Berketex Bride of Edinburgh

I made an appointment for a Sunday but when we turned up the shop was shut. I phoned for an explanation and was told that they had phoned me once on the Thursday to reschedule but I wasn't in and they made no further effort to contact me. I was unhappy with this and contacted Berketex customer services. Two weeks later and I'm still waiting for a response. Not acceptable.

I am a bridesmaid for my friend who has chosen her dress and bridesmaid dresses from the berketex store in Edinburgh. I am not commenting on the dresses themselves but the customer service which was appalling. Firstly, when I called up to make my own appointment for the fitting it was made very difficult. I was told there was no appointments on the day I wanted to come as they were fully booked. So after discussing other possible times which proved hard as it is not taken into account that people have to work, the receptionist seemed to change her mind and said they could fit me in after all. When I arrived in the store, I was taken to the changing room where I was measured for the second time (I was originally measured 4 months previously). The dress fitter helped me with my dress and started to lace it up. Then I was met with some disappointing looks... "Have we put on some weight? This isn't going to close". Tut tut. I said ihad put on a few pounds (4 to be exact but I am still in my size 10 clothes) from my recent holiday, trying to be a bit cheery though i was quite mortified. Then the dress fitter proceeded to check my new measurements against my old. "You've gained 2 and a half inches, look" without wanting to be in denial, I can't see how that can be true if I can fit in all of my clothes, even my skinny jeans... followed by further comments such as "I think you'll be heading up Arthur's seat (As in to lose weight)" "this needs to be let out, I can move the modesty panel but that just won't do it". No positive comments what-so-ever.

To be honest, I was just appalled at such comments. I feel lucky that I don't suffer from low self esteem as if I did, I would have come out of that shop crying! I am a size 10 and yes i enjoyed myself on my holiday but that is not for the dress fitter to comment on. She should make it her job to make every woman who goes into that shop beautiful in their dresses no matter their size. Well, it's safe to say I'm not looking forward to my final fitting and am finding it difficult to look forward to wearing that dress on the day. I would not recommend this shop to anyone, particularly if you are in need of a confidence boost.

My sister (the bride-to-be) and I (maid of honour) popped into the Edinburgh branch of Berketex Bride after she made an appointment. We didn't look at any reviews, just went on the basis that it was in the centre of Edinburgh near where she lives. And by first impression, we weren't particularly impressed but decided to go in and give it a chance. There was another bride-to-be inside trying on dresses, so my sister had to share the same dressing room (separated by just a curtain) which was very inconvenient as we felt that we couldn't fully discuss what we liked or disliked about the dress because she was wearing similar dresses. We kept getting our try-on dresses mixed because their system was very confusing - we were told to go through the dresses and turn the hangers to face forward so they would know which my sister would try on. But the other bride-to-be had clearly done that before we entered, so her shop assistant was picking up our dresses, getting them rejected and putting them back without the hangers facing forward, meaning my sister missed the chance of trying them. My sister was also getting given the other bride-to-be chosen dresses and they were not her style at all - so we were having our time wasted by having her trying on dresses she never chose in the first place. I was also treated very dismissively by both my sister's and the other bride-to-be shop assistants, despite my being there as a sister and maid of honour. I had stepped into the changing room after a miscommunication and was rudely told to leave and sit in the front area by my sister's assistant. The other assistant also seemed to be very annoyed that we were there, despite us having made an appointment. When I saw that she was picking up my sister's chosen dresses and turning the hangers back around, I quickly informed her that they were actually for my sister, she was very dismissive and unhelpful, simply walking away from me - I had to turn the dresses around again. My sister had asked me to get a dress for her as her assistant didn't know which one, so I picked out a more slim-line dress that appeared similar to one she had tried before only to be told by the assistant that my sister wanted a fuller skirt (think Gypsy wedding style) - dismissing me, the maid of honour who knows that her own sister does not like fuller skirts that style. When my sister didn't like the dress, the assistant then went on to tell her that she had 'told' me that it was the wrong type of dress for her - shifting the blame onto me. Another thing we disliked was the quality of the dresses in-store, the materials were cheap and nasty. The customer service and overall experience was just very poor, and we couldn't wait to leave the shop - we most certainly won't be going back OR recommending it to anyone.

went in to berketex bridal in kirkcaldy after trailing all day in edinburgh round countless bridal shops was greeted with a lovely lady who coudnt help us enough after trying on around four i found my dream gown she also went to another department in the store for us and matched it with an amazing fasinator gave me 20 percent of my dress her name was isy so girls if you want an amazing service with nothing was to much trouble attitude then head there good luck
