Tool's Debut: Undertow

Firstly, I would like to point out that full length debut's are always special, with the second album giving more of a chance to refine the sound, n this instance AEnima.

This is is an album that is recognized to have been an exceptionally successful debut. It is dark, heavy, exciting and although not nearly as complex compared to the rest of the albums, it is still very intricate. Danny Carey is a very impressive drummer and contributes solid and exciting backbeats to every track, Adam Jones creates some exciting dynamics and great rythms, Paul D'amour plays the bass more like a lead guitarist and makes it very exciting, and lastly Maynard generates emotional and mysterious lyrics, which is a legacy that is continued throughout their career.

It is always nice to point out favourite tracks however this is just too difficult, as they all blend well, however I can say that the ones that you immediately accustom to are: Intolerance, Prison ***, Sober, Bottom and Crawl Away. However this isn't to say the rest aren't good and the whole album is worth a great listen.

The only reason I have given this a 4 star is that AEnima and Lateralus are just so good, with this one and 10,000 days, just a few paces behind
