“explore, discover, enjoy! ”

The Quest is a treasure hunt/ scavenger hunt through the Isle of Mull that gets you exploring from the time you land. You pick it up from Craignure Tourist Info but can also download all of the bits and pieces from the Internet before hand if you're pressed for time. You will still need to go to some of the places and talk to people or pick up challenge sheets. :) Our wee one is only three, but loves scavenger hunts, and looking for things.

We thoroughly enjoyed doing the Quest, and discovered a few gems through it. As a previous reviewer said, we probably would have done the same things without it, but it certainly got us exploring Tobermory more thoroughly than we would have otherwise. The fact that there's a mix of things to look for and discover is ideal - you can choose your part of the island or your interest to suit. At several of the places we were given wee bits and pieces for taking part, which for our wee man is like winning the lottery - even a pencil is a great excitement to him. It warmed us to Mull a great deal and helped us to feel like our exploring had a common theme and aim.

We really enjoyed it, and all of our names went on the certificate - this is a great one for all the family to join in on. I'd recommend this idea to all places who want to encourage families in, it's such a great idea, and kept us well occupied. Thank you Mull!

It could be argued that if you are an outstandingly beautiful Scottish Island with scenery, wildlife, tranquility and history there is little incentive to do anything else. Thankfully a number of those in the tourist industry on the island disagreed and they have got together to organise the Quest for the Magical Stone of Mull. On arriving on the island for a five day break we collected our quest sheet with 18 challenges (you only have to complete 8) from the tourist office. Locations are spread throughout the island and themes range from wildlife, to history to environmental. We were staying in Tobermory so covered most of the clues/tasks in the North of the island. Triumphantly we returned to the tourist office on day 4, handed in our quest sheets and my daughters got their magical stones and signed the Big Book. Did we do/see anything we would not have done/seen anyway without the quest? Probably not. Did we have a far more memorable and hugely enjoyable time because of the quest? Definitely yes. If you have kids (especially those into Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings), are planning a holiday on the Scottish Isles and can stay for 4 or so days in Mull then try the quest.
