Ordered numerous plants which said were shipped on a Tuesday. A week later not received so sent an email but only got a response that they had received it. Two days later finally got very dry plants and some were climbers but the ends had broken off so not good condition not all labelled. “BUYER BEWARE! Dead plant and NO REFUND”

Gardening Express sent me a dead plant. Completely dead. It must have been dead days before before they packaged it for delivery. I have contacted them six times asking for a refund. No response except for a generic message asking me for photos of the dead plant, despite me having sent photos on three prior occasions. I have had the same experience. All their emails are automated. I’m left with two dead plants. They keep on sending me emails to ask me to return the dead plants at my cost. I’m not prepared to do this, as most reviews indicate that they never get refunded. Dreadful experience and massive lesson learned. Wish I had the CEO email / phone number! ☹️

“Dead plants”

I have ordered loads of plants and was really pleased however now, not so! I seem to have been palmed off with dead plants. All research suggests that mine should be evergreen but mine are clearly dead. I’ve been asked to wait and see if they rise (over Easter) from the dead but I’m clearly being fobbed off. Ordered a large number of plants from Gardening Express last year, just under £200 worth. All plants were planted once received and cared for. Coming into the Autumn they died off and now Spring has arrived a third of the plants have not grown back and died off. They were cared for and have had no other plants die off. Bought 2 plants at £12.95. They substituted on of these for a plant selling on their site at £5.99. They did not ask me if they could do this and in my "account" they untruthfully say they sent the plants ordered. You cannot contact them by phone - their number charges extra but in any event cuts off before you get through to a person. Advertised two planters for 9.99 a pair on sale So ordered two pairs. Received 2 pots in a box. No Paperwork or receipt in box. Planters should have been 42cms but the ones they sent were 28cms! The plants they show on their website bear no resemblance to what they actually send out. Some plants they don't even send at all. They state that YOU have to pay to return 'Faulty' goods. This is a lie. The law on distant selling is perfectly clear. If you order items online, they HAVE to be as described. Part of my order was totally the wrong item, I tried to contact GE immediately but was constantly sent round in circles. After several attempts I was given a request number but a week later have heard nothing. In the past I have been pleased with the plants, and have recommended GE but won't again at my Horticultural Society. Wrong items sent. Missing plants. Plants damaged and pots crushed on arrival. Rotten bulbs sent. But the worst of this site is the customer service. THERE IS NONE! I must have sent a dozen emails about the missing plants and numerous requests to return the wrong/damaged items in the past 6 weeks but all I’ve received is automated responses saying that they will be in touch. “Broken plants, too expensive to return”

They seem to want to make profit from their mistakes. Poor packaging resulted in some irreparably broken plants, now I'm struggling to get a reply from Gardening Express. I even tried calling their 7p a minute phone line only to get a 'please hold lines are busy' type message. So reluctantly I'm looking at sending them back, which their website says I should pay postage for and which will cost me more than the price of the plants. I bought a little christmas tree for my autistic daughter so she can enjoy it all year round. The box and pot were broken when they arrived and the pot ripped into the roots..so now the tree is rootless. I have been fobbed off left right and centre. Please do not waste your money. I received a Christmas tree and paid about £40 which so say was 1/2 price, when I received this and unpacked tree, the quality was very poor so I contacted customer services and received a generic message not hardly responding to my complaint. Delayed dispatch (for no reason) meant my parcel (if it ever arrives) is too late for the birthday I ordered it for. They can question my review within seconds but can't reply to the three messages that I sent them. Customers are required to fill in a form online to query a problem but they just don't respond.
