Build Quality Zero, Reliability Zero......don't Buy!!!!

I bought one of these K4 compact models to replace a Kew "hobby 80" that died after 35 years extremely reliable service.

The unit came with a vario lance, and a dirtblaster lance, in addition to the pressure hose and gun.

Firstly, the cable length meant that it could not be used without an extension lead.

Secondly, the pressure, despite being advertised as 130psi simply is not as good as the 80psi in the Kew model.

Thirdly, the soap is dispensed through the machine by a small side hose which is pulled out and put directly into the soap solution. After some use, the soap hose pulled completely out of the machine with part of its internal nozzle.

The dirtblaster nozzle had given up, and one of the wheels on the machine was somehow damaged.

The machine had to be packaged up, and collected for a repair under warranty.

When the machine was eventually returned, the repairer had completed the work, but the pressure in the machine seemed to be considerably less than when it was originally supplied.

After another couple of uses (only for washing the car), the soap hose again has become separated from the body of the machine. This means that the unit again has to be packed up and transported for repair.

I have decided to return the unit to the supplier as not being fit for its intended purpose. Two breakages within a year is unacceptable.

My advice.....avoid buying Karcher!! If Kew had still been in business, I would have purchased another of their products!

Bought The Karcher K4.99m August 2008, Worked Fine

bought the karcher k4.99m august 2008, worked fine for about 10 months used about 6 times to clean the 2 cars and was stored indoors after use.

tried to use the machine 3 months ago and was leaking water that much that there was no preasure from the washer.

contact karcher and was advised to buy various parts over a period of 5 weeks with a total cost of £60+ p&p.

had the parts fitted at different times as they arrived because the previous parts did not solve the problem

to this day 20th july 2010 the machine still lies in pieces.

i would not buy or entertain karcher preasure washers ever again.

dont know what i am going to buy now but i will be reviewing before i buy.

lots of new spare parts going to anyone who needs them.
