“Still Awaiting Flight Refund, they've had our money 3...”

We are still awaiting a refund of over £2000 from Dream World Travel for our Virgin Atlantic return flights to LA in July 2020, which were cancelled due to the pandemic. We spoke to Virgin Atlantic at the end of December. They had no record of a refund request, but processed it as soon as we queried it. Been trying to get a refund since April 2020 from DWT! The airline confirmed they paid DWT in May 2020 & although this wasn't confirmed until February 2021 by Qatar Airways, DWT hid behind the excuse they were waiting to be refunded from Qatar. I have had numerous excuses & very contradictory ones too, which proves they will say anything to put you off for a few weeks. It must be very boring to work in that office. Unless you enjoy throwing money down the drain I would avoid at all cost!!! This company is a complete scan! Tickets were purchased to visit my sister in Australia and to fly out 31st March 2020 but the pandemic hit. Since then the communication from this company has been awful. My family and I have sent them repeated emails for a cash refund and they respond each time trying to offer a credit note. Please do not make the mistake I did by parting with your hard earned money and giving it away to these people. They took over £5000k of our money and used it to keep trading, coming up with everything under the sun not to give it us back. This took over 8 months of stress and turbulence caused by this company. Anyone under the illusion that this is a company to trust your holiday with just try calling the sales line (not customer service) and say you are trying to sort out a refund for a canceled flight. Then see how long before they hang up. I got to refund and immidiatly was cut off. I have waited since April for a refund. The kind of company you see on Rogue Trader or Watchdog - do not believe them, do not book with them. On April 3rd, I paid Dream World Travel (DWT) £881 for an Emirates return ticket for Chile, before coronavirus kicked off. The flight, from Edinburgh Airport was due to leave on 4th December. No stars if possible! I booked tickets on 03/11/19 to travel in August 2020 for our wedding. Due to the pandemic we have had to postpone the wedding and I asked for a refund on 11/05/2020. Dream world approved the refund but was delaying to give us the money (over 5 months) until they received the funds from Oman Air and later asked to issue a travel voucher instead. My flight was cancelled end of March and I'm still waiting for my refund (along with LOTS of other people) I would recommend you don't use this awful company if there are issues they will not be any help just want your money and zero customer service. I have never struggled so much to deal with a travel company in my life. Constantly receiving false promises and no assistance. For example, called on Monday asking for my refund details and agent asures me they will be sent to me by the end of the day. Shocking company. Will not refund my flights due to covid. They keep saying that they can't refund me as airline haven't refunded them. I contacted the airline directly and they confirmed that dream world travel have not at any point contacted them regarding my case. I booked through DWT and I received my booking confirmation but no e-tickets. I called them and sent email and requested my e-tickets, they dealt with my request and sent me the e-tickets, I did had to chase for this as their policy states they can issue e-tickets closer to the time of travel, I find this policy a bit weird as I’m used getting my e-tickets immediately. I am currently having the same problem as you, and I have been on hold and cut off about 16 times and when I have got through the call centre have been unable to deal with it properly after promising to rectify the problem, Told today after 3 hours of trying that I have to phone back tomorrow, never had such bad service in all my life and never have not been given e tickets straight away

As your flight isn’t until June 2021, I feel that your review is a little optimistic, they haven’t actually provided a service to you as yet, and if your flight is cancelled you will have a hard job getting your money back and be in the same situation as 1000’s of us are, out of pocket and swindled.

If everything goes smoothly they are fine. Just hope your flights are not cancelled as it will mean months of frustration and excuses. Then come the extra fees. 8 months and I am still waiting for any refund and they are already saying they will keep £300. Every time I look into this and prove them wrong along comes another story.
Delayed refunds are to be expected - stories and hidden charges are not.
Don't judge a company just when things go easy - see how they handle real problems. Try phoning to get through to customer care and see how easy that is or just for a laugh try the accounts option.

be aware.... have to wait 40 minutes to deal with customer service and then they are no help at all. in our case we simply want to change the date on on of our flights as we cannot get a covid test within 3 days of arrival. Cutting a long story short. I booked and paid for a flight last July 2019, with DWT, for a flight to Singapore for May thus year. With the lockdown and restrictions, I remained patient for my refund. Our flight was cancelled and so we requested a refund 5 months ago and still we have received nothing. When we requested our refund it was for a cash refund and we said that we would not accept a travel voucher, now after 5 months of waiting and back of forthing casing it up, they said they have sent us a travel voucher. Please save yourself the hassle and avoid this company at all costs. If you can take the time to read all of this then please do. I had a flight booked through Dreamworld Travel which was cancelled by Qatar Airways. I am now waiting for a refund from DWT and had nothing but problems. Customer support is a complete joke. Immediately inform your bank if you used their services and they should help you issue a chargeback. if they cannot help because of the 6-8 weeks 'waiting time' then immediately email DWT to refund within 15 days.
if you still dont get it within this, and you used bank transfer/services, credit/debit card, call bank and ask for a chargeback. for credit card one could issue a section 75. if you used other payment methods, ask the company to issue chargeback. one option is to use small claims court or lawyer.
do not waste time, take action right now. only the bank or court can get any refund due.
once you have done the work for refund, inform action fraud to help save others too. copy and share this genuine review that i made from my experience to help others too.
i had same experience as you.
