“On the day I went into the showroom the salesman I...”

written by customerabuse on 26/02/2011

On the day I went into the showroom the salesman I encountered was very pleasant and polite. I took the car I was interested in out on a test drive. The inside of the car was neutral at that stage. I stupidly put down a deposit as I liked the car. There were some scratches on the body work but I was told that this would be sorted out. I had to leave the car with them for everything to be sorted. When the car was ready for collection I went and picked it up as I drove the car down the road the top of the gear changer fell off, I then had to go back and have it replaced. At that stage there was this underlying smell in the car. I didn't take much notice as I thought it would dissipate as time went on. And also the fact the car was neutral when we went out on the test drive.

After driving the car for a couple of days I started to feel unwell. I didn't at first put this down to the car. It was only the fact that I didn't need to drive the car for a few days I realised that something was wrong. I then decided to leave the car until I started to feel better. When I felt recovered I went back to the car and had a drive I again started to feel unwell. I then decided to contact Dee's of Wimbledon I wrote to them on 4th of December 2009 asking for my money back and letting them know there was something circulating inside of the car making me feel unwell. I was getting a heavy taste on the front of my tongue and a headache. I then would feel tired. I had bought the car on 06/11/2009. They said they would have a look at the car. They said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I refused to take the car back and asked for my money back. They posted the keys through the door and parked the car under a tree. I would never park my car there, I always park away from the trees.

I phoned them to let them know that the smell was still in the car and that I could not drive the car. I told them the car had been parked under a tree. They have tried to say that that was my normal parking place. The car got covered in bird poo and when I went to remove it I found the paint had been damaged. I contacted my insurance company but they don't cover this sort of happening. I now have a car I cannot drive, and am taxing and insuring it wasting my money. I have written many times to Dee's asking for my money back. An AA report has been done on the car and the report confirms that there are problems with the car that can prove costly to rectify.

The bird poo has caused blisters, and would benefit from repair/removal, which would enhance the cosmetic appearance of the vehicle whilst preventing deterioration. The exhaust has been identified as having limited life because, although there is no leakage present, there is some external corrosion present and the inside of the system, which may have significant deterioration, cannot be inspected internally.

The essential Repairs:-

Clutch fluid and brake fluid needs changing.

Radio needs coding.

Wiper blades worn front and rear.

Seat upholstery needs valeting.

Carpets and Mats has ingrained dirt which is causing the vehicle to have a bad smell that gives a nauseous feeling, they either need a thorough valet, or renewal.

Fluid/oil leaks at the gear selector input shaft.

Discs and pads are worn front.

Front RH tyre sidewall has cracks.

Bonnet lacquer is peeling and very heavily blistered.

Luggage area trim condition carpet in the boot is very dirty and needs to be taken out and replaced

-----------------------

Paint damage:

Nearside front bumper corner lacquer peeling.

Nearside front door repaired paint dull.

Nearside rear wing repaired paint dull.

Nearside front wing lacquer peeling.

Offside front wing lacquer peeling.

Offside front door repaired paint dull.

Offside rear wing scratches.

The report recommends that the repairs be rectified before purchase as they will be costly and the cost needs to be looked at in comparison to the price of purchase.

I was sent a letter on Swindon Motor Park letter headed paper saying that he will rectify without paint work the other defects for £486 but with paint work it will be another £1,500. A total of £1,986. I have already paid £5,000 for this car. I will not be paying for these things and will be taking this matter to court if necessary.

I wanted to use my car to go and see my family and friends and also for shopping.

I have looked at the Swindon Motor Park reviewers and there are lots of similarities between my situation and the other reviewers at Swindon in that the company put up a good front to get you hooked and then reeled you into trouble.

I was told to contact Swindon Motor Park to sort out this matter as Dee's of Wimbledon and Dee's of Croydon and Swindon Motor Park all come under the umbrella of Cumbria Automobiles Plc. But to get any matter sorted out with your car you will be directed to Swindon Motor Park. They are the biggest crooks. There are warnings on the Swindon Motor Park review site. BE WARNED
