★★★★★

It is very difficult to find fault with this hotel. The staff are efficient and friendly. The rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels and linen is changed twice weekly. The buffet breakfast is superb. The swimming pool area has free sunbeds. The hotel is only a 4 minute walk to the beach and 8 minutes to the bus station. If you are looking for negatives there a very few. Lack of drawers in the room and not enough sun umbrellas plus a grotty breakfast on a tray if you are making an early start for a trip.

written by A couple of Sunseekers on 24/01/2010

The Hotel is located is a peaceful area close to the beach and town centre. The rooms are spacious with Air conditioning, balcony, television and mini bar. Unfortunately as is common with most European hotels no tea making facilities. The dining room is compact and the buffet breakfast was very nice but the same every day. It is best to get into the dining room by 9 o'clock as it can get crowded after that time. The staff are friendly and helpful although there were a couple of individuals would did not fall into that category. The swimming pool is pleasant with a number of sun beds. The entertainment left a lot to be desired and was poor. One word of warning only 2 lifts so if you are towards the top of the hotel you may have to a long wait or have to walk up and down the stairs. Not good if any walking difficulties. we would suggest you request a room at least not higher than the 5th floor.looking at other hotels in Monte Gordo we felt this was one of the best and good value for money. Not really suitable for families and guests were mainly more mature not many under 35. Dutch form the largest of a mixture of nationalities staying here. The Hotel Alcazar is recommended by us for couples wanting a quiet holiday. Not suitable for young and lively brigade as only a couple of bars with any life.
