Normandy, La Vallee - Houlgate

to be honest this was my first and last eurocamp holiday.

cons first-

1. The girls from eurocamp hadnt cleaned the static van properly and we had no bedding upon arrival although it had been paid for. i had to ask them three times for bedding and they didnt seem particularly bothered. ordered beach towels as well but they didnt have any left so gave extra hand towels.

2. the vans are tiny. we couldnt get dressed in the bedroom as it was so small.also the grass was six inches high around the van= lots of insect bites when sitting out

3. the swimming pool shuts every lunchtime for an hour ?why. also closed from 6 pm until 10 am

4. had to buy speedos on arrival, apparantly due to hygeine although french lads were swimming in their boxer shorts (not very hygienic).

5. rubber wrists bands issued to the kids and inevitably one got lost= 10 euros charge. why couldnt the kids have non removable wrist bands.

pros-

1. located in a beautiful town with lovely restuarants

2 . great swimming pool (when open)

3 . reasonable activities on site= kids were never bored

dont normally whinge about holidays on review sites but this one was lousy.

We were really impressed with our mobile home (pitch 220) which had fantastic views over the vallee to the sea, a private garden area and a very roomy shower room. The pool wasn't the best ever but with so much to see locally, we only used it once. The staff were, without exception, cheerful and very helpful. The location of the site was brilliant - walking distance to lovely Houlgate and loads of places to visit just a short drive away (and plenty more if you went a bit further).
