LG Optimus Black

The old saying goes ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’, but with the LG Optimus Black, getting the first glimpse of it in its black luxurious packaging already sets you up to say ‘wow’. More importantly, this Android phone holds your attention as you open the box.

The LG Optimus Black lives up to its name as it is encased in a black sheet of glass at the front and black plastic at the sides and back. The 4”-screen occupies the most part of the visage. Fitted with the revolutionary Nova technology for a unique blend of brightness and deep blacks for clearer view and easier readability even when used outdoors, the LG Optimus Black looks pretty stylish and classy according to many Engadget reviewers. What is surprising is how despite the huge screen, it feels small and compact, thanks to its slim lines (9.22 mm) and very light weight at only 3.8 ounces.

Staying connected proves to be a breeze with LG Optimus’ Wi-Fi Direct and 3G capabilities. Some users with discriminating tastes shared on Phone Arena how sluggish the connection could be at times but the majority feels fairly satisfied with it.

Camera-wise, Optimus Black’s 5-megapixel camera delivered beautiful details in the pictures while videos captured at 720p were equally lovely. Using the provided ear buds for those all-important calls and music playback produced clear and crisp sounds unlike other slim-bodied handsets that give off tinny audio without any bass at all. With LG Optimus Black’s sound system, you can comfortably listen to your favourite music or talk on the phone without in much vibrant clarity.

What is most appealing is how the LG Optimus Black’s battery is able to withstand excessive usage of energy without prematurely draining battery life. Even while using the phone in calls, Wi-Fi connectivity, music playback and the widescreen resolution cranked up at its brightest, this pretty smartphone stood its ground and performed beautifully without having to recharge for a day, and that is pretty impressive.
