John Brannigan, "Translations" by Brian Friel maybe lacks a little historical context/in depth analysis or help with points of further reading if you are really aiming for that top A2 mark.

I Was Unsatisfied With The Ending Of The Play, As
i was unsatisfied with the ending of the play, as it does not answer any of the questions that it raises and leaves you in the middle of the mess. for example, we are left not knowing what has really happened to Yolland, to Manus and the real significance of the Donnelly Twins to the play. i do acknowledge, however, that this may have been the way Brian Friel had wanted us to feel, as it may have been his perception of what had taken place in Ireland, but overall i do not prefer those types of endings and felt the play was too short and had no proper ending. :(

John Brannigan "Translations" by Brian Friel (York Notes Advanced S.):
I found this book extremely helpful, It analyses each of the three Acts and provides criticism on themes, language and characterisation and offers information on historical and literary background. Worth buying if you are studying the play.
