“DO NOT TOUCH WITH A BARGE POLE!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by O'Learydw155 on 15/06/2016

First claim in 10 years! Attempted break-in (3 men), Police on scene who provided report, completely smashed double glazed window & damaged frame & front door with crow bar but never got in. Damage was major though. Allianz asked for 1 quote but had no intention of using it! They lied to us all the way through the process. Waited 3 weeks for them to send an "assessor" to "verify attempted break in and damage to OK the claim"! The "Assessor" was a small window company in Wales who were not FENSA registered and who told us they always did the "insurance jobs" for Allianz and they had been instructed to supply a replace and "repair only" quote! They said they were not "assessors" and themselves confused! They said the damage was such that they would recommend to Allianz the window and door should be replaced as they could not guarantee security of the repair, but Allianz always decided on the repair only quote as it was cheaper! This company said the damage to the hinges on the door which had been crowbarred could be "smacked flat with a hammer"!!! Complete mickey mouse bodgers! As the house was not safe, the company who originally fitted our double glazing kindly boarded up the window with secure glass for peace of mind that my daughter and I were safe in the house - they did this FOR FREE. Allianz did not care! After 3 months, continued to argue that it could be repaired. We had 3 companies who confirmed that the house would NOT be secure if it was repaired and our FENSA Certificate would be void if it the window and door was not replaced! Allianz said they had never heard of FENSA Certificates and had to look into it and get back to us!!!!! After weeks of waiting, Allianz finally said they would replace the window but only with a white framed window (our entire house is dark rosewood framed) so it would not match the rest of the house!!! I then found out that the company from Wales that they insisted on using was not FENSA registered and on telling them this, and waiting for many weeks again, they finally accepted our quote! They then said they would pay out but sat on it again for weeks. After countless frustrating calls, I complained to them that our house was not secure, had not been for months and was absolutely disgusted that they were happy for my daughter and I to sleep in an unsecure house and that if the burglars decided to return and actually managed to get in next time due to the incompetency of Allianz, I would sue and their reputation would be in tatters if we were badly hurt! Following this call, I received a cheque 3 days later! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED with this company. Clearly did not care about our safety and tried EVERYTHING to get out of paying.

“Don't waste your money!”

written by AugustusCochrane411 on 25/04/2016

After storm Katie -- the wind speed caused multiple damage to our property. When trying to claim, the insisted the wind speed was <32 mph. There were fallen trees nearby that were mature -- wind would need to be > 100 mph at least. Their entire claims apparatus is designed to push back on any claim and find a reason not to pay. They are not a customer centric organisation and you are well advised to find another insurer or self insure. Just because you have insurance doesn't mean that you can use it... Think it though before wasting your money with these idiots.

“You're on your own”

The first time I've ever had to claim, or try and claim, from a car insurance company, they are completely unhelpful, my claim has been outstanding nearly 3 months, and each time I call for an update I'm advised it is with the other insurer and they will not chase for 14 days, I am stuck in an endless circle and Allianz could not care less about me. I have already left them as a customer and I will never consider them again.

“WASTE OF TIME!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Grandma2b on 02/04/2015

I came home from work on 10th July 2013 to a disaster scene - a burst water pipe in my loft had virtually destroyed my Council House, furniture & nearly all personal belongings, which I had insured with Allianz through Aberdeen City Council. Unfortunately, I was going on holiday the following day, and on the way to a stopover in Edinburgh before travelling to Newcastle airport then on to Turkey, I was on the phone to Allianz who were unwilling to even talk to me never mind help me as I could not provide a policy number (all my paperwork was mush, surprisingly) I eventually got this from ACC but again, no help from Allianz as I had not completed a claim form. This had to wait until my return from holiday, house took over a month to dry out with dehumidifiers in every room. On reading through the policy booklet from Allianz I noticed there was absolutely nothing relating to Council Tenants, all information was for homeowners. Loss Adjusters were appointed, came to look at the damage and then nothing for 6 weeks despite phone calls, e-mails asking for the forms I was promised to list the damaged items. ACC were brilliant, I had new ceilings, walls & brand new kitchen fitted fairly quickly considering the damage to every room and I was given alternative temporary accommodation from ACC (despite being told by Allianz Complaints Dept.in November 2013 that they would rehouse me for the duration of the rest of the repairs (which amounted to 5 internal doors, 2 bedroom cupboard doors, facings & skirtings that I had done just before the flood) but were unable to find suitable accommodation for the 8 weeks they estimated this joinery work to take. This work did not start until March 2014 and did not finish until August 2014 because of really shoddy workmanship and to date, I have not had my front door key returned to me so am battling to have my locks changed at their cost and also to be compensated financially by Allianz for the extra rent I had to pay for the temporary accommodation over the 8 week period stated to me. This has been dealt with by Allianz, who considered it a "minor delay" and I was offered 2 cheques amounting to £150 - the £50 one was unable to be cashed and I do not think £100 covers the inconvenience I endured. They also have a bizarre way of replacing items - all my electrical items have to be sourced by a separate company and I have to go through pictures of these items to see if I want them or not - can Allianz not give me a card for Currys or wherever so I can get the stuff myself ? see why I should take days off work to wait in for a kettle or a toaster to be delivered! I received a voucher in October 2013 to purchase new wood flooring, carpets & vinyl - the voucher expired Christmas Eve 2013, way before the house was ready for flooring and this is still being stored at the shop I ordered it from! The Ombudsman has also been informed and I received their final reply today telling me that they do not feel that I have been treated unfairly and again said that in cases such as mine "minor delays" have to be expected. Now, nearly 22 months on, I am still not living at home because I lost interest in it for a while, but things are moving along now as regards decoration etc. and I am hoping to be in before the 2 year anniversary! My daughter announced she was pregnant in May 2013 - my granddaughter celebrated her 1st birthday on Christmas Day 2014 and has never been in Grammas house yet! Shambles of a company along with their associates and contractors.

“Abject Customer Services”

★☆☆☆☆

written by everben on 16/01/2015

The most disgraceful customer services I have ever experienced in my life! I do not write reviews but have been forced into action. The company is not interested in helping people. I pity anyone who is trying to make a claim through them. I reported the loss of my wife's watch on 5th of November 14. On numerous occasions I was told the information we needed to supply would be emailed to us. This never happened. I have lost count the number of times I have had to call the company to find out an update. Once we finally obtained the necessary details required to make the claim, I emailed the company on 22nd of November. As per usual I had no reply. I called the company again on the 5th of December to find out what had happened. I was assured the claims handling team would call back within 24 hrs. Total silence!! I called again and was promised the claim’s handler, Leanne would call me back. I received a call from Leanne before Christmas stating that I would require a receipt from the jeweller I bought the watch from with a photograph with her wearing it. This information was emailed through to her on Jan 2nd 2015. I called back on the 7th of Jan and was told that the claim was only put on to the system on the 5th and I would have to wait up to 7 working days before Leanne calls me back. 7 working days came and went, when I called on the 15th I was told the claims handler had gone home for the day and she’d be in touch the next day. No such call occurred; when I called back I was told she was on her lunch. I have a theory that they are trying to drag this out until my policy expires or I die of old age.

“STAY AWAY FROM ALLIAZ!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DooshDuffy on 11/07/2014

Absolute joke of a company. I had a bedroom painted and a new floor put down about two years ago and in the last few months I noticed a load of damp on one corner of the wall which destroyed the curtains and blinds. This was due to dampness getting in from the outside wall, the old walls not been dry lined and small holes from the old cast iron down pipes when the house was first built back 30years ago. Got a builder to have a look, was only a small job for a around 500euros and they rejected the claim saying "this was due to wear and tear of the house", they also said that the photos I sent them were "too good" and it looked like the damp had been going on for years, This hadn't cos my brother was sleeping in that room. Been with them for nearly ten years and never once made a claim, along with paying them nearly 100euro a month. They wouldn't even send out someone to look at the problem in person so instead they got me to send them photos so they could ring me up and reject me over the phone and cant say no to me in person. Total farce of a set up they have that they are too afraid to reject you in person, it's like dumping your ex via text message. I've changed my insurance to a better company and they've helped me out. STAY AWAY FROM ALLIAZ, unless you like throwing your money away!

“Allianz - Terrible Service ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Eli73 on 10/07/2014

I had a non-fault accident in October 2013 which was witnessed by an independent person, I have phoned Allianz weekly and each time I am told they are waiting for the other party to respond to them. I phoned today and have been told that the other party have accepted a 50/50 claim, to which I was unaware I had offered. When asked why we offered a 50/50 claim when it was a witnessed non-fault accident Allianz informed me it was taking too long to get a response from the other party so they thought this was easier, without asking my opinion! Have dealt with other 20 different claim handlers over the months, some of which are very rude and uninterested in my anguish! Will never use this company again

written by Cook50 on 20/05/2014

This is the worst insurance company ever stay well away , they would not pay out for storm damage stating that the wind speeds and rainfall was not enough , well it was enough to do mega damage which Allianz would not pay out for claiming that I had accidental contents damage and buildings damage but here we go no accidental buildings damage well who has ever heard of that ,not me neither had my broker . Stay well away from this company as your policy is not worth the paper it is written on they are very in professional .

“Storm damage”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 11/05/2014

My patio was damaged due to a falling tree but the amount Allianz paid out was nowhere near the cost to repair the damage. It happened at a time when my Aunt was dying and I had no energy or enthusiasm to fight and argue the case, but I will never insure with this company again. They took advantage of my situation and don't see why I should have to get aggressive in order to resolve a fair claim.

“Allianz will happily take your money for years and...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Allianzarecunts on 18/06/2013

Allianz will happily take your money for years and years without so much as a peak but the moment you need to make a claim they will try every trick in the book not to pay out. The ordeal of dealing with a burglary of my house where jewelry, silverware, computers, cash and family heirlooms were taken felt like a walk in the park compared to the months and months of dealings with Allianz. The accusative nature that they go about questioning you and the never-ending requests for evidence (seriously who keeps receipts for anything for more than 3 years) makes you feel like the criminal in the situation. I honestly feel like I would have stood more of a chance getting some money back from the burglars then the company apparently protecting my possessions - never, ever, ever, ever insure with them.

“Rubbish !”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 10/04/2013

I was talked into changing my home and building insurance company by a local broker who assured me I was paying too much and he could get me a much better comprehensive policy ! After discovering cracks in the wall I contacted Allianz whose 1st remark was " you are probably not covered " (not a good start) they sent an assessor in the dark who spent 10 minutes looking outside and another hour filling in forms all to no avail.! Cracks due to 'maintenance' !! After getting a structural surveyor to look we discovered that a very old underground water pipe was leaking we thought this must be an insurance claim backed up by the surveyor , Wrong !! on looking at the very small print hidden at the end of the policy it transpires we are not covered for subsidence due to leaking pipes !!! Allianz policies are not worth the paper they are written on We advise all of our clients and anyone else who will listen don't use them !

“Finally settled but they are the devil in hell!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by theronstar on 17/08/2012

I took out an insurance policy with my housing association last year. I thought I was insured with them but it turned out that they are underwritten by Allianz, thus I came to the realisation these guys were my insurers when I launched a claim at the beginning of this year. I always heard rumours on the grapevine that insurers do their best to make your life difficult and boy did these guys made my life difficult. I don't know where to start or end for that matter but I will give you a taster into some of the things that they did. Firstly, they appointed a loss adjuster who then appointed another claims handler. Complete CHAOS! The left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing and just to make things more interesting a third hand was somewhere in the mix. Wording this another way, I was basically having to maintain three communication links with respect to my claim and I almost always felt I was passing messages between them because they were taking so long to contact their counterpart with respect to me. I was asked to provide Allianz with a subject access request else have my claim rejected. These documents are generated by the police national computer and are highly sensitive and thus the police will tell you that you and only you should have access to it. The police were almost kind of angry on my behalf that another party would pressure me to give them my document. All 5 police staff I spoke to told me that insurers and the police force have internal mechanisms with which they can address any questions an insurer may have. A few other factors about SAR that were annoying is that you have a long silly form to fill out, it was £10 at my expense and it took 40 days to process. Frustratingly I have a ton of enhanced CRBs I could have sent because I discovered they talk about the same stuff anyway and thus saved 2 months in this claim and the fee. They rejected this suggestion. My SAR even took a few weeks longer because I had made the cheque payable to the 'other' department and thus it was held up whilst I was sending in another one. Another thing that annoyed me was my claim was being handled in the South West but I was asked to send the SAR to the Northamptonshire mail room. Another 2 weeks of them faffing around trying to source the document :-( I also had a dozy loss adjuster because after not hearing from her for 5 weeks I called to ask what was going on. She said that she was waiting on a response to an email she had sent me 5 weeks before. I quickly produced the date stamp of the response I had sent her 5 weeks before. That wasn't the only time we had an encounter like that :-( Also, for reasons unknown to me, Davies transferred my file from an office in Nottingham to Stoke on Trent for the rest of claim. Though luckily they were not to have a real part to play for the remainder of the claim. So there you have it, a snapshot into my 7 months of hell. I guess you'll be glad to become a customer with these guys.

After a major water leak I found that Allianz were the underwriters for my buildings claim. They clearly explained what was required for me to submit and 2 days after my quote was submitted they emailed to say the cheque was in the post. Easy and fantastically quick - can't ask for better,

“I've had a really bad experience with this insurance...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Andy Gillott on 27/11/2010

I've had a really bad experience with this insurance company. I returned home from holiday and found i'd been burgled, they'd taken pretty much everything: all appliances, all jewellery, clothes even furniture. I contacted the police and then allianz as they cover me for home and contents. Customer service was very poor 1) I must have given details of the situation and what had been taken 20+ times 2) The tone of the insurance advisors was often accusatory, almost as if I was under suspicion even though i'd been burgled - very unpleasant 3) I had to chase this constantly and the process took 10 weeks only for a pathetic response to the claim. I had over £25,000 worth of my belongings taken and Allianz response to my claim was an offer of £1200. I was insulted and faced a barrage of excuses of why they couldn't pay and honour the claim. Lack of receipts for some of my clothes meant they could exclude that (who honestly keeps all their receipts for old clothes?), they then claimed that i'd not contacted them in the correct timeframe even though i'd been away on holiday and had called them as soon as i'd got back. The excuses went on and on and to be honest I am absolutely disgusted by their behaviour with this. Honestly do yourself a favour and don't take a policy out with this outfit. They are cheap but you realise why when you have to make a claim.

“Absolutely useless insurance policy. Laptop was stolen...”

written by johnrose on 24/11/2010

Absolutely useless insurance policy. Laptop was stolen during a break-in and then started 6 weeks of excuses from Allianz on why they would not settle the claim. They will try every single trick in the book to not pay. Checked online reviews elsewhere and "everybody" has the same feedback - do not touch them with a barge pole beacuse their insurance is not worth the paper it's written on. Six weeks passed and they finally came back with a reject claim because i did not have a receipt for a 3 year old laptop - almost laughable. Just avoid them like the plague.
