I Downloaded Drukqs A While Ago, About This Time L

I downloaded Drukqs a while ago, about this time last year.

I'm not a big fan of Aphex Twin, but I do like some of his material - generally I find the slower, less complex varieties to be better.

Make no mistakes - when you pay for this album you get very good value for money. There are two CDs making up thirty tracks in total - but be warned, I did not find this album to be a grower in any way.

It is likely that the tracks you like from the offset will be the ones that you continue to like, and the ones that you find yourself ' skipping ' will never get much better, although your music tastes may change over time which is a factor.

Drukqs is a diverse and complex compilation from Aphex Twin, and is worthy of purchase to any fan of the IDM genre.

I Struggled To Think Of Any Bad Point For Aphex Tw

I struggled to think of any bad point for Aphex Twin, Drukqs. I purchased this album a few years ago for listening to while on holiday.

This album shows some of Aphex Twin's best qualities such as his extreme ability to create complicated electronic music and his ease of mixing genres together. Most Aphex fans know that this album is essential to own and I would recommend if you have never heard any Aphex Twin to buy Drukqs first. In terms of contrast between songs Drukqs comes out in 1st place - the best example being Avril 14th - a mind blowingly beautiful piano solo placed inbetween two brutally fast electronic nightmares.

This is effectively a compilation album of previously unreleased Aphex Twin tracks that had piled up over some time. Aphex jokes in interviews that the album consists of several fake Aphex Twin tracks he found on the internet. Drukqs has a "pick n' mix" feel to it but don't let this put you off. I'd easily say that this is the best album I've brought in the last few years. It'll lead you into the genre called "Intelligent Dance Music" - more commonly known as IDM. In this genre you can discover some other amazing music from electronic musicians trying to push the boundaries in terms of musical complexity and music technology although IDM is much disputed in terms of definition you'll get a lot of Drukqs type albums if you search for it.

Highly recommended.

I found the tracklisting a little mixed up, but having said that I never really got into the album as a whole.

There are some great tracks on Drukqs though.
