They will ruin your credit, I used them to buy a car which i could no longer afford due to losing my job on their advise i returned the car back to them to be sold and i agreed to pay back the outstanding debt on a manageable payment plan. i have been paying this consistently for 3 years only to find that they have put a default notice on my credit file for non payment for the last 3 years which has completely ruined my credit.. to the point i cannot even find somewhere to live. Bought a car through Moneybarn HP finance. Loan APR was very high but I knew that, and looked to get it down. Bank offered me a loan with far less interest so part paid Moneybarn and then looked to pay off rest when I could. I'm sorry about the level of service you've experienced. We can normally provide an Early Settlement Figure over the phone straight away or turn around a request for an ESF made by email within a couple of days at the most. However, we have been experiencing high call and email volumes recently so our service levels have been impacted. We're working hard to repair the situation so we can turn requests around more quickly.

If you still need your figure, I recommend you call us in the first instance. You can reach our Customer Services Team between the hours of 8am-8pm Monday-Thursday, 8am-6pm Friday or 9am-12.30pm on Saturday. Or you can email us and request a call back at a date and time that suits you (within the hours detailed above).

I thought the easy bit when I came to think about changing cars would be obtaining the settlement figure on my current loan .. how wrong I am. Despite my first email on 30th Sept and a letter on 4th Oct and more emails over the last few days I have still to hear anything from them. As a sub prime lender they prey on vulnerable people. Whilst I understand that they are a business they surely must understand that people who come to them may have problems with monthly payments in the future. I just can’t believe all these comments. I’m with them 12 grand loan pay £400 a month for 60 months high coz bad credit but any time I had a problem with a payment I rang first and asked to pay less just add the extra over a few months which they do never get told I’m losing the car or need to pay the full amount said if I missed a payment without telling them first it would be 3 months before anyone comes for the car Iv one year left

Would give zero stars if possible! Been trying to settle my finance with Moneybarn for nearly 2 months but they are absolutely useless at communicating with me and the settlement figure they give you is wrong by the way folks! Money advice service and the FLA state the settlement figure should be the amount owed (minus interest) and depending on how long is left on the agreement 1% of the total amount owed. They want to take our car back. Appled to court to do this. The letter for cpurt date they gave us was different to actual date so we didnt turn up. They sent someone round for car but we werent in. Have emailed them saying my parents will pay car off in full plus court costs. They are refusing want the car. They will sell at auction and we still have to pay but no car to show for it. We hit financial diffuculties through no fault of our own.
We had paid for 2 yrs on time
If we lose car i will have to give up my job so they wont get any money. Be better to take my inlaws offer. Think they like playing god with peoples lives

There is no customer service at Moneybarn, They lie and cover up their true names/identities so if you have any problems good luck trying to deal with a Human. They enter false recurring data onto your credit files, if you miss a payment but then bring your account up to date, every month your credit file will show a negative/late payment because of the late payment fee which they do not take out by direct debit, and do not explain this to you....
