“Repairs whilst under Warranty ”

Repairs whilst under Warranty
Diesel ran out from neck filler hose to tank - fixed under warranty
Offside Engine Mount replaced - under warranty
Oil Leak, Engine steam Cleaned to identify - replaced Hose under warranty
Climate Control Stopped working, replaced.
Air con re filled after it stop working

Why is there Bubbling rust around my windscreen??
BMW - not covered under paint warranty

Tyres - cheapest on ebay £189 each after fitting works out a £200 a tyre
these are bridgestone, so approx £400 every 7k miles

Servicing -Not Great, they take it in every time a light appears, you dont just get a service you know oil, filter, pollen filter air filter, fluids,

what you get is an oil change, they then try to sell you another service to make your car as new as it left the show room, I would prefer to replace items as they are about to wear and not before,

"its best if you book in to have your front pads replacing" "why said I" "because they only have 4k miles on them" I said - "well I'll wait till they need replacing"

Car wouldnt start last week, need jump start from BMW Rescue Service - checked battery, which was fine want to take in to make further checks - cost approx £2400. -

SOLD got my £15k and walked""
cant take BMW any more! - been a sucker for too long!"!

I have got a BMW 320d on a 02 plate 60k miles and just spent '£450 on inlet manifold change as a preventive measure because if a swirlflap drops of in gets sucked through your turbo and goes straight into your engine and can scrap your engine even if you service regularly and with full service history from BMW.

Sorry to say this but I write it for those still considering whether to buy one of these. The parts for the inlet manifold conversion which are four blanking plates can be found on Ebay for around £20. Would take a seasoned DIY'er half a day to fit. There is also an oil vortex part to replace as well. I think that's around the same money-Not sure of the effort though. I'm afraid if that was all that was done for £450, someone was taking you for a ride.

“As a high mileage driver (my daily commute is 50 miles...”

★★★★★

written by slimon on 26/10/2005

As a high mileage driver (my daily commute is 50 miles each way) I needed a car that would be reliable, frugal, and quick.

My last car was a 320d SE saloon, and my major gripe with it was the boot space, I simply couldn't fit awkward shaped things into it.

The BMW 320d SE Touring solves this problem by having seats that fold flat, which gives you a large storage area.
The back seats are split 70/30 to allow you to just fold down one side, which gives you more options.
The SE gives you reversing beepers (a must), climate control, cruise control, and steering wheel controls for the hi-fi etc.
This in effect gives you all the options you need for free. Audi and Mercedes charge extra for these.
I can get 47mpg in everyday driving (550 on a tank) conditions, and it has the mid-range power to cope with A-road overtaking.

In conclusion:-
If you want a car with bullet proof build quality that has style, performance, space, hasn't got a drink problem, and that ticks all the options boxes.... Get a 320d SE.
The 330d is even better, but they are even rarer on the forecourts!!
