“Extra charges for no reason!!”

The car had an incredibly cigarette smell, no one came to see the car, they told us they had no time and there wasnt another car. No one came to note the car damages either. When we returned the car we explained to them and everything was fine. After a few days, they charged our card for damages that did not exist !!! And two inclinations that we got to pay to the municipal police for parking.. 40 euros beacause of the inclinations. Thats unbelievable!! DO NOT RENT!!… Read Full Review

The worst experience EVER !!! I booked a FIAT PANDA. They asked me if I want extra insurance or just basic…and I went with basic. Afterward, they asked me if I wish an ulgrade to a better car, an Audi A3 for only 3 euro, for being their customer for the first time. I agreed, went to the parking lot and checked the car. Unfortunately I did not read these reviews before rented with this company. Our experience was almost identical to reviews described below. Obscure parking location which took us.45.min to find. Late fee of 1 additional day levied. To add.to this claim for damage that was pre existing and also a cleaning fee. Seems they work within the 500 euro credit card security so they can extract your money and there.is.little you can do about this… Read Full Review

“Destroyed my holidays”

I had a very bad experience after renting from this company. I rented a Scoda Octavia for 5 days to travel around Sicily. When I returned the car, I had broken a rear light and scratched the rear bumper. I thought the damage would not be considered too serious. “Horrid Experience”

Picked up the car in Malpensa (Milan) Airport. Everyone very friendly and accommodating. Car had per-existing damage. It was noted on a computerized diagram. Not to worry!! Returned the car to Catania, Sicily Airport before hours. Doesn't open until 8 am. Had a 7 am flight. Upon return to the USA, received an email claiming €495 damage plus a €70 fee. “Full of traps and charges”

Locauto at Pisa airport also to be avoided. They only care about adding charges. Pushing their forms for signing without asking whether you agree. You are under impression that you have to pay for road assistance etc, while you may have this already covered. You'll usually find at the end of the rental that there are extra fees to pay. “Avoid LOCAUTO Catania”

I had a really really bad experience at Catania Airport. We arrived at 6pm with a baby in hand. Well i recieved 2 days!! earlier that I need to have limit enough in my card for security deposit. But the lady at the desk is not in the mood at this time of the day. First she charged security 100eur for petrol plus 42eur for diesel upgrade, without telling me!! she silently charged from my card, no pins no signatures. It's ok we trust them. “Rip off company.”

Picked up car in Florence in a dark unlit car park and could not check over thoroughly. When I returned it a week later they suddenly found a small scuff on one of the alloys which I knew was not down to me and was probably old damage. I returned the car well before it was due and flew back home (from Turin to London). They charged me for an extra day (126 euros) claiming that I did not return it on time. I e-mailed them back asking them to check with their staff and showing that I had a flight back at 10 a.m. They did not get back to my e-mail. I'm still in communication with the company that I booked with (Rentalcars) and they're trying to get my money back but Locauto keep coming up with new requests. Despues de tener la reserva hecha al llegar a la oficina de Florencia solo había una persona atendiendo al público y aunque teniemos la reserva ya pagada tuvimos que esperar nuestro turno y hacer la misma cola que las personas que no tenian reserva. Fue un retraso en la entrega del coche en más de una hora. El coche no tenia GPS y los GPS portátiles se les habian acabado, así que nos fuimos sin GPS. Well My flight was delayed like 2 hours and 50 minutes. I called them to inform I was coming later to pick up my car and the lady straight away said they close at 23pm so I had to pay for each hour I was late; I was there at 00:10 and they charged me 84€ extra saying that the flight company will repay these money back which is not happening. We were supposed to take the car from ciampino airport - Rome. Booked in for pick up at 12.30pm. Deposit was paid for the car with rentacar.com. Waited an hour to pick up the car at Termini. Car was ok but on return to Fiumicino I was told one of the tyres didn't match the others - I would never have though to check this when I picked the car up. I showed them that the puncture kit hadn't been used and the odd tyre was of a make more expensive than the others. “Unfair customer service”

We rented a car for one day to do a day trip from Verona to Parma. We rented a GPS with the car but it didn't work and on the way back to the car rental depot we got lost without the navigation guidance we had paid for. This meant a wrong turn into a bus lane and a traffic fine that turned up three months later. “Dishonesty at its best”

Never use this company!!! I collected my car in Milan. We did the condition report and I noticed a mark on the hub cap. I told the poor excuse of a man who took advantage of my niavity , pulled out his measuring card and stated the mark was under 5cm.
