“Aston Martin and Ariel Atom drive”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ThaddeusOgden240 on 11/03/2015

where do i start?finding the place is a challenege, sat nav sent me to the wrong entrance, after driving through an industrial estate and up the worst road riddels with pot holes i came to hand written sign stating that this entrance was for Vison Mootorsport employees and deliveries only. The sign tells you to go back to main road and follow signs for Banbury.Back out and by luck i found the tiny entrance up a dirt path again riddled with pot holes.(Look out for small signs that just say "VMS) The Aston looked great from the outside but inside has seen better days. The track is tiny(surely this is a go-kart track) The drive was over in a matter of minutes, waste of time and money, never ever going again

“did not even bother going after the poor reviews on here”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 10/12/2014

I had a red letter day voucher given to me by my workplace, I booked the super 5 car experience for the first week in Dec 2015. I always like to read reviews about any product/services before hand so read all the reviews on here the day before the outing, I was so upset after the reading the reviews as I was really looking forward to the experience it spoilt the rest of that day and in the end I did not even bother going. I have been driving for over 15 years and to have a instructor tell me when to change gears will really annoy me and I can carry on....Probably would have got in to an arguement. I know you should not always read reviews but for this product all the reviews made sense and true. Instead I went out with my family and had a lovely day out rather than risk travelling 100 miles to get upset and have a really bad day.

“If driver is over 16 stone don't your waste money!!”

written by Kevy1 on 06/07/2014

My Wife bought me this track day experience as my 50th Birthday gift, yet when I tried to book I was asked what my height and weight was? I told them I was 19st and was then told I couldn't do it in the race or Bmw!!! and only could go on the land rover experience! Yet nothing was explained about these restrictions when she booked it! she wouldn't have wasted almost £200!! they refused a refund so I had to sell for peanuts! Total rip off in my opinion.

“3 supercar experience”

★★★★☆

written by on 22/10/2013

My heart is still thumping. The track is very narrow, and it looks like people are plodding round in procession. How wrong was I? The Chief said he was happy for people to drive fast, that's what the cars are about. But don't lose control. Tyre tracks showed that one person had lost a Ferrari today. I was expecting the cars to be quick, but BLIMEY! I was shocked just how quick, and how tightly they gripped. Ferrari 360 - my first car - the circuit is as tight as a farm track, and it's hard to use it all. I never got the hang of this car. Aston Martin Vantage - Less silly power, more regular handling, very nice machine. A HUGE grin after driving this. Lamborghini Gaillardo - O My Word. 550 horses. Nail it. Scream. Anchors. Turn. No sign of slip or slither, power and MORE POWER. By lap 3 we had hauled in and overtook the Ferrari, mid corner on a 6 m track. That was a moment of extreme concentration (ahem). I would have loved to be taken around the track once to get to feel it first. In a Mondeo would have been OK!

“Complete waste of money!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 06/10/2013

A very disappointing experience, due partly to an over-zealous instructor who had far too much input into the drive and was extremely over-critical of my driving ability on the debrief. Additionally, the circuit would be more appropriate for the use of go-karts than performance cars having a very short strait and ridiculously tight bends at which you nearly had to come to a standstill. Clearly designed to restrict speeds and therefore limit wear and tear on their stock. Frankly, I would have had more fun driving a vauxhall corsa on the circuit. A complete waste of time and money.

“Aston and Atom suberb”

★★★★★

written by on 22/07/2013

My experience drive had been cancelled earlier in the year due to the snow we had in March but this time we got lucky with the weather. The whole experience was good from the booking in, the pre drive briefing and the drives themselves. My first experience was in the Atom and although I'd watched and knew what to expect the initial acceleration onto the track was just awesome. Although things got faster it was easier to adjust to the speeds down the straights and keeping the helmet on at 135mph was difficult. Moving onto the Aston. The instructor was really good, clear explanations and encouragement to go flat out once he had gained confidence in your ability. A 50th birthday present I won't forget, just a shame my kids couldn't see my face as I first went onto the track in the Atom. A great day out.

“A waste of money! ”

★★☆☆☆

written by MrHerb on 07/07/2013

I arrived and went in for the briefing, where they state all the health & safety stuff and then talk about the driving experience. The events manager was very professional, and said we should easily be achieving 130mph on the straight! So outside we went to await our 2 laps being driven around in a pro drive wrx subura. We then got told we would be taken round in a.........ford puma as the subura takes too long to strap people in!!!!! I was gutted by this, as I was really looking forward to the drive in the subura. The straight was very short, so I was dubious of these alleged 130mph achievable speeds! So once that was done it was Lamborghini time. Got in the car, adjusted the seat, and fired it up. Beautiful sound and by now i was very excited. So into 1st gear, pulled away and quickly told to change in to 2nd gear, then 3rd!!!! Then for the next 5 laps the greatest speed achievable was 70-80mph at a push, as I was told to keep it in 3rd and not drop below that, so coming out of the last tight corner onto the straight in 3rd was so sluggish you simply couldn't get a fast straight speed! The circuit being so small meant the 6 laps were over before they had hardly begun and there are so many corners and turns its ridiculous. Yes it's a purpose made track..... Purposely made so you can't go fast!!!!! We arrived at 09,.45am......we were on our way home at 11am!!!!! The whole point of the day to the organisers is to turn people round as quick as possible. They offer you 2 lap drives in all the other cars.....for £35, which is cheap considering my track 'day' cost £160!!!! All in all in my opinion its a very disappointing experience. Plus if you want pictures of your drive it cost me £20 for a cd with them on, taken by a professional photographer. Now bear in mind I had 6 laps and on my cd i had.......2 images on it, as that's all the photographer took!!! Is it a rip off....yes.....would i go again....no.....would I recommend it to anyone.....DEFINITELY NOT!!!!! I hope they read this to be honest, as they said they are open to suggestions, and there's plenty in this review to give them some food for thought!!!!

“Elvington supercar day”

★★★★★

written by on 28/04/2013

I read reviews about Vision motorsport and it appeared that the supercar track at Oxford is very restrictive. So I booked for Elvington which is laid out on an airfield. i drove the Aston Martin Vantage, Porsche GT3, Audi R8 and the fantastic Lamborghini Gallardo. It was awesome. the instructors let me go once I had done a lap and showed I knew what I was doing, going for the apex etc and breaking before the corner and powering out. They pushed me to floor it and have fun. "Ignore the boards that say 'BRAKE' - just go for it! Lol If you have the ability to drive fast safe, this is for you. I was 120mph down the straight and that was past the 'brake' boards' - cant say they will do that with everyone but this day is great!

“Fantastic day”

written by jaswal on 21/03/2013

I had a brilliant session on the ride and drive experience on 15/03/13. Got to drive the subaru impreza round the track and contrary to other reviews did not find the instruction restrictive but encouraging to do more. After that I was driven around the track in the ariel atom for three laps and couldn't wipe the smile off my face for the rest of the day.

written by looselips on 17/03/2013

firstly we had the safety briefing then we were split up into groups. my order of the day went- porche gt3, aston martin. lamborghini and ferrari. my experiences are as follows- porche gt3 [name removed] is an awesome instructor, he got the most out of me and the car.he encouraged me to put my foot down. brilliant !!! aston martin v8 vantage the car was dull and heavy, i think the instructor knew this. this was a poor example of probably a great car. it was noisy and i almost asked if a wheel bearing had gone lamborghini gallardo 4 wheel drive and the performance to make the most of it,loved it!! ferrari 360 no abs or traction control, a drivers car! again encouraged to make the most out of the performance, awesome!! downside- squeaky brakes! i would have liked a longer straight on the track, you just get up to a decent speed then have to brake.also the red and white safety cones need renewing as they are faded and not very visible. all in all I thoroughly enjoyed my day. going to book my sister in soon! as a passing note the cars are only as good as your instructor, thankyou [name removed] xx kind regards margaret

“Good time at Vision Motorsport”

★★★★☆

written by on 11/03/2013

I think that the previous reviews posted here are unfair. I found the driving day really good fun. The day started with a brief then we were put in groups to take turns in a Ferrari, Porche, Lambo and Aston. There are breaking signs and cones which I thought were useful. I did not find the rules restrictive, you were able to floor the cars and put them through their paces. I found the instructors professional and friendly. The cars were well used but nothing to take away from the enjoyment of the day. Everyone I saw was having a great time. One word of warning though - be careful not to spin off because that will be the end of your experience, they are very strict on this one.

“do not visit this dump ”

written by coaldust01 on 25/07/2012

Ok where to start. Your not allowed to accelerate past about 2k in first gear when pulling out on to the tiny track. They keep you in third gear in the corners so coming out of the corners you are basically at idle then you accelerate and they tell you to change gear before the v8 and v10 engines start getting into there stride. Bear in mind the ferrari and lambo rev to 9 or 10K they will ask you to change at about 5k. You have to brake a studid distance before the corners aswell. and the atom takes people for rides so your more than likely have to move over for that also. I found it more frustrating than enjoyable being in control of such beasts and not being able to drive it how you want to. Book elsewhere

“Rally Day”

★★★★★

written by Martin_Parker on 29/03/2012

I have just done my fourth full rally day in 3 years with Vision and what a great day it was. Great equipment, great track, great people - just do it, you won't regret it. Whether you're in the Subarus or the Pumas - you'll have a blast. Hand brake turns, 4 wheel slides, over-steer, under-steer you do the lot but don't let the jargon put you off these guys tailor their tuition to your level and I can guarantee that you'll know far more about car handling by the end of the day.

“Avoid Vison Motorsport in Oxfordshire”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 18/06/2011

Agree with the above. I paid £235 for a half day in a Ferrari 360, Audi R8, Subaru, GT3 and Aston Martin. The Ferrari kept on crunching in third gear and was squealing so loudly on braking it was overwhelming. Quite often you were not allowed to go more than 50% up the rev range before you were told to change gear. You were not allowed to go beyond 2k revs in first gear when starting out. The brake zone markers were miles out - so became useless. Only 2 short straights - in 3 of the cars I had to do the whole circuit in 3rd gear only ! Out the 5 instructors 3 were particularly arrogrant and rude. They spent there time not offering constructive criticism but just really heavily criticising driving technique without offering any particular advice on what to do to correct! They were pushing some people way beyond their limits on a rain soaked track and eventually another older participant spun the GT3 way off the road. They were doing this in the context that you were liable for the first £2000 of damage unless you paid £20 insurance upfront ! Avoid - better companies elsewhere.

Enjoyed my hours at Vision did the Aston Martin vs Lamborghini Gallardo test. The test run with the instructor driving was in a Ford Puma which was disappointing would have preferred a more exotic car. The Aston Martin went very well, all the gears worked. although there were braking signs we ignored those. the Lamborghini was a joy to drive and you could floor the accelerator on the straight. for a car enthusiast it was very enjoyable perhaps not for a would be racing driver.

Did porche 911 thrill experience. Well what can I say keep your money in your pocket. The car was a bag of poo. 1st gear didnt even work. The circuit would be more suited to go carts or mini motos. Its tiny less than a mile long. Each lap takes less than 2 minutes. I did 8 laps so 16 minutes total for £130...Wasnt allowed to give the car any stick, the braking markers are sooo way out. I was told to break at the point of these markers but had to come off the brakes or would have actually stopped before even getting to the corners. What a load of rubbish...A real shame as its been my dream to drive a 911 for so long and having finally done it I wish i'd just kept it as a dream...well dissapointed

Save your cash! Had a GT3 driving session. The briefing and refreshment room was quite good but that's about it. You turn up, get briefed but warned if you lose the car once, then it's game over. The track is something out of toy town, very narrow, short straight and tight bends. You are not allowed to really get use to the car and at the end of the session the instructor told me that I should try the rally session as you learn about driving and my GT3 session isn't value fir money!!! Each laptop takes a couple of minutes but they spread these out and make the whole session last 90 minutes. The catch is they try to sell you rides in other cars, so basically the hope to get you bored enough you buy other sessions!! I have completed a driving experience at Goodwood, whilst it's more money, save your cash at Vision for somewhere else.

“My treat was to be the Aston Martin Thrill from Vision...”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 12/08/2010

My treat was to be the Aston Martin Thrill from Vision Motorsport at Great Tew.
The initial briefing was short and to the point and most of the time was spent by our instructor killing wasps with his Blackberry!
Two laps in the Subaru WRX STi followed, which were quite enjoyable and gave a good idea of the circuit. The circuit was disappointing as there were two quite short straights and lots of twisty stuff - no sweeping bends to allow the cars to stretch their legs. As noted in another review the braking points were set so far in advance of the corners that the cars finished braking a long way short of the turn-in points and a lot of time was spent coasting along waiting for the corner. Hardly conducive to an exciting drive!
My instructor put my back up fairly quickly by pointing out that my road car was a 'hairdressers car'! That might be true (although I don't consider a Mercedes AMG CLK55 with about 350HP really a 'hairdressers car') but he could have been a bit more diplomatic with his comments.
The track time was 6 laps which sounded OK but the very short lap made this less impressive that it sounded at first. My previous track experience was the Ferrari drive at Goodwood and that was a much more rewarding experience.
Not recommended I'm afraid.
