Don't Stay At This Hotel
This hotel is almost uninhabitable. The exterior of the building has been taken over by seagulls who are nesting on almost all of the window ledges. Their droppings are never cleaned up or hosed down and are all over the pavement and windows. The smell at the entrance is horrendous and the noise is dreadful. We paid extra for a Premium Room but I would say it wasn't fit for human habitation. There was mould everywhere, chunks of plaster missing from the walls etc. The windows to the shared balcony were streaked with bird droppings and the lock was extremely inefficient. When we opened the full length windows, we found empty beer cans and a glass full of tab ends on the balcony floor. The Reception staff were friendly and welcoming but failed to take our booking for dinner correctly and when we turned up at the Restaurant, we weren't booked in, so had to go out for food. We had been asked to book a time for breakfast but we decided to check our booking and found that hadn't been passed on to the restaurant either. Luckily we were given another time and we were very pleased with the standard of food and service. We were booked in for 3 nights but after the first one we decided we weren't prepared to stay any longer and booked into a nearby hotel which was cleaner and cheaper. The Grand refunded us for the two nights we didn't stay and were terribly apologetic but I got the impression that it wasn't all that unusual for guests to leave ahead of time. On our way out, we passed a guest on the front steps - she was in her dressing gown, smoking a cigarette and coughing loudly. We decided we'd made the right decision. It can't be too long before this hotel is closed down. The building is uncared for and in desperate need of renovation and refurbishment. The Health and Safety of guests is being undermined by the worrying seagull problem and something should be done about it without delay.

Terrible Hotel,go There At Your Peril
we stayed here sunday 16th june via a lateroom.com booking and although it seemed a good deal £44 evening meal bed and breakfast it was truley aweful. the hotel is shabby everywhere, the room we had was dirty, scruffy and the bathroom moldy well beyond faded elegance!!!! there were a number of different coach trips and the queue for reception was long no matter what time of day you required assistance. the majority of staff appeared to be foreign workers who struggled to understand the various elderly visitors accents which lead to many frayed tempers.some of the people we spoke to were shocked to be staying here for a week and we were just pleased that we had only booked for one night.the food was buffet style but after the first sitting there was a long wait for fresh supplies so this upset a lot of people as well, it was not worth waiting for as it was not of good quality. The proof is in the saying you get what you pay for and in this case it was not worth the £44 we had paid! we last visited the Scarborough Grand hotel many years ago when it stood out as a Grand hotel the grandness has faded beyond all recognition under the Brittania group and i cannot see this improving as it would take millions of pounds to refurbish this hotel to a reasonable standard. We wil not be visiting again especially as there were notices everywhere warning visitors of the the optional extra of contacting the nova virus, i would be surprised if you did not carch some weired strain of bug staying at this hotel for any lenghth of time. Therefore we will not recommend it to our friends.
I have to agree with everything that has been said
We went on a groupon deal but the hotel was awful rooms were really shabby and had been cut in half to Make more rooms. The terrace was depressing and dirty
The queue was terrible on second day we queued 35 minutes just to get a car parking ticket
The whole hotel needs a lot of money spending on it. Never again.
