Written on: 07/07/2017 by Ada166 (1 review written)

Canceled my repair service and they won't refund my money. The debit card I used for initial payment was lost by my husband. Because they cannot use this card they will not refund my money. They will not refund my money by check or my debit card.Very slow returning my emails… Read Full Review

“Cold call scam”

Written on: 04/05/2012

My wife has had three calls from this outfit and has asked them to call back as she knows that there would be a minor nuclear explosion if she started messing with the PC in the way they suggest. This time I was at home and knowing it to be a likely scam went along with them until I could work out what they wanted to do. After 5 minutes of me playing thick they gave up. Please avoid at all costs… Read Full Review

“Nerd Support - Now NERDI Support - Same Phishing SCAM...”

Written on: 28/10/2011

Got a cold call from 'John Smith' (nice Indian Name considering the thickness of his Indian accent combined with the a tang of call centre trained American), calling from the London (yeah, right) offices of NERDI. He advised me that he is a registered Microsoft Technician and that they have had confirmation of over 3000 virus/errors on my PC. Now, I know this is a scam, no one cold calls you to offer assistance with you 'Problem' PC, so I tagged along. What i need to do is turn on my computer… Read Full Review

Yes - still hapenning - just got such a call today - [name removed] was the caller from London - though he refused to give me the address of the company - when I insisted he thought I was going to do something 'fishy' with the address! He also couldn't explain how thw anonymoue error reports sent to microsoft (which I've turned off) contain any reference to my phone number

“The Nerd Support is not a legitimate company. Here is...”

Written on: 08/06/2010

The Nerd Support is not a legitimate company. Here is what I know from my elderly father's experience:
1. They prey on the less computer savvy people they cold call with made up scare stories about viruses.
2. They claim to be from Microsoft or from the "mark's" ISP.
3. They take money for illegally pirated copies of Windows 7.
4. With the mark's assistance over the 'phone, they take remote control of the mark's computer. What they do in addition to bit-torrenting the illegal version of Windows… Read Full Review

Written on: 26/05/2010

I also think this is a scam. I have had 2 calls from them - same spiel as the other reviewers. Fortunately I am reasonably computer literate. As soon as they are challenged they hang up. However I think Microsoft should be taking action as they claim to be acting on their behalf and to be an Accredited Partner… Read Full Review

Written on: 18/05/2010

I downloaded a trojan virus when downloading some quiz photos of famous names. The next day I got a call from this company (coincidence ?) to say my windows xp was causing microsoft a problem and that they (Nerdsupport) worked in conjunction with microsoft, they seemed to know all about my computer problem and I naively fell for the sucker punch of paying £185 so that they could download windows 7 onto my pc remotely. I became suspicious and didnt want anyone with remote access to my computer… Read Full Review

Written on: 16/05/2010 by stardog32 (18 reviews written)

They're a con. They cold call you and try to get you to pay to remove a non-existent virus from your PC. Just do a bit of searching to find out more about this company. The sooner they go out of business the better. Sometimes they take your card details and claim they won't charge you anything, that it's just for ID, but then they charge you anyway.

There are plenty of great local PC repair shops - use one of them where if you have a problem you can get Trading Standards or the police… Read Full Review

Written on: 17/04/2010

Just got a cold call from someone claiming to be from nurdsupport team. The name was worrying in itself, and although the female (who claimed to have the same first name as me, I presume to endear herself to me, as she was not likely to have a very english name in the first instance, again put me on alert. Stupidly I allowed a programme to be installed on my pc and she showed me loads of errors that my pc apparently had. I could see her moving across and around my pc which was scary, and… Read Full Review

This review correctly identifies Nerd Support as a scam company, yet still gives them 3 out of 5 stars! Why?

I just had a call from these guys, and thought it sounded weird so Googled them while on the phone and found these type of reviews thankfully! I made an excuse to get off before they could take any money etc. I don't think they've downloaded anything onto my computer as we didn't get to that stage, but I am doing a virus check,(that is why they called!) and will change passwords etc asap! Be wary!!… Read Full Review

Written on: 16/04/2010

They call me to say I have a virus in my computer and they can solve it. They ask me to type "ammyy" website so they can reach my computer by themselves. I asked lots of questions because I was doubtful. They reassured me that they work with Microsoft. I paid the £185. Now I have read all your commets. How could I be so stupid? I do not want to do any internet banking in case they can access all my details if I type them. Does this mean they have undivided access to my computer now and will get… Read Full Review

Received a very agressive cold call from nerdsupport.com. Claiming to be ringing on behalf to Mircrosoft and telling me that they had identified red alert viruses on my computer which will corrupt the hard drive or motherboard within days. To fix this they asked me to spend £185 for the year to recieve technical support. Went on this review site as they were talking which helped me make the decision that this is a scam. Do not use this company… Read Full Review

“This is definitely a scam. There is no way...”

Written on: 11/04/2010

This is definitely a scam. There is no way technically that this company would be able to to know whether or not you have a virus. No internet service provider would or could identify viruses on individual computers that usually have firewalls running. This company is playing on peoples fear and lack of IT knowledge and need to be stopped. I think the term is obtaining money by deception. Complain to the police and the office of Fair Trading. Spread the word.

“I have just received an unsolicited phone call from...”

Written on: 27/03/2010 by RichardS (1 review written)

I have just received an unsolicited phone call from the people at www.thenerdsupport.com

The caller claimed that my computer was sending out virus messages. He tried to suggest that my Internet Service Provider (Virgin Media) had asked him to call and help me. He also tried to suggest that he was part of a Microsoft scheme. But, when cross questioned, he became very evasive.

My personal opinion is that there is something very wrong here. Any company that makes such phone calls is to be… Read Full Review
