“I have owned 4 of these in 6 years and all broke”

Rubbish X 100000 Do not buy - plenty of other great stylish toasters out there with durability, this is not one of them. I was given one of these for my wedding along with the matching kettle. Both broke within 18 months. I have since gone on to buy numerous replacements, but the toaster just broke AGAIN this week - This time I will not replace it! What I don't understand is, surely all of the people who have bought these Porche items must have returned them numerous times to be replaced or fixed yet SIEMENS still DO NOT fix the problem??? WHY??? These items obviously have major defects. Don't throw your money away on these gorgeous looking items, please read all the reviews and go for 5 star items. Thanks

“Robust externals hide the delicate mechanism”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 10/12/2011

We are on our 2nd kettle and 3rd toaster, toaster just wont stay down or heat up. called siemens and complained they said they would look at it free of charge then quoted £100 to fix it. They even denied there is an inherent problem, hah we know different. I have taken it apart now twice cant see whats causing issue so threw in the bin now. Siemens should be ashamed, companies should be in business to keep their customers happy not feel ripped off!!

The Kettle breaks after about 18 months, followed quickly by the toaster.
My toaster has just broken again - this time, I AM NOT BUYING THIS BRAND AGAIN!
Yeh, it looks good, but the mechanics are RUBBISH!!!

“Great looking toaster but we have had so many problems...”

Great looking toaster but we have had so many problems with it - we are on our second now. The first we treated ourselves to with the kettle (never had any problems with the kettle)about four years ago - the mechanism that holds your croissant broke, the cover wouldnt work and the handle on the side got really stiff that you hurt your wrist trying to work it - we took it back to John Lewis within 18 months and got a free replacement. Now this one - again after 18 months - the handle is stiff and the sensor/programmer doesn't work - it doesn't know how to switch itself off which is slightly dangerous! I asked Siemens for help and they asked me to send the toaster with a £9 inspection fee and then they'd let me know the additional fixing costs!! They should offer a refund! So its now in a cupboard. Not a great toaster. And definately not value for money.

“A device which is basically an "electromagnet" retains...”

★★☆☆☆

written by Ernest Lack on 10/06/2008

A device which is basically an "electromagnet" retains the heating elements in the lowered (hot) postion till toasting is complete. This tiny bar eventually gets dirty through fine crumbs of bread becoming damp and then sticking to the metal, thus preventing the "electromagnet" from holding the heaters down. Because of our vastly exaggerated "safety" madnes, the screws in toasters are so designed that no ordinary "screwdriver" can open up the machine.
Does nobody realise that any housewife or CHILD can easily change fuses in an electrical plug, using an ordinary screwdriver?!?
Safety? Don't make me laugh.

“I decided to buy the TT91100GB toaster because of its...”

I decided to buy the TT91100GB toaster because of its sexy outer body which houses the mechanics of what i can only describe as as being out of this world. I experimented in the first few months of purchase with different bread ranging from white all the way to brown (including best of both) also experimenting with different accompaniments. After weeks of testing i have found that cooking Kingsmill white thin sliced bread using Tesco value Butter is close to heavenly. Cook at 4.5. Once it has 'maxed out' as we say in the toasting industry push back down for a further 20 - 25 seconds. But why not just set it at 5 i hear you ask?. Well, It has been tried and tested by my specialists in the town of Prestwood, England that cooking these specs at 5 can cause disastorous effects and will not delever the peak performance that this porsche is capable of. This is down to the heating coil located in the upper left quadrant of this particular model. Once it has maxed out the thermal resistor kicks into place, cooling the coil rapidly from a perfect 150 degrees celsius to the precise room temperature that it is placed in. I have recently been in touch with the chairman of the psychiatric department in the state of Mississippi, USA who has undergone tests that proves that 3 pieces of the above explained slices of toast can help a longer period of REM a night and cuts the risk of nightmares substantially. In conclusion, a brilliant model. Wonderful Design. In a league of its own and makes the best kind of company. yours sincerley J.Royds PHD MRPC CCNA CCNP CCIE TROOP

i quite agree. the sleek and sexy nature of this toaster led to many buttery moments of intimacy between myself and certain bread based edibles. the stamina and performance was unrivalled, and left me feeling satisfied night after night. my life would be incomplete without this great toaster. yet another inovative invention that has made life convienient and tasty. thanks you to the inventors of this piece of art, life would be duller without it .

Althought his toaster was received as a gift, it was incredibly expensive for very poor toasting results. The slot is not big enough to fit a standard slice of bread and although the heating elements are susposed to toast evenly -they don't - ever! I have purchased far cheaper, more efficient and durable toasters than this one. Looks nice though.

It's not wide enough to accomodate a thick slice of bread? How thick do you want your bread? I've gotten bagels and thick belgian waffles in there, as well as ... thick slices of bread. So I'm confused about your first comment. As for the even toasting; it does a pretty decent job in my opinion. The strength of the toaster certainly is its appearance though; as I know there are more adjustable and better cheaper toasters out there. But who cares. It's a toaster.

i allways cut my slices in half anyway to achieve better results in any toaster - besides - I have a bog standard 'wire wall' element Tefal 2 slice, now a Dualit - good old Dualit, my Grandma had one in her hotel, god what a workhorse it is - get one of those!

“The Siemens TT91100GB toaster (designed by F.A...”

written by Chris. on 09/11/2002

The Siemens TT91100GB toaster (designed by F.A Porsche) works by having two heating elements facing each other on either side of the toaster. The theory is that the curved reflective inner surface will ditribute the heat evenly, producing wonderfull results. Utter rubbish - the elements toast best in the dead centre of the machine with the toast often starting to char here, whilst it remains as dry bread at the outer edges. The pop-up mechanism works poorly with the machine needing shaking on occasion to get it to rise. For the £80 spent I could have bought half a dozen so called inferior toasters that would have produced better results. Shame, especially as the coffee maker (same brand, same range) works superbly well.
