A cheap phone with incredibly frustrating predictive text and a useless camera - however at the price one cannot expect too much!

Great Value for money phone, It has everything you would really need in a phone a good 2MP camera, Mp3 Player, Call, Text, FM Radio and All For £9-00!!!. The people at Orange where also very helpful in transferring my Virgin Mobile Number over. The only issue that I do have is that the Signal for the GPRS is not great in that I have to be outside to use it... Apart from that a Great Little Phone!!!

I've had this phone for a while and so far I haven't had any problems with it. I have to admit the predictive text is a bit annoying, but with time you get used to it. It is a basic phone, but it has all the things you really need on it. A great value for money phone, I know people who've spent double the amount on a phone and still had problems. Still works after having orange juice spilled on it!

As above this is cheap but annoying, ring tones are bad, screen useless, has a mind of it's own, and now after 7 months it's dead! AVOID!!!!

This phone fails in every way at the most basic levels - reception rubbish, battery life is so low it doesn't even last 24hrs. And as forhaving to press "send " in FIVE places with a text message - give me a break.
DO NOT PURCHASE ON ANY ACCOUNT.

The screen is horrific, turning off the keylock takes great patience and generally speaking, this is a terrible phone. I only needed a cheap phone until I had the money to afford a better one, and granted you get what you pay for, but I would have rathered a more expensive, less annoying phone. Ok, so the Rome is easy to use, but the buttons seem to ignore you and do what they want, the predictive text is just odd and everytime I have to use this phone, I just get narked off with it and I have the over-whelming desire to chuck it out with window and live without!
Maybe the only time this phone would be useful is if you bought it for your kids to teach them patience...

Well, its a simple phone, with all the gadgets of a top class phone for a fraction of the cost. The batery life lasts between full and high due to my setting changes, and plays the music i want fine. Id recomend this phone for many people who are wanting a new phone on a budget. I paid £20 and for my £20 i got 36 to 40 MB internal memory, the new Bluetooth, and a 2.0mp camara. My old phone which had a 1.3mp camara and 16MB of internal memory cost me £45. Just look at the value difference, but it does have its faults. The phone does load slowely when wanting to access files, but i believe that is due to my 2GB memory card in it. and texting was tricky to get used to. But come on for £20 pounds, you cant complain. Genrally you get what you paid for. But i got a fantastic little phone at a fantastic price. Deffo 5/5.

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!! IT IS A COMPLETE DISASTER!! AM ON MY 4TH ONE ALL HAVE HAD THE SAME FAULT, IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL!!! THE SCREEN KEEPS CHANGING BY ITSELF, WON'T PLAY MP3, WON'T RECORD SENT MESSAGES, WILL NOT BE RESET.
ORANGE CUSTOMER SERVICES DIABOLICAL, COULD NOT/ WOULD NOT HELP!
I'M MOVING OVER TO A DIFFERENT NETWORK, ALTHOUGH I'VE BEEN WITH ORANGE SINCE WE FIRST BOUGHT OUR FIRST PHONE!!
THIS REVIEW WOULDN'T LET ME GIVE THE RATING 0!!

camera very good for the price.
memory car slot

poor menu setup and crappy theme lets the phone down.

Simply rubbish - unable to send text messages (we have 3 other Oranange phones in house and all picking up clear signal)- Orange shop staff clueless - now attempting to restore factory settings - impossible as no one at Oranage seems to know codes and going round in circles with USB. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE.

Bought this phone for my daughter for Christmas. Had to get a replacement by the end of December, as it had stopped working. Always struggled to charge it up. Last month the charger connector broke. Orange shop unable to help us, Orange customer support ptomised a replacement next day. Failed to arrive. Just called again and now told that we are not entitled to a free replacement.
I will not buy an Orange phone again. Although this phone appeared good value at the time of purchase, it has been nothing but trouble.
I will be buying a new, non-Orange phone today.

Bought this phone for my daughters christmas and it stopped working after 3 months. Orange sent me a replacement handset and that one didn't work either. Will be steering clear of orange from now on as i've lost faith in the brand.

Practically useless as a phone as the screen is so dim on max brightness that it cannot be read on a fine day, even if held in your shadow. My wife has an identical phone with the same problem
Also, my phone (but not my wife's) repeatedly stops receiving calls and has to be returned to the factory settings before it will work again.

Although a nice neat looking little phone, I find it pretty frustrating! Lots of annoying things like the defaulting to capitals in texting, and all the menu that you have to go through just to send a text. I keep losing a whole long text when clearing, because it decides to wipe the lot if I decide to try and delete a few words by holding clear button down. Most of all, I go outside into day light and the screen turns into a mirror, and I cannot see anything on it!! Impossible to use in daylight!! An okay phone, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!

Brilliant little handy phone, excellent as it is very simple, cheap but very very effective!!
I would recommend this product for children as it is a very solid phone and has a very exciting camera. i would say it is a good phone all round and it was worth the 14 quid i paid for it.
i also loved the way it reacts so quickly and how the menu was laid out.

I bought the Orange Rome as a cheap phone to use when my contract one broke. Have since got another phone again but still using Rome for the while...
Because:
The battery life is superb....4-6 days with very heavy use!
Music and Radio are good enough for anyone...good speaker!
Ridiculously cheap phone!
However:
The predicted text has lots of annoying things wrong with it
and the screen quality is not great at all
and the camera is simply pants
Definitely a cheap phone worth getting...just don't expect the best phone ever!

The menus are terribly laid out and not at all intuitive. Why do i have to confirm the sending of text message twice? The predictive text is the worst I have ever used, and cannot even do Abc mode (forces you to pick either ABC or abc). Cannot add new words and the phone will force you to type a new word in 2 parts; if it doesn't know the word it stops you after a few letters, you have to accept that and then finish the word.
This is the worst phone I have owned, including those dating back to 1999. Do not buy it. If Orange didn't have a no-return policy I would have exchanged it long ago.
