Wales, The Vale Hotel Golf & Spa Resort Hensol

Being a member of the gym at the hotel for several years it was the obvious choice for our Wedding party. What a disaster. We were warned that food doesn't come in generous quantities so during meetings with the events organiser we stipulated under no uncertain terms that we wanted a sumptuous buffet. Our party followed our wedding abroad. Thank goodness we never had the whole thing at the Vale. We ordered food for 185 guests, around 90 were catered for. Guests were told that more food would be arriving only to be stood in a queue for ages expectantly waiting and nothing arrived. How embarrassing.

Our party took place over the bank holiday consequently staff were unexperienced and few and far between. We struggled with the porters trolleys upstairs taking decorations to the venue without an offer of help.

The bar was severly undercatered and glasses remained on tables uncleared all evening.

The lift was broken in the one enterance, elderly and infirm people were directed towards the stairs and not to another lift they could have used if anyone there had any initiative.

I could go on and on, the long and short of it is that we would never recommend the hotel for any function in a million years. Find somewhere else.

Needless to say we have both cancelled our gym memberships. We are so disappointed at the service, our party was almost ruined by the hotel, just a good job we have such great friends and family that made the evening memorable for the right reasons.

The hotel have given us a refund for what we didnt recieve but the damage is done, we cant turn the clock back.
