.e. anyone who's not a teenager). It misses some useful features like speakerphone (preserve those braincells) and tri-band for european travellers but there are other Nokia's with these features if you need them.

The backlight is very good and puts on a good lightshow in the dark with the buttons and the rather 'atractive' orange bits lighting up too.

One major gripe is that the tones have hiss and clicks on them which show they've been badly sampled (click-ring-ring-hiss-click). Very bad!

I'd only go for something better if you can haggle on your next upgrade (my brother haggled with Orange and got a free Motorola V600!!!! - yes I said free!)

I got my Nokia 3510i mobile phone for my birthday and its great! The colour screen isnt the best when you compare it to another phone but the great sounding polyphonic ringtones and games make up for its size! I would reccomend this phone to a person who uses there phone to talk a lot but to also have a go on the games while waiting for the train to go to work. Matt Nottingham

I have owned this Nokia 3510i mobile phone for over a year now (which is amazing in itself as i usually change my phone every 3 months). I love it, its reliable and easy to use. Its also fun and not a mobile to be ashamed of. The speed of downloading games is amazing, the colour schemes are great and the accesories are very good and reasonable priced. All round this is THE best mobile I have ever owned. Thanks nokia.
