“Very cool console 3D”

★★★★★

written by mikeskk025 on 11/03/2015

I am a big gamer and usually buy consoles that I use for TV. My friend dared me that I could not handle the small consoles. I wanted to prove him wrong so I went to buy the latest one and thought it would be cool the 3D's. I tried obviously the best games. I was actually shocked that I enjoyed playing on such a smalls screen. Definitely worth it.

“Far superior to the DSi”

★★★★☆

written by Maiau on 15/02/2014

I bought the 3DS XL for my birthday to play the new pokemon games and i'm quite impressed with it. The screen is much, much larger than the normal 3DS though it has all the same features. I'm not too keen on the actual 3D aspect (though it has a switch and can be turned on and off)because it hurts my eyes, but i appreciate the improved graphics quality. The machine comes with a few inbuilt features: camera, sound, internet, nintendo eshop and a few games like augmented reality and face raiders. They're quite fun to pass the time. All in all, it's a great console, especially for kids.

“3D tastic”

★★★★☆

written by headjess on 02/08/2012

The 3DS is just superb; there is no better machine for use in the toilet. I got mine off the Mrs for Christmas and it came with a dead pixel so I returned it and got another with a dead pixel so I returned it and got a 3DS with no machine in the box so I returned it and finally got a decent one. Still gets 5 stars. I loved the DS and this is finally a decent upgrade, graphics are brilliant on Mario and Zelda and the controls work very well. The only thing that lets it down is the 3D, it's a stupid gimmick and really adds very little to any of the games. I would have preferred it if they'd made the graphics even better rather then add 3D.

“Very good value for money”

★★★★★

written by joe15 on 31/01/2012

Excellent product and great pricing. What I liked about this product was its great sound quality, large screen, easy joy stick option for movement and the option to turn 3D off. Really loved the thought process behind the product. However one thing that I didn’t like about Nintedo was that its 3D only works in optimal conditions. But other than that it is very good value for money.

“AWESOME!! But SOME downfalls!!”

★★★★★

written by Rixtar on 20/01/2012

I purchased this product on the 14th January , i got the white one with super mario 3d land. Now onto the review : With it closed it looks nice , not much too say about presentation its just average but its ok. The camera is quite good , its not really good , but its ok. i like how you can also record videos which you couldnt do on a dsi. The sound studio is exactly the same as the dsi one , which i was dissapointed about :-( I really like having mii's on this , just like the wii. its awesome. i also really love streetpass!! On the 3ds you can have friends , everyone has a friend code and u need to add them and they need to add you , its good fun! So , that is some stuff on it but there are some bad things: the stylus is in the back so it hard to get too while your playing so what i do is i put it on the surface closest to me :P the 3d does also cause headaches for SOME people , i do not get headaches and thats suprising because im a MAJOR headache sufferer!! overall i thinks its awesome and i would recommend it!! if your updating from a ds lite you NEED this!! if your updating from a dsi it would be good to get a 3ds , but it your choice!! :D

“Nintendo 3DS”

★★★★★

written by MCSKITTLE19 on 17/01/2012

Well the only negative for me was the battery life because I love this gaming expierence. You get 3D without glasses and my eyes feel even more improved by this. The games are awesome super street fighter 4 on the go and it is better than the 360 and PS3 versions. This system has online and netflix what a portable beast. Star fox in 3D and resident Evil you need this gamers. With kid Icarus, Fire Emblem and Monster hunter 4 is gonna be awesome and than nintendo confirms super smash. This is the best portable device and I cannot wait to see pokemon. Mario Kart 7 is amazing and if you don't believe me play me in bomb omb deathmatch online. Also the E shop has many classics I want to buy and Spotpass is great I get to write letters and send it to my friends than play against them. Supee Mario Land 3D is portable heaven. Why are you reading this review play the 3Ds and do not miss out.

“Nintendo 3DS”

★★★★★

written by chaperz117 on 31/12/2011

Yep, If you are a fan of all Nintendo products, or if you have bought other Nintendo product (e.g. WII,DS,GAMECUBE,DS LITE) then you will know that Nintendo never let you down. The Boxing is neat and tidy, inside the box its self the 3DS System is well protected from any rough riding. The contents of the box includes: Nintendo 3DS System - x1 Nintendo 3DS Charging Cradle - x1 Nintendo Charging Adapter - x1 Nintendo 3DS Packet of AR cards - x1 Nintendo 3DS Instruction Manual - x1 Club Nintendo Star Reward Card - x1 Before I purchased my Nintendo 3DS Console or Before I purchase and Console I always like to know whats in the box. So as I said before, if you are a fan of any Nintendo product then this is for you and correct me if im wrong, but this is a must have for you.

“Nintendo has churned out yet another rubbish gaming...”

written by drinmurf on 04/09/2011

Not even proper 3D. Grpahics are shameful, disappointing and boring. Do not bother. Get a PSP! Graphics are amazing and there's a wider range of games. Sony all the way!

“Having never had much to do with Nintendo, but being...”

★★★☆☆

written by mark lucas on 30/03/2011

Having never had much to do with Nintendo, but being an avid gadget freak, I thought I'd pick one of these up. I'm hardly new to 3d having used stereoscopic drivers and anaglyph glasses before with various PC games. So I was hardly expecting anything miraculous. But I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised by this hand-held console. The Build quality of the 3DS is superb. I went for the aqua blue version available in Europe. It doesn't look anything like it's depicted on most ads though, In fact the unit is metallic on the outside with a thick layer gloss lacquer on the housing. This makes it look especially good quality. Unlike the PSP lite handheld series, it doesn't creak or make cracking noises as you handle it or press buttons. A really nice sturdy piece of kit with some reassuring weight to it. The 3D effect, for the most part, is an aquarium illusion, giving depth to images on screen. Things are hardly popping out, but they still look very impressive and have dimension. There isn't any of the usual blurry ghosting you get using red / cyan glasses . It's a really crystal clear image. The battery time is excellent giving me 5 hours use after just one first initial charge. To give unfamiliar readers an idea of how good that is, my psp lasts 2 hours (if I'm lucky). The touch screen is incredibly accurate and very sensitive. Also the new analog stick on these is a nice addition. Having typed that, I dont think it's as responsive or has the same range as the PSP's. That leads me to my main criticisms of the 3DS which are such: I understand that Nintendo have always directed their consoles at a mainstream family market - but I find the browser and menu options juvenile. Theyre well designed and set out, but a little too basic and condescending for my personal taste. The on-board software which comes on the unit is basically fluff. There's a sound recorder and editor, A couple of onboard games which utilise the stereoscopic cameras - these are two things I probably wont use. Disappointingly the camera quality is not very good indoors either. I would say that most mobile phones currently on the market take better pictures. The images are off colour and heavily pixelated. It seems a bit silly having the stereoscopic feature without decent quality hardware to back it up. With cameras on just about everything now these days, this is a feature I won't be using to take photos. Hopefully the cameras will be utilised more for gameplay. The other thing I don't understand is the incorporation of gyroscopic motion control. I can't understand how this will work with 3d titles - the 3DS needs to be held very securely and still, or the user loses the 3D effect. My final criticism is directed, not at the console itself, but the European launch titles. Some of these games are absolutely yonks old. They are just adaptations that most people could pick up on ebay for nothing, then play using 3d glasses on PC. Puplishers are charging £40 for some of these! I hope that developers are going to embrace the consoles capabilities and actually design proper 3d games. The 3 current titles I have tired do look good, but some of the rendered 3d models look like paper cut outs. Features which appeared 3d on ordinary games (such as shaded stairwells or boxes) sometimes appear flat because of the 3d effect. Otherwise, this portable handheld does what it says on the tin. It plays videogames competently with improved graphics, on the move. I'm glad I bought it and I'll be hoping for an improved software catalogue compared to the NDS and DSI's history of weird Japanese detective games, virtual pets or brain teasers. I would say this is an essential gamer but if you already a PSP Go, try before you buy.
