“Fully automatic water-softening design”

★★★★☆

written by FemiAcadia on 12/03/2021

It is currently the market leader in fully automatic water-softening design. Its advanced concept offers many important benefits over conventional softeners, such as giving you the most luxurious softened water, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This machine will be our third in 25 years. As we live in a very hard-water area and a water softeners is essential in maintaining a limescale free water system. Not only is our water softer but all appliances last so much longer without any limescale build-up. Refilling with salt blocks could not be any easier. We don't have to worry about the electrical supply as there is none with this machine unlike some others.

The service we've received has be excellent and I would recommend Minimax to anyone living in a hard water area. Our hotwater system has become more efficient as well as our central heating.

The last time our central heating was serviced and the radiators flushed we were told by the engineer we have a very clean system with no sludge what so ever. The water was just a bit dirty which is to be expected. All in all the Minimax is a great machine.

Communication throughout was very good. The person I dealt with and his plumber worked very hard during the day to fit and service system. The plumber was very good and his work was excellent. The person I dealt with finished the commission and you wouldn't know they had been there they retiled and left the area spotless. He  explained how to use the machine and load the minimax 3 and if we needed him just to call. We now have soft water throughout our home. We cannot fault these guys for their efforts and work standards. Thank you.

This piece of kit really makes a difference to the water in our home and is economical to run. The salt blocks seem to last for ages. You should get one fitted!

“leaks, leaking, leaks”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 21/05/2019

purchased above, fitted by a good guy but accidently found out many, many months later that it was leaking....ruining cupboards/floor. Fitter returned immediately & told me there was a manufacturing fault with some of the machines....he personally had been to refit 90 machines that he had installed. Said the manufacturer didn't know when the fault appeared but new machines were ok. At a minimum the manufacturer should have informed all purchasers to check for leaks.

“Hart Water Haverhill”

★★★★★

written by on 12/07/2018

We recently had a Minimax M2 Water Softener fitted by Hart Water. The service we received from them was very efficient and I recommend them. They attended quickly & gave a quote that detailed the work involved & gave a very reasonable price for the work. When they attended to install the water softener they completed the work efficiently & were very tidy.

“Replacement Water Softener”

★★★★★

written by Misaelj296 on 02/04/2018

The Minimax has replaced a ten year old electric machine with a single cylinder. The old machine had ceased softening the water. The new machine has served, not only as a replacement but provides a better quality of softened water.

Just had a Minimax 2 installed about 10 days ago....after moving to the Reading area from South Wales. Really struggled with the hard water and marking of sanitary ware and taps...and the difference it made with detergents etc. Probably one of the best items we've bought and make such a difference. Highly recommended...even though they are not cheap...

“Replacing our old one was a doddle!”

★★★★★

written by AngelicaStevens90 on 19/09/2016

We had our old water softener for 14 years, and when we asked our supplier for a new one, this is what we got, and it's brilliant. A non-electric item, it just does it's job without having to worry about power failures, all you do is pop in the salt blocks. I cannot understand why people in hard water areas do not invest in a water softener. In 14 years we have had no scale build up anywhere, we have never had to clean the shower head, and our central heating has never had to be drained down. Also, do you know how little shampoo, soap, washing powder etc you use? Hardly anything!! I cannot recommend this particular water softener enough. And the price this year is exactly the same as what we paid when we had the first one, 14 years go..... so what a bargain, too.

“Minimax M2 Water Softner”

★★★★★

written by Dinky7 on 17/05/2016

A good investment for any household. The water now tastes better with tea and coffee flavours greatly enhanced. We use less detergent for clothes washing and less soap, shampoo and shaving cream. More importantly, the water pipes and storage tank will be completely descaled over time. The unit itself, uses no electricity and operates silently. It fits under the kitchen sink without taking up much room. The only item needed are replacement salt blocks which last a few weeks at a time but these are very easy to replace and the benefits gained are worthwhile. I would recommend it and its made in Britain!

I bought this Water Softening system because the firm promoting it was local. The initial visit was punctual and all my questions were answered The fitting was done on time within two weeks and the work was completed in a shorter time than expected. I would be pleased to refer the firm to any of my friends.

“Excellent Water Softener”

written by patronpress on 21/01/2016

We needed a new water softener to replace a single cylinder electric water softener that was no longer working properly despite several service calls by the manufacturer. I did some research and was impressed by the twin cylinders and the accurate displacement water meter used on the Minimax M2. I found that Hart Water Ltd. located in Haverhill, Suffolk is an Authorised dealer and covered our area. I contacted them and they arranged to call. He called very promptly and confirmed that the Minimax M2 was perfect for our needs. The M2 has now been installed for around three weeks and we are delighted with our purchase. The water is softer than it ever was with our previous softener, the block salt is easy to handle and store, it needs no servicing and has a 10 year guarantee! We will recommend the Minimax M2 to family and friends.

Hi, my water softener is using too much salt and water is too soft. There doesn’t seem to be adjustment on the unit except for the advanced gear system high meter adjustment. The water level in the salt tray is approx 1/2 inch above the grate. Is there any way to reduce the softness of the water? Thank you

My M2 is about 10 years old; working perfectly till today it suddenly makes a lot of noise and draining water away. I turned off all the levers, the noise stopped and hope to turn it again in the morning to see what happens. Any ideas how to stop the noise? Many thanks

I'm about to order a water softener, but am unsure of the difference between the Minimax M2 and the TwinTec S3. Both seem to have great reviews, and I can't find a comparison anywhere. Does anyone know the difference, and what would be better in a small, 2 adult household?

Hi, I have the minimax 2 and when I researched the alternatives the Twin Tec seemed to be exactly the same spec so I suspect it is the same item just branded differently. My Minimax 2 is brilliant although I do get through on average 2 salt blocks every 3 weeks or so and there are only three adults in the house.

Thanks grimwau, that'll be why I can't find the difference between them. They're about the same price too as it happens, just different local suppliers. Not too bothered by the salt usage, as anything will be better than limescale!!

Make sure you installer runs a separate feed to your drinking water tap as although soft water tastes OK hard water is better to drink.

We use about 98 cu metres of water per year, how many litres would a Minimax 2 use for regeneration and how many salt blocks?

The simplest way to answer this question for the benefit of other readers is to say that you will use approx 3/4 of a block of salt per person per month, depending on water usage and local water hardness. This is what the average customer tends to find. With regard to water regeneration, again to keep it simple, the Minimax M2 is the most advanced block salt softener with just 17 litres of water used per regeneration.

The easiest and simplest way to do this is to just turn on a couple of taps until the softener kicks in to regeneration - The softener is designed to be easy to use without complicated controls to reset.
