Since 2002, I have made it a point to travel to at least one place each year. Been to lots of places since then, been doing the usual routine of going to a particular place where it’s highly recommended for tourists to go, sample foods recommended for tourists to taste and stay at a hotel where the traveling agent recommended I stay.

But last year was entirely different. My trip to Greece with Peter Pappas was simply beyond my expectations.

Touring with Peter allowed me to experience actually living in Greece and changed the whole basis of being a tourist where tourists are supposed to be shown only the places reserved for tourists. With The Balance Tour, tourists get to visit Athens, Syros, Naxos and Santorini, four of the most magnificent places to visit in Greece where the old meets the new.

In Athens, you get to visit the world-renowned Acropolis, Monastiraki, Marina Zea and shop at Kolonaki.

The rest of the tour is an exhilarating visit to the islands of Syros, Naxos and Santorini, three of loveliest islands of Greece where you can soak in the sun, enjoy the beaches and indulge in some of the finest things that the locals have to offer.

What set Peter’s tour apart from all the other touring services out there is that with Peter, you don’t just visit places usually reserved only for tourists. The Balance Tour brings you to places where locals hang out where you get to experience what each place has to offer. You indulge in food that the locals enjoy and you have the opportunity to experience the local way of living as they unfold.

What’s also really exciting about Peter’s tour are the trainings which give tourists that much needed boost in energy to keep us going and to keep us fit while some of us pig out, if you will on local delicacies. Sometimes, we do two trainings each day of the tour. One first thing in the morning, and if our schedule permits, we try to throw in a couple of routines in the afternoon.

Everything about the tour with Peter is absolutely fantastic. There are lots of places to see whether one is in Athens, in Syros, in Naxos, or in Greece. There are simply lots of things to enjoy and behold, but very limited time to really enjoy them all.

Having said all that, I’m thinking about going back there next year.

Teal Travel in Patterson Lakes is by far the worst travel agent in Australia. She is crude, rude, totally incompetent, lazy and possibly insane. She ruined our holiday. Stay away. Since asked around and found 3 other people who had bad experiences. Especially when booking for a cruise.
