“I'm not sure why others have written reviews after...”

★★★★☆

written by atarshis on 21/01/2011

I'm not sure why others have written reviews after only a few days use, a fitness program needs weeks to acheive anything.

I've had Wii Fit for over a year, and bought EA Sports Active a couple of months ago.

What I like:
Much more strength building, more fat busting excersises than Wii fit. You really work up a sweat, your muscules ache after some of the 30 minute workout sessions. A good variety of different activities, some use the resistence band, others the Wii ballance board and some the leg strap. Two player excercises.

What I don't like:
Switching between users takes a lot more clicks than the Wii Fit. Few abdominal excercises (I used to do 30 to 40 sit-ups each day on the Wii Fit). Swapping between resistence band excercises and leg strap excercises is annoying. No Yoga positions. It doesn't weigh you to track your progress. The resistence band doesn't last long, I've had to buy a new one in less than 2 months.

I've bought the extra excercises, so obviously I liked it! As soon as I've finished the current 30 day workout, I'll be moving on the the new disk.

“I was deciding whether to buy wii fit, or EA Sports...”

★★★★★

written by Taylott on 09/07/2009

I was deciding whether to buy wii fit, or EA Sports Active, and after several recommendations from friends, i decided to get the EA Sports Active. I'm certainly very impressed with it so far. I'm one week into the "30 day challenge" and i'm already starting to feel and see results. The game (or should i say fitness programme) starts you off by creating your body profile and then choosing a fitness instructor to take you through the course.

The 30 day challenge involves a range of exercises to be carried out on a daily schedule (you have days off as well), and your results are tracked and saved so you can see your progress later. It includes cardio training and body sculpting, and a range of exercises using a resistance band (supplied).

I'm reasonably fit to start off with, but found it hard to find the time to get to an actual gym, so this is ideal. I started the 30 day challenge on the "moderate" setting, and after 30 minutes i felt like i had done a REAL workout!

There are lots of variations in the exercises to keep you interested, and the fitness instructor really keeps you motivated. Looking forward to seeing the results after the 30 days!

“I purchased EA Sports Active on May 20th. I have used...”

I purchased EA Sports Active on May 20th. I have used it now for 2 days. I am not in the best shape as I hit and miss on excercising. Mostly just started walking before I bought the game. However, I was exercising regularly last year. I thought this game is very well put together. The trainer actually waits for you to get the move right. Just like the WII sports package that comes with the WII you are having so much fun you don't realize it's helping. The WII Fit which I also have is balance, posture and yoga oriented. The Active is into muscle/body shaping and cardio. I am currently doing the 30 day challenge and in just two days I feel every bit of it. I like how you pick out your person and make them the same body shape as yourself. It comes with a resistance band and that really works the arm muscles. I will be interested to see how the game adapts to your daily progress which it is supposed to do.
