Astonishing Value

The missus has a painful muscle condition called fibromyalgia and our old Ikea springs and pads werent helping. She said the most comfortable mattresses were the latex hospital mattresses, flat and comfortable. After deciding that natural latex was the way to go I started looking for something less than the typical £1000, and found Yanis. £300 for a single natural latex mattress (we have always prefered a pair of singles, saves the other person moving giving you seasickness!) and a high tech washable cover - is this price for real? I like the washable cover idea, after all if this mattress can as they say last a lifetime, then a layer you can take off and wash would be a definite advantage over a sown on topper. Reviews on here look positive so I placed an order, despite being between Christmas and new year, got someone on the phone, excellent communication, confirmed it would come out straight after New Year, placed an order on the web. Then got a phone call to deliver early the first working day. Excellent service.

Comes in a clear wrapper and weighs a tonne as it should, opened the zip on cover and had a little shock because its sort of the natural yellow latex colour with grey/black mixed in. Had a bit of a panic cos I thought natural latex mattresses were that pale yellow colour, like the piccy on the website, so phoned Yanis all ready to have a big complain. I was relieved to find out that the reason the mattress is blackish, is that it has a graphite fire retardent mixed in. A bit of checking on the web confirms that graphite fire retardants are being added to foams, although there it little comment about its impact on natural latex. Does it diminish the natural sterilisation of the latex? Maybe no-one knows yet, anyhow if thats the fire regs then fair enough, cant complain about someone stopping the mattress from going on fire. The polyester cover with the fancy breathable fibres is much thicker than I expected, nice weave and surface finish, perfect fit, and with a substantial feeling zip.

Wife sleeps on the new matress and is immediately a very happy girl! Its flat, comfortable, giving but supportive, and really resists any shake from nearby partner being transmitted, because of its solidity. Since the cover is polyester and of course a natural layer may be better, we also bought a Naturewarm wool mattress topper from the British Wool Marketing Board (£130 but bought in king size so it can be folded double thickness). Not organic, but on the other hand its a washable fitted mattress topper with three kilos of British! wool in. How much stuff is British sourced these days? The topper arrived several days after mattress so I can confirm that the mattress is nice on its own with the slight padding from its Polyester cover, but for maximum snuggliness the wool topper is a definite plus.

The combination is quite amazing. Since the missus gets up at 5am I can move for a few hours from old Ikea to new Yanis/Naturewarm. Its noticeable that I toss and turn on my side, but after I move I will go straight to sleep for another 3 hours without waking up at all. The mattress feels too firm at first, and like it will be too hot, but after a few minutes it fades into a feeling that your body is being supported with warm comfy snuggle. The warmth is just right to relax the aches without overheating. Hopefully the comments in reviews that wool does also stay cool in summer, will prove to be true.

Durability? The mattress will have a harsh life since missus gets in and out several times a night over the end which was where the Ikea springs had given up the unequal struggle. Having been in use a month now, I took the cover off, and the mattress is still perfectly flat and even, like the surface of a pond.

For a £300 mattress it is quite remarkable value, and service was excellent. Why spend any more unless you want sown in wool finish? I am saving up for my one!

I Bought This Latex Mattress Online So Was Taking

I bought this latex mattress online so was taking a risk not trying it out in the showroom. However I did a lot of background reading on latex mattresses and felt confident to order. The company's website is helpful and the man I spoke to on the phone for advice similarly so. The mattress arrived quickly and the delivery was free too.

The mattress and latex pillows are extremely comfortable and have already started to ease my lower back pain although I don't think this will happen overnight. Both myself and my husband can report better quality sleep too. No overheating to report either, unlike memory foam - apparently.

Overall I'm very pleased with the mattress which was also very competitively priced. I would definitely recommend a latex mattress from Yanis.

Singlemattress

I would like to recommend single mattress Single mattresses are more beneficial for children and take up very little room. There are two favourable sizes for the single bed either 2ft 6 or 3ft. The 2ft 6 is more for an adjustable bed and is aptly named a small single. It is also sometimes used with some children's cabin beds. The 3ft is much more common and is classed as a standard size single. This single mattress is therefore ideal for use as children's beds.
