“The NSP-2 is a generation 0 active infra red night...”

written by svdsniper on 30/06/2010

The NSP-2 is a generation 0 active infra red night sighting device. It is quite bulky but when you think back to the 1960s this device would have been top secret and very advanced for its time. It uses a high power infra red search light to illuminate the battlefield and a small single stage infra red convertor to provide a visible image from the invisible infra red light and the image quality is actually surprisingly good for a 1960s device. this device is a little limmited by the fact it has a large belt mounted battery pack with a run time of maybe an hor or so but i have made up a battery pack that powers mine for over two hours (although the searchlight beam gets dimmer and looses its range as the batteries deplete) but in general this interesting and highly collectable device is well worth owning. I bought mine complete in its Czech marked transit case for £38.00 plus import costs so look around as bargains are out there for those who look the hardest in the right places.
