Mogwai's Happy Songs for Happy People is far more mellow than previous albums but that is not a bad thing. Opening track, 'hunted by a freak' is possibly one of their greatest achievements to date with breathtaking harmonies building to what is a quite haunting experience. If you prefer Sigur ros to Mogwai then this is the Mogwai album for you. gentle and brooding... but as always with Mogwai, brilliant and at times breathtaking

Overall, Mogwai, Happy Songs for Happy People is a fine rock record. It is not for oasis fans as it's basically instrumental in form. I guess Sigur/Radiohead types will most likely give it the repeated listens it deserves.
