TV Wont stay on. Keeps switching off after 5 seconds. Out of warranty and LG won't help. They suggested Domestic n General for repair service but they quoted £370 PLUS parts or A 12 month warranty at £49 per month = £588!!! Was working fine for 18 months and then fault occurred. I have several LG products but would NEVER buy any in future.

“LG PS3000. Never again LG”

written by bozmoz on 27/01/2012

Same as many many others. Not long post 1yr warranty (2 years in rest of Europe) red mist on TV secondary to Z-Sus card blowing. Never had a TV that has lasted such a short time. My advice is never buy LG. Reliability seems very poor.

Had this tv from new about 20 months now been AWESOME today it went all red fuzzy and I am told it will cost a FORTUNE to fix as its out of warranty LG deny there is a fault with this model and they CANNOT FIX IT I have noticed on many many forums the same ahs happened and everyone is up in arms about it WHAT CAN BE DONE its a disgrace they can get away with it DOMESTIC n GENERAL can fix it ONLY if I take out a contract for it at £30 a month and if its over £250 to repair they will refund the contact money and cancel the agreement!!!!! I was also told that the PLASMA screen to replace could cost over 4 to even 5 figure price mark !!!1 LG are a DECEITFULL company and I will NEVER buy anything of thiers again !!! Dont even say I should have had extended warranty as that to would NOT have HELPED !! (according to Currys LG and Domestic & General)

“Rubbish, a tv that wont last more then 2 years!!”

written by nvickers on 21/06/2011

purchased sept 09,no problems to begin with but started to turn itself off! june 2011 went to switch tv on but once the blue light came on nothing else happend, the screen completely blank. Got in touch with the store i purchased it from, they gave me a number to ring to get it repaired but after 7 days was told parts are not available any longer, and because it's now out of it's 1 year warranty by 9mths they cant help me. I then contacted LG support, a young man called Aaron Hayes advised me that yes they were aware of power problems with this model but my tv is out of the warranty so he cannot help any further then to give me an independent repair companys number who may still have parts!! i surely wouldnt have paid £819 for a tv that i knew would only work for 21months!

I bought my TV 1 month before and is now suffering the same. Just hoping my 5 year warranty with Richer sounds stands good and that they write it off. A new telly would be perfect.

hi my LG 50PS3000 has done exactly the same as yours, and guess wot, its out of the warranty and they do not want to help, purchased in sept 09 for £819 so i dont think this is of satisfactory quality, they should recall this tv like they do cars when there is such a comman fault with them, LG stated "there is a known power fault on this tv but your out of your warranty"

these tv's last untill they go out of there one year warranty then brake. personally i will never buy anything LG again.
i found LG service centre very un-helpful saying if i could get a qoute for the work off thier repair company over the phone they would cover some of the cost, not saying a percentage, but when i phone them they didnt do over the phone quotes. so this turned out to be a wild goose chase all because its a few months out of warranty.
LG = boycotted

Bought this tv at beginning of August 2009 and was happy with price and quality. Seemed ok until last week when my wife phoned me at work to say the "power light was blinking" and not powering up. I have since found a lot of other people have experienced this problem. We contacted Currys and were promptly told it is not their problem but LGs and when told it seemed unreasonable that it lasted just past the standard warranty, they replied "How long is a piece of string". We have since contacted Citizens Advice, sent letters to Currys and LG and are aware that it is Currys duty to deal with the problem and await their reply. !!!!!BEWARE LG 50PS3000 DODGY POWER UNIT!!!!

written by davywscott on 11/02/2011

In Jan 11 my LG 50PS3000 50" Plasma TV packed in after 15 months. I took it too a local repair company who told me that the screen had gone and would cost a minimun of £540.00 to repair. I only paid £700 so was less that happy. I contacted Currys who sold it to me expecting a fight. There was no quibble or argument. They contacted the repair shop to confirm what I had said and within a week I had a voucher for £510.00. No a good a I would have liked but I seem to have faired far better that a couple of reviewers i just read. Maybe by now thet have had so much problems with this TV they are now just taking it on the chin.

Bought LG50PS3000 from CURRYS AUGUST 31st 2009 for £700 great tv, until DECEMBER 27th 2010 when it just switched its self off, and wont switch back on, out of warranty now, tried getting CURRYS to fix it, but was told by them that they dont fix TVs over 1 year old.Quoted the SALE OF GOODS ACT to the manager, he told me to get an independent engineers report done and currys would fix it, CURRYS are looking in to it.ENGINEERS REPORT STATED MAIN PCB BOARD HAD GONE should have lasted longer than 14 months

written by on 04/12/2010

I purchased the LG 50PS3000 Plasma on 30 august 2009. The TV has been fine for the first 12 months but its now gone wrong. As from 26 November the picture has gone fuzzy - its not clear and its as though there are tiny red dots all over the screen. Its obviously now outside of the guarantee. I'm not happy with this and I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy this TV. I paid £700 for this TV and I expected it to last longer than 15 months!!

“I purchased the 50" LG plasma from Currys on the 27th...”

written by on 16/11/2010

I purchased the 50" LG plasma from Currys on the 27th of August 2009, its now the 16th of November 2010 and its packed up. Sat down to watch a dvd and heard a light "shorting" out sound after 10 minutes of viewing and the screen when blank with the blue light on the front of the tv blinking, now the tv won't show a picture... only the blue light flashing and nothing more. After several searches online I discover this seems to be a common fault with LG's and they continue to sell tv's without addressing the issue. I have called there service centre only to be told that there busy (probably with the same issues) and I'll have to call back tomorrow. I doubt very much that I'll be able to have them repair / replace my tv as its a massive 2 and a bit months out of warranty!! Angry and very disappointed, you buy a tv you expect it to last longer than 14 months.

It's been a great telly. Had already bought and returned two of Asda's " Brand X " 42 inch screen. This time I went to John Lewis and got this 50 inch LG for a measely £650 and that included a John Lewis FREE 5 year gaurantee.

written by Arcald on 07/11/2009

At first the picture was good, the sound was good, but after 1 year the screen failed and because it was outside the warranty period LG would do nothing to help. I would advise anyone considering buying an LG TV to do a little searching on the internet and they may be surprised at the amount of people that this has happened to. I wish I had done this before buying my one, as it is not economical to repair it. They may be a little cheaper than others on the market but this may be because they are not built to last

written by benji1983 on 08/09/2009

the only reason i didnt give the picture quality 5 out of 5 is because of the horrible ghost image thats sometimes left behind if something is on the screen in one spot too long! other than that this tv gets a gig thumbs up from me! a 10 out of 10! 100%! this tv is well worth the £670 i payed. with a dynamic black ratio of 2 million to 1, the coulours are very rich with an amazing image from my ps3. blu-rays are a real treat. with surround sound hooked up, this is just like being at the cinema! easy to set up, easy to use. you have to get one of these LG 50PS3000!! :)
