Radiohead, The King of Limbs

Firstly, I'm an avid Radiohead fan. I'm not someone who finds their music dreary or depressing - I've found every album they've ever released a joy to listen to, and even though invariably each album is a significant departure from its predecessor, I've never been disappointed by Radiohead's output.

This may be about to change though. On Friday I downloaded Radiohead's newest album The King of Limbs. The digital download costs £6 or £9 (for MP3 or WAV respectively) - I went for the £6 MP3 version, which on the face of it seemed like a bargain. However, there are only 8 tracks on the new album.

I feel that the album is a real change from Kid A. There's very little guitar throughout the album. Instead it consists of electronic drum tracks, and Thom York's voice floating gently over the top of these beats. I've listened to the album maybe 30 times since Friday, and I just can't it into it - it doesn't feel like there are any standout tracks, although given time, I may be proved wrong.

So, at the moment, I'm a little disappointed. I read reviews of the album in the papers over the weekend, and they consistently gave it a high rating. I watched what people were saying over the weekend on both Facebook and Twitter, and people seemed to love it. Perhaps I'm missing something, but at the moment it's just not doing anything for me.
