Mazda 6 Ts

Bought a Mazda 6 from MFD in December 2012 ( just found this review centre)

Viewed the car on a saturday took it for a test drive no noise knocks or problems agreed a p/x and price on the purchase of car dealer agreed to have car serviced and wheels refurbished and collection the following Friday with 6 months warranty and a full check before the car left them.

Went to collect the car and as agreed wheels had been done and car had just been serviced 'apparently' filled out the paperwork and left the garage happy started the car and that's where the problems started there was ahad stuff thewhining noise from the engine which followed any throttle input immediately went back in and spoke to employees who both agreed it wasn't right they contacted the owner who agreed to have it looked at on the saturday The day manager said to me that the owner would "probaly just give me my a car to use" as he knew I had to travel to get it back through and had things to do Saturday.

Spoke to owner friday who had a very different attitude now to ask about arrangments for leaving the car with them and he said you will just have to leave it and make your own way no offer of even a lift to the train station I asked him about the warranty and the costs for any repair and he said we will have to see what it is 1st I tried to explain that the car hadnt even left the garage and had supposedly just been checked over so how could it not have been noticed? Answer I dont know, agreed to meet saturday morning. Travelled back through Saturday morning no sign of owner was kept waiting for an hour then he took the car to a garage around the corner had sound had been coming from driver side of engine and originally thought it was the alternator however after garage had taken the belt of the noise remained. Told it was not serious and he would book it in to the garage he uses for his cars for the end of the week as there wasn't any space earlier.

Left the garage and on the way home phoned the garage he uses to see where I had to drop the car off and was told they could take it in earlier there was space contacted the garage owner who ranted down the phone at me and refused to allow me to take it in earlier. He then phoned back and said he would now change it and I asked him again about cost and warranty and he said that he didn't now know if it would be covered. He began to argue wih me when I asked him about this and then got very aggressive so I ended the call. He then called back and said just bring the car in on the Wednesday.

I would like to note at this point that the owner is very pleasant and accomadating in person however on the end of a phone he is extremely rude abrupt and condescending a theme that continued throughout my dealings with him.

Having got home and had some time to think about what had went on I decided mostly because of the way I was treated that I would prefer to just return the car and get my old one back I did not want to deal with this man anymore I thought if its been this much agro to start with then whats happens if anything else goes wrong. Spoke to him again and he refused then he called me back and said bring it through Monday and I'll give you your money back and you can have your old car back. Asked about v5 and he said he wasnt sure he would get back to me. Phoned him again and he told me he wasn't going to do it now as you can imagine it was getting a bit old a bit quick he then threatened to TAKE the car back (and refund the difference) which I owned I called the police and went in and gave a statment they said he couldn't do this as the car belongs to me and to contact them if anyone came for it. After several phone calls more abuse and also calls to trading standards to see where I stand on everything I was thej told he would NOT pay for any repairs and was told to send a letter to his lawyer and take him to small claims court he actually brought up a case in which a large car dealer had won and said good luck it will take you 6 months atleast and all I will have to do is give you your money back.

I would not recommend MFD and I ended up giving up as I was gettin no where ,got the car repaired myself turned out to be the fuel pump which was £480 plus labour so an expensive mistake.

Feel your pain there. I had dealings with this guy a few years ago. He totally mis described a car that I travelled 30 miles to view. He was very pleasant and plausible until I decided to walk away having viewed the car only to then be subjected to a tirade of snide remarks, all in front of my two young kids. The guy is clearly unbalanced and has anger management issues. An outfit that's to be avoided at all costs.

We bought a car from MFD that supposedly had a full service history and recent timing belt change. He didn't give me the history when we picked the car up and I'm still waiting 9 months later... He swore blind he had it and would post it out and he was a man of his word etc etc but in reality he's a liar and obviously advertises his vehicles falsely. I have read in various places he is now trading under another name but still in the same building and if that's the case steer well clear as the man is not fit to trade.

Contact the judge at the Sunday mail... We did the more that do the more likely she will do something.... This half Witt needs to be stopped...,

I can't believe people like this are allowed to trade in anything. Yes, the charming persona has displayed itself in full force. Maybe we should all tell rouge traders our stories see what they do? Well, lesson learned, trading standards have been contacted...x

Disappointing! Not Really A Man Of His Word!

Bought a Volvo back in Sept, after we got it home (Aberdeenshire) the water kept needing re filled after this had happened a few times we contacted MFD Car sales & spoke with [name removed] also e mailed a he also owed us a spare key which he said he would source initially he was polite and told us to take it to a garage & they would pick up the bill once we had found out it was the radiator that needed replacing, anyway we had the car in at a local garage when he phoned to say stop the work being done as it was to expensive and he could get it done cheaper, as we dont live around the corner from MFD, our option was to take it to a local garge and as he had already agreed this and the work was part done we ended up over £150 out of pocket after lots of stressful phone calls with [name removed] & him not posting the promised now only PART payment cheque when he said he had/would (just before xmas with a young family this is obviously a worry when you are not made of money!!!)We did eventually recieve it after being messed about and lots of worry and stress for myself, however we have never received the PROMISED key i did send a letter after taking legal advice just to receive a phone call from [name removed] telling me "You wont receive a key as we are ceasing trading from end Jan 13"...so thats another £274 we have to find, i do still have the e mails & yes He has had a peace of our mind, but he just argues that he is a good man that sold us a good car, I am sure the car will now be a good car that we have had work done on it but if we would have known that we would have to add another £425 to the price (that we couldnt afford to do) then we wouldnt have bought the car in the 1st place!!! I have read some positive & some very negative feedback below & [name removed] you state that you provide a good life for your family to the school teacher that you are also in dispute with well as a family man i say shame on you, you should understand that life is hard enough with young children than to agree to pay for somthing that you had no intentions of doing!! Yes i am dissapointed, i live by the rule TREAT OTHERS AS YOU LIKE TO BE TREATED YOURSELF!!, & please no need for any rude replies from you below nor any phone calls you have caused me enough stress!!Thankyou

FYI - MFD Car Sales has transferred operations to a new outfit called DVS Scotland. All the stock previously held by MFD just before it cleared out its website is now listed on the DVS Scotland site, and it trades from the same industrial estate. Almost certainly a different legal entity though, but Companies House is listing the same directors for both of them. Can't help thinking that 'D-V-S' is an ironically appropriate name!

just bought a vecta sri from MFD, very happy with it but when i first paid for the car i had only took it to get petrol i noticed a bad repair had been carried out and there was a sticker hiding this!!! got martin on the phone and he told me that as it was a trade in they didnt do much to it other that wash it, he told me to bring it back to have a look at it and he said not to worry he would sort it out, just left the car with him - he even gave me a lift home and two days later i got the car back as good as new - really cant get better than that! as really i should have noticed before i bought it and was worried that they wouldnt be interested once they get your money but martin was easy to deal with and i would buy a car from them again.

Vauxhall Astra Club Cdti 2004

Having not bought a car since our last in 2004 i was a bit out of touch, having just under £3000 to spend we started to look and to begin with we nearly gave up, now i know that £3000 isnt a lot of money for a car but nearly every garage we went to had rude staff dirty premises or even dirtier cars cars presented for sale with faults.I then last weekend came across MFD its ironic as ive driving past there for a while now i deliver to yodel who have a yard near them but as im night shift i hadnt noticed their place as most of the cars are inside ,i had swapped shifts with a another driver during the day so it was by chance really,We looked at a 04 astra diesel car was presented lovely as were all of the cars in the showroom we were given the keys and left to look over the car the person we dealt with (Martin) was dealing with someone else but what i liked was were left totally to our own devices even when he had finished with the other customer ,we asked a couple of questions were shown the service history, were told the car would come with a fresh mot and we went off to think about it we looked at one more car but like so many others it was a let down so an hour or so later we went back and left the deposit and picked the car up on 17/5/12 as i said what i liked was no badgering and they clearly work hard to present a nice car what i would say is that having looked at so many cars and garages this is a hard price to try and buy something decent if this garage present them as ours was and deal with people how we were dealt with then then they should have no problems

Travelled from ireland to buy this car.i had bought from mfd once before so i decided to try them again and im sorry i did. It looked ok on internet so i rang him and paid a deposit£100 after he told me the car was sound and there was nothing to report.as i was only able to judge by photos i noticed the cigarette lighter flap was broken so i requested it be fixed and could he add 1 more pic of the dash. He emailed back saying he'd fix the lighter but refused to add the pic! I also asked for a discount as it was my second buy, this was also refused. I should have walked away then only i paid the deposit.i was told id be collected when i land in glasgow only to be told at the airport i have to get a cab for £30 when i got to the car there was a huge burn on the seat(explains why he wouldnt upload pic) and the spanner light was on, it went off after test drive so i didnt think anymore of it.the cigarette lighter he said would be fixed also wasnt done!!! He gave me £20 discount in total even though it was my second buy.only for i had a ferry paid for and return flights were very expensive i wouldnt have bought it. The next day the car packed up with injector trouble so i rang him to let him know i was having trouble with the car, he basically told me it was a common fault with these cars and practicly hung up! Turned out injector 3 had to be replaced and the spanner light turned out to be the glow plugs needed replacing. The lot cost me £425 to get sorted and i was advised to get rid which i did. Martin is an absolute pig to deal with except when he's counting your money, he certinaly wont be counting anymore of mine! STAY CLEAR!!!

SO GLAD THIS BUSINESS WENT TO THE WALL. WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME FOR THESE PEOPLE GIVING SMALL DEALERSHIPS A BAD NAME

reply by mfd ,,Whats funny hear is that its your decision to come here and buy the car so the ferry and the flights excuse if afraid does not wash with me that doesnt make the car cheaper ,the reason you travelled is firstly you had dealt with us before and second was the price because i can bet that if there was one near you similar priced you would have went there, when you came to view it nobody put your arm up your back and made you buy it,that was your choice ,yes you did call to say there was a fault what we did say was that the plug had probably came loose on injector 3(common fault) which will cause it to run rough this was the one and only time you called you never called back to say that this was going to cost £425 if you had we would have gladly helped out towards the bill as our invoice states with regards to the warranty at least the parts would have been covered, and we never gave you £20 discount we gave you back £20 towards fuel and it was you who asked for that, and when you called we never hung up we advised you to what the problem was likely to be it was up to you to come back which we would have been open too.And i think the word pig is a bit strong if i was that bad why come back and if you were that upset why no call,? Paul the last time you bought a car you wanted the world discounts etc and you got a decent deal im sorry that you had trouble with this car but different cars ,deals etc sometimes there is no give with regards to what we can give you why dont you post a copy of the invoice on here or send me a copy of your bill and we will contribute towards it ,PS Paul on the invoice there is a section on there with regards to warranty work and doing it before we are informed its there clear for you too see so if we were not open to sorting warranty claims why would we have it in our t&c s

The momentum 5 star 6 month warranty doesn't cover you for hee-haw, it's a get out clause for MFD car's so you don't have a come back! He simply hit's you with the sales patter that it saves you time and money having to take it back to them, it's easier for you to go to a local garage and so hit's you with the magic words on your paper work...Sold with no warranty, which you think yeah okay as it sound's good as he sell's this warranty which cover's you for virtually nothing(but he say's it cover's nearly everything, you also have to pay the cost's upfront to the repairer and try and claim back the money from the famous 6 month warranty dealer's, if you have to find out the hard way or you don't believe me, call any repairer and say you have a warranty from Momentum how doe's it work to get the car repaired and then weep!. Beware of dodgy review's!
