I've Wanted A Digital Photo Frame For Ages But The

I've wanted a digital photo frame for ages but they've always seemed too expensive for what they are. You either pay through the nose for a big brand frame with a great design like Sony or get a budget one with a naff screen and even more naff frame around it.

I saw the Sony DPF-D72 on sale in the Putney Sony Centre at half price - £49.99 - and made a random impulse purchase one Sunday morning. The half price offer was my biggest driver because the full price of £100 seems too steep for a small photo frame, even one as slick and sexy looking as the Sony.

On to the product, it looks classy. Slick black glossy frame, high quality build and a nice, high res display. If you rotate the frame between landscape and portrait it auto-rotates the picture just like an iPhone was is cool. The Sony logo is backlit and you have the option of switching it off so the logo disappears into the frame.

The remote control included in the pack is a lifesaver. You can switch the display on and off form the comfort of your sofa and skip through photos to find your favourites.

One of the negatives is the reflection caused by the glossy screen. You have to place the photo frame at the right angle in the right spot in your room to make sure you get a good view. It's not a major problem unless your room is constantly flooded with sunlight.

Another niggle is that, as for most Sony products, the software is not as intuitive as it could be. I managed to copy a bunch of photos across fairly easily but it took me 20 minutes and some trial and error button pressing to get them to start showing on the display.

Overall a great little gadget that (for £49.99) was great value. A nice gadget that helps me enjoy and share my photographic memories.
