Reluctantly I had to trade in my 3 door RAV 4 nv petrol as it grew old; I chose the d4d xtr 4 model in its place. It had 40k miles on the clock when I bought it from my local Toyota dealership, and now 2 years later and 40k more miles on the clock I am looking for my next car. I have been absolutely delighted with my car - totally trouble free, reliable, and does everything I need of it. Servicing is mid priced, my local dealer is helpful. My next car will also be a Toyota Rav 4.

At the present I wouldn't change it unless for a newer model. GX D4D I looked for a long time at the varied 4x4s available, and this without doubt is the best of it's kind. Reliable without fault and so good on our long journeys across Europe. Fuel economy at 40+ makes the whole package the best.

Having owned the earlier Rav4 GX 3 door petrol version, it was a simple choice to upggrade to the 5 door when the time came. So good are these vehicles that we have decided to keep the 3 door as a family car as well. My early thoughts about the Toyota Rav 4 was that it was overpriced, especially as a second hand car, but since we purchased the first one, I would say there is no better value for money. Toyota Sales and Service Centres also beat their competitors into a cocked hat. You are always made to feel welcome, the cost of servicing is not astronomical, and you can feel reassured that if they say they have serviced the car and fitted parts, that's exactly what they have done. Rust warranty is also without question. on the earlier car we spotted the smallest of rust spots on the door pillar after 5 years. Toyota resprayed without question and even fixed the stone chips on the bonnet without charge. My last two company cars have been in the luxury range, and I can assure you that the after sales service from both of these two well known marques has been sadly lacking compared to Toyota. You may think this sounds a bit over the top in the praise arena, but after 5 years of Toyota as a private family car, we have never had a single problem. The cost of ownership has been the lowest of any car I have owned, and that is many, and the car (Sorry 4X4), should take all the awards from its bigger and more expensive rivals. DO yourself a big favour - try one - you won't regret it.

This SUV is brilliant never mind the X-trail or Honda crv this Toyota is the best if you were thinking of buying one don't hesitate. The NV version is no different to the top of the range one really. It might have Sat
tellite navigation a few things here and there but there are nothing between them in all honesty.

I find Ms Hollands comments on the RAV4 unreal. I have owned a VX model since November 2001 and it is a truly enjoyable car with 100% reliability, solid build and a good drivers car. This car has also been voted the most reliable car in Britain by hundred of users and won a few "Best SUV" categories in car magazines...can they all be wrong? Ms Holland is the first and will most probably remain the only person to slag this very good SUV!...Nuff said!

I bought a Toyota RAV4 2.0 VX auto in September 2001.
The car looks great, is almost silent and very comfortable to be in. Most desirable extras (air/leather/power everything/LSD/CD auto) are standard on VX. SatNav an expensive but brilliant extra. I really can't say anything bad about the RAV 4. Money well spent.

I agree the RAV4 D4D 5dr is very good, but the back door is to long and low so that it is almost impossible to open when a trailer is hooked on, and what is the point of having a 4x4 if not to pull a trailer. Also dogs or children are very hard to lock in the car without setting the alarm 02/02/06
